Before going to the Great Sta Cruz Island. first, you have to booked at the tourism office in Paseo Del Mar Park center or at DOT accredited tour agency. second, you have to attend a short pre-trip briefing by the tourism staff at paseo del mar. it's about the rules in the island, prohibition in taking corals, sand and bringing single use plastic items. this island is a protected area and managed by the local government unit. Sta Cruz Islands are composed of the great sta cruz island (activities like lagoon tour, yellow boat adventure, visit to stingless jellyfish sanctuary, vinta ride) and the little sta cruz island is a sand bar , visitor is allowed for only 10 minutes just to take pictures because it is a military zone area. What a lovely place! it is a paradise. Boat ride is 15-20 minutes from paseo del mar jetty to the great sta cruz island, the pink sand. ;)

There are 28 Islands off the mainland coast near Zamboanga City. The two most famous are Great and Little Santa Cruz Islands which are just off the coast of Zamboanga in the Southern Philippines.
Little Santa Cruz Island is only 3.5 kilometers (2.2 miles) south of downtown Zamboanga City in the Basilan Strait.
Little Santa Cruz Island is famous for its’ Pink Sandy Beaches. The only Pink Sandy Beach in Asia! It is inhabited but by less than 200 inhabitants.
In 2017 it was recognized by National Geographic as one of the 21 Best Beaches in the World.
We booked our small boat the day before and the boat trip was fun for all of us. They provide life vests for each passenger. We landed on the beach shoreline and disembarked.
During our stay we all swam, our grandsons were snorkeling and discovered a few very unusual Star Fish, which we all studied. We then walked along the beach to the limit marker.
We all had a very, enjoyable three hour stay on this fantastic island...
You are not allowed to walk around the Island due to the possibility of being kidnapped on the other side or in the center of this small island. The island has several security police situated on the island to protect the guests and to keep people from trying to circumnavigate or to go inland on this tiny island.
The have erected many small huts with a table a two bench seats for people to use during their stay.
There are many small stalls with the local women selling gift items, but especially cosmetic jewelry. We found their prices to be very, very reasonable. My two grandsons purchased a pair of “pearl” ear rings and a “pearl” necklace for only 200 PHP or $3.30 USD. Of course they were not real pearls, but they will make a nice birthday present for their mother. She will fully understand, I know.
When you wish to return to the mainland all you do is to instruct our guide and he summons one of the waiting boats to collect you and to make the return trip. Each trip took about 12 to 15 minutes and all of us felt very safe during our two boat rides.
Take the time and effort to visit Little Santa Cruz Island, you will really enjoy yourself, trust me on this point.

The beach and sand is nice, it's a good and relaxing beach because it's isolated and not too many tourists. But you can't stay long because there is limited access to fresh and clean drinking water and food.

Sta. Cruz Island is composed of 2 Islands (Great and Small). The smaller or Little Sta. Cruz is restricted to public because it is being used as a military camp while the bigger island is the famous pink sand beach of Zamboanga. It is inhabited by small community of Badjaos, open to general public but only on arrangement with the City Tourism Office of Zamboanga. Bancas are the mode of trasportation in and out of the island. Visitors are only allowed to visit the island between 7AM to 2PM only. Pink color of the sand actually due to the broken pink corals that are mixed (by the wave) with the whitish sand. The water is really crystal clean and you can also join the group to see and hold the sting-less jellyfish and enjoy the sandbar. If you are lucky, you can see some small fisherman with newly catch fish which you can buy and you can ask them to cook it for you ...

It was a great time and full of fun for bonding with high school We finally had the chance to actually see and hold the inverted sting-less stingray at the lagoon area. It was well preserved lagoon with great mangrove trees. We also saw the roosting fruit bats in the nearby trees. Unfortunately, we were not able to go deeper inside the lagoon due to low tide.

This was my 3rd time to visit Santa Cruz Island. My officemate/friend treated us for a half-a-day swimming.
Before reaching the island, you need to pay a registration fee and a fee for the boat ride. A safe 15 minutes boat ride from the city to the island is all it takes.
I took some pictures because I cannot control myself from capturing the beautiful nature in front of me.
In between photo takings was an exciting experience of dipping down my body to this crystal clear water and pink sand beach. This place is famous of its pink sand beach. This is because of the mixture of crashed red corals and the white sand that makes the beach sand looks pink from afar.
Just be careful in enjoying the beach water because the current is quite strong.
A half day trip to Santa Cruz Island is a must and worthwhile experience that every local and visitors should make while in Zamboanga City.

Our class reunion brought me to t Sta Cruz Island . was a perfect place to bond with friends. The Island is 15 mins boat ride from the urban Zamboanga City. It is a is a protected area hence, it has no nonsense environmental rules and regulations, But, definitely those environmental policy will not in anyway stop you from having an amazing beach experience,
TIPS
1- Earlier reservation with the local Tourism Office is required prior to the visiit,
2- Beach time is only upto 2 pm
3. I have not notice PWD facilty

Hi, this is accessible thru motor boat or banca. The nearest hotel in this island is Lantaka Hotel, but still approximately 30 minutes to the island.

Flippers and snorkeling: you may bring your own stuff, there were locals can guide you but I won't recommend due to the strong current coming from the south. Dolphins?no...I haven't see. This is too far to compare from Maldives.

When you’re going to Island you’ll only pay 1000 for the banca rental... but you can share it with other passengers. Environmental fee is i think 20php only.
