After 16 boat tours, this one was downright awful. Captain Henry’s attitude is poor, he is rude, condescending and insulting. While trying to explain the swim, he said the money from the auction goes to the fire department and they do whatever the hell they want with it. He also said the buyback program was designed as another way to make money off the ponies. ALL DISTORTED INFORMATION. He also explained that there are groups of what he calls crazy ole pony ladies that raise money to purchase a buyback pony at ridiculous prices. Sorry Henry, I am one of those ladies. Also, when I told him that, he said, “I figured you were one of them.” He also let us know his disgust with the Bateman center bus tours after we told him we had a tour planned. He does not like seeing a bus on the service road when he brings a tour through. He asked what tours we have used and then went on to bad mouth each of them along with one of the captains personally. This man has an ego bigger than his boat and he is obviously not proud of the island in which he operates. My husband and I know better, however the four first time visitors on the boat left with this type of ignorant information. Next time let your guests know all that the fire department does for the town and the ponies. If I lived there, I would be comforted in knowing that the auction helps the department purchase and maintain state-of-the-art fire and rescue equipment while also providing the island’s ponies with top notch care. Save your money and book a different tour, the rest love the island! Remember, people do not book a tour just to see the ponies, they want to learn about the island that they chose to visit and spend their hard-earned money. What we gave you was our hard-earned money and what you gave us was an ego-driven tour full of grievances.
