Easy walk throughout the park and the navigation was marked well. There are cool things to see like cliff diving spots and waterfalls. You can quickly get immersed in nature!

Really lovely park near Bellingham with easy hiking trails, numerous waterfalls, playgrounds, picnic areas, and even a trout hatchery to explore! It was a great place to stop and stretch our legs on our spring break road trip from Seattle up to Vancouver.
The largest waterfall - Whatcom Falls (aka Whirlpool Falls according to Wiki) - is easily accessible via a well maintained, paved, and quite picturesque bridge that puts you right in front of it. An unpaved hiking trail continues on for a few miles past the bridge and was a tad muddy but well maintained.
The falls are only about 10 feet tall but beautiful and quite powerful on our visit from all the snowmelt. Apparently it’s a very popular swimming hole in the warmer months. We visited in early March and there was still snow on the ground and pretty cold.
There’s also a large trout hatchery in the park run by Bellingham Technical College. There are info signs and numerous pools fed by the river - very interesting to explore. I’d love to see it during hatching season!
It’s free to enter. There’s lot of paved parking, clean bathrooms, picnic tables, and it’s very easy to find from the highway. Definitely worth a stop!

Enjoyed the spring runoff in the river while taking in the view of the falls. Parked at the Woburn Street entrance to the park and walked east to the falls. The trail is well groomed and very firm footing. Well marked and many folks had their dogs out for the day. Elevation change isn’t significant so it’s fairly easy to walk in most areas.

Amazing place to hike and see the waterfalls. Lot of old growth trees. So beautiful to walk and hear the birds and the water flowing. There are benches around to sit down and take in the sights and sounds. Total loop of park is about 4 miles. Great for families and couples. Runners as well.

While on a little trip up near the border to visit some friends, we all met up here. It was a great decision! Beautiful trails, beautiful waterfalls, and a beautiful day meant it was a lovely afternoon walk. For a trail, it can be a little crowded, though.

Gorgeous park, can see all of it in just a couple of hours. Also great stop is limited on time in area which I had and am glad I picked this as my one place to stop. Nice kept trails, beautiful large trees and of course the falls along with stone bridge.

Beautiful park with extensive well groomed walking/running paths. We even saw people fishing here.
A bit of information on Washington state fish hatcheries.

It’s a beautiful place to go for a walk, run walk the dog, bring kids, and even a great place to do family photos. It has a lot of great history and a lot of awesome waterfalls. A must see!

Whatcom Falls Park is a great park with several trails. The air was fresh and the surrounding was really nice. I love the different falls and bridges. Feel so refreshing and calm as you hike through it.

Hi. I'll be in Bellingham for part of a day & love the photos of Whatcom Falls, so I want to see it (them?) in person. When I look at pdf maps of the parks (is there more than one with falls?) and the trails from the Bellingham Trail Guide website, I can't tell where the falls are. Can you help? Where exactly should we park for the falls? Which trail should we take to reach the falls? Anything else I should know before going?
Rédigé le 23 juin 2018
The trail is in the middle of the parking lot to the left if you are driving in. I did not do the whole trail only to the bridge where the main falls are.

Is there a nice place in the park to sit and read a book?
Rédigé le 14 juillet 2017
Yes, there are many places in the park to read a book. If you want to be near the falls, I would of course bring a folding chair or spread a blanket.
Rédigé le 15 juillet 2017
About how long does it take to get around the park if we were to stick to the main trail area and view the falls?
Rédigé le 25 octobre 2016
you can do in as little as 10 minutes. the falls are right off the parking lot. if you follow the trails you can walk for as long as you'd like.
