My husband and I booked a couple days out in west Texas. On the way up, we made a stop at Cave Without A Name. I wasn't aware of the 126 steps (the way down was easy, but coming up was another story). But the view once inside the cave was something I can't put into words. Our guide, Julia, was full of information and friendly. It's definitely a sight to see!

I highly recommend this tour. Alex was very friendly, knowledgeable and answered every question. We enjoyed learning interesting history of this cave. 1 hour is perfect and the fee is also reasonable. The kids in our group were mesmerized by the surroundings and the stories. I was impressed how much they were interested and how well they all behaved. Do not miss this Texas gem!

This was a beautiful cave. It was about a 45 minute tour, not too strenuous. Our guide Steve was funny and very informative. It’s nice to have a guide who you can tell loves the history and science behind their tour!

Our tour guide Alex did a fantastic job guiding us through the cavern while pointing out some very interesting features. He used humor and answered all our questions. The cave was bigger than I thought and had beautiful formations. Be sure you are in good physical condition as the climb down and back up - about 80 feet - is strenuous. Well worth the trip! Thanks Alex!

Interesting experience to say the least, it was obvious that the tour guide didn't know a whole lot about the history of the cave or the geological formations but was a very polite guy nonetheless. The cave itself was gorgeous and overall, we did enjoy our time. Definitely a one and done thing though.

Guide was informative and friendly, cave was a lot larger than I thought and the drive though hill country to get there was really nice as well as the gift shop there was reasonably priced and all in all nice trip

The cave is amaing and well worth your time. Do NOT go unless you are reasonably fit. There are a lot of steps and the climb out is more strenuous than going down. The formations are beautiful and well worth the effort. Our guide was Mike and he seemed disorganized and we wasted a lot of time doing nothing. At times he was quite snarky and when asked about caving more than once he repeated a canned response. He was ok but I believe the other guide is the one you want if you have a choice.

The most beautiful cave we’ve visited in Texas!! Have been here twice, and although it’s smaller than other surrounding caves in the area it’s by far the most interesting and alive! Concerts are held there periodically because of the awesome acoustics. It’s a must see!

We decided to stop here in the morning on our way to a Bandera ranch. Cave Without a Name is a hidden gem for sure and exceeded our expectations. Our guide was informative and interesting. We enjoyed learning all about the caverns and seeing all the cool formations. Would recommend!

Hi I’m
Planning to visit this along with my family tomtorow and I have a 7 month old baby.. is it advisable to take him into this cave ? Or is it best for all of us to skip it ?
Rédigé le 30 octobre 2020
If you can wear the baby in a harness or sling, it would be just fine. :) Definitely no stroller access though!

Are dogs allowed on the tour? I am unable to leave them where we are staying unattended but am really hoping to fit this in on our trip.
Rédigé le 19 juillet 2020
Due to the cave's sensitive ecosystem, the only animals allowed in the cave are service dogs. If you have a kennel, you could leave your furry friends in our office while you are on your tour.

Not really, I wore shoes, that were ok with wet and slippery stairs. I wear flip flops all the time but not there. You have about 124 stairs to climb down and back up so you need good shoes. It isn't a bad climb and well worth the effort to see it.

Is there a place to picnic in this area after touring the cave?

Yes, we have picnic tables and lots of green space to enjoy a picnic after your tour.

Are the Tours and Scheduled performances 2 separate charges, are there packages for both in 1 day, and where can I find this info?
Rédigé le 21 avril 2017
Thanks for the great question and the suggestion we add a note to maybe the bottom of each concert event.
Tours are separate from the shows. Between Labor Day and Memorial Day, the last tour of the day is usually at 4 PM with most concerts starting at 7 PM; between Memorial Day and Labor Day, the last tour of the day departs at 5 PM with most concerts starting at 7:30 PM. The tour cost is $20 for 13 and over; $10 for Youth 6-12; Children five and under are no charge when accompanied by an adult. (more information on our web page under the "Tours and Prices" tab. (Sorry, but Trip Advisor does not allow links in our answers.) Purchase your tour tickets at the visitor's center. The tour takes about an hour. If you want to take the last tour of the day, you may want to bring a picnic to enjoy after the tour and before the concert. Picnic tables are on the grounds.
A "Buy Now" button is on the concert page - again you need to access the web page and go to the concert of interest for details. It is less expensive to buy Advance tickets. If you prefer, you may call the cave at 830.537.4212 to purchase your concert tickets.

Thank you for your answer. What time is the best time to arrive to avoid line ups? How long will the wait be for the tour? If we have 11 people do we need to book ahead?
Rédigé le 18 mars 2017
The first tour of the day departs at 9:15 AM; the next at 10:00 AM and then every 20 minutes until 5 PM. The longest wait is 20 minutes. We look forward to your visit.

It is the last weekend of Spring Break for many schools. It has been a busy week. However, additional staff and frequent tours allow guests to see the cave without long waits. Other activities - hiking trails, gift shop, mining sluice, hopping rocks, geode cutting - round out the country visit.
There are still a few tickets remaining for the Spring Solstice, Saturday night, March 18th.

How elderly friendly its the tour?
Rédigé le 25 juillet 2016
The only entrance/exit to the cave is 126 steps. There is no rush in or out on the steps. Handrails are available. Many seniors - even 90 plus - do the cave; many cannot due to health issues. The duck under mentioned above is no longer an issue. Courtesy of recent construction in the cave, only those over 6' 3" need to duck to enter the cave. A visit to the cave is a truly memorable experience.

Based on the definition of a theater, "a building or outdoor area in which plays and other dramatic performances are given . . . ", the straight answer is no.
However, there is a large room accommodating 200 people with about a forty foot dome ceiling, a stage, and seating area. The dome creates amazing acoustics. Nature yields amazing surroundings.
Performances range from folk music to Opera, from Broadway songs performed by amazing actors to classical renditions performed by amazing talents.
Attending an event in the Throne Room of Cave Without A Name is a most memorable experience!

I heard you have theater in this cave? Schedule of coming theater there?
Rédigé le 21 mai 2015
Musicals, weddings, corporate events, etc. in the Throne Room are truly memorable experiences. Nature's views are beautiful; the acoustics are dynamic. Performers and attendees are amazed. During the spring of 2016, a raised performance stage became a great addition. In the process of building the stage, the "duck under" was removed as well.
