Really nice hike on well maintained paths through the forest. We loved that we were able to get as close as we wanted to the waterfall. Definitely recommend this hike!

An easy hike up to see the beautiful falls! It wasn't crowed when I went and there were still patches of snow on the ground. I can see how these falls can get busy on the weekend, so I suggest going during the week if you can. If you venture to the lower pool area, be prepared to get wet and be careful on the slippery rocks.

This was a very nice, easy going trail with a beautiful waterfall at the end to cool off at and take some great photos! Trail was also very well kept.

Highly rated! As good as it gets for Northwest forest / waterfall hikes. Short hike, trail well maintained, a big creek flowing on the left, which you can easily access near the bottom of the trail and look down upon as you ascend.
We bought the $5 National Forest Pass online the day before. It is said that you can also buy it onsite.
We left West Seattle at 7:15 AM on Saturday and drove one hour east on I-90, then a little further on a paved forest road to the trailhead parking lot. It was full when we arrived about 8:20 AM. People park on the side of the nearby roads, and we were lucky to get a spot fairly close to the trailhead. Some folks were parking more than a mile away, later as we were leaving at about 10:30. The trail is very well maintained, as you can see in the pictures.
Sorry to say, even that early in the morning, the restrooms were so smelly and filthy that I couldn't use them. Upon advice, we took our own roll of toilet paper. But the smell drove me out immediately, feeling like I was starting to throw up.
Given that it was crowded with lots of families with toddlers and lots of dogs, 95% of the experience was good. We would step off the trail and let folks pass, as others did for us. Again 95% of the people were wearing masks against the Covid pandemic, but in the rather enclosed area at the foot of the falls, I got scared by too many people not wearing masks and not social distancing. So we left sooner than we might have. At one point we were sitting on the rocks and this large family descended upon us without masks, sitting too close. Not comfortable! But that is not about Franklin Falls.
The last 20 yards or so of the trail are only wide enough for one person at a time, cut out of the rock face at a rather steep slope. See the picture. This is challenging for some toddlers and older folks like me, but it's manageable. You also have to deal with parties coming down when your party wants to go up, and vice versa. In general, folks are considerate and accommodating and so were we.
The hike has its fair share of well built overlooks. It really is the perfect NW waterfall hike, similar to Twin Falls closer to Seattle off of I-90.
The bonus surprise at the end was that the forest road took us under the highway to a truck stop-type facility with a general store, a pancake house, an outdoor espresso bar, etc. We had just Googled "coffee near me," hoping to find a public restroom that we could use. All of this was less than a mile away at the Summit of Snoqualmie Pass.
The impression we took away was "Oh my gosh, so crowded so early in the morning!" Even so, Franklin Falls Trailhead led us to a pleasant and memorable experience.

This was a great hike. Easy enough and the waterfall at the end is beautiful. Perfect on a sunny day, hike was well shaded and then you can dip your feet in the water when you get there. Easy enough for all types of hikers. Can get very busy, hard to find parking if you go during 10am to 3pm. We went in the afternoon, most people were leaving so we found a parking spot at the parking lot. There is a $5 fee or you have to have a Forrest Pass.
We will go again.

Good for beginners where you can go with kids. One side of trail there is river where you can spend some time to relax. At end you will reach to waterfall which is true gem. Parking is bit challenging due to crowded.

If you are a hiking beginner, this is the best trail. 3 miles round trip from Exit 47 along I-90 on a flat to slightly uphill trail, it's just like strolling in the park. Very easy and convenient with the wide trails, creek with blue clear water on the side in addition to the big trees and lush vegetation along the way. The falls itself was refreshingly cool, you can go close to it and feel the spray of water in you face. Go early as it tends to be busy. We were there at 9AM and already lots of people going up and down. If you want a shorter walk, take Exit 52 at the Snoqualmie Summit.

My family visited the Falls early Sunday morning in July. We arrived around 8:30 am and the main parking lot was only half full. Two bathrooms are located on the trail just past the parking lot. Arriving so early, we noticed that very few people were walking on the trail. The main trail is very well maintained with a canopy of trees providing shade as you hike up to the falls along Denny Creek. When you get to the falls, you can walk down directly by the base of the falls and feel the water spraying in the air. The short rock path can be wet and slippery, so be careful if you have small kids. Since we arrive so early, there was only one family at the falls. In all, it was a very pleasant hike for my family and dog. Highly recommended for those who want a beautiful but mild hike.

Took a hike with family in July 2019. Weather was great (70F). Trails are well maintained and are somewhat spongy from layers of pine needles. The trail to the falls has more ups than downs, but it really isn’t that long (maybe 45min or so). There is a small falls about halfway in that is pretty nice, but you don’t get that close. The bigger falls at the end of trail is impressive, and you can get right up next to it. It was a great experience. Not too easy, and not too tough. Prefect for my wife and I since the Seattle hills had already worn us out a bit.

The falls are partially frozen, In winter, the forest service closes the access road to the trail. This means an easy to do hike in summer, two mile round trip, becomes a seven mile round trip, That is sort of the bad. Many, many, people do this anyways because franklin falls in winter is, well, pretty special.

Im wanting to hike Keekwulee and would like to know where we can park? I’m coming from eastern Washington. Help!
Rédigé le 6 septembre 2020
No more answers needed, thanks! We did the hike. You can read the review here. It's a good outing!

Are there any picnic tables nearby? We're hoping to set out early tomorrow morning, Saturday I think it's August 15th tomorrow
Rédigé le 14 août 2020
There are no picnic tables. Many people just find some flat rocks near the river and stop and have lunch. At the falls it's mostly rocky, but people do find spots to eat.

Is the road to Franklin falls open and is there still snow on the trail
Rédigé le 18 mai 2019
We want to take the baby to this place. Is it convenient to bring the stroller and walk aling the trial?
Rédigé le 13 août 2018
I would not recommend bringing a stroller. The trail itself is not flat & smooth. Plus you are constantly walking up large log cabin stairs (large strides). Also with a striker, it will be very difficult to get from the trail to the waterfall. That part is very narrow and only one person at a time.

Does anyone know if the road to Franklin that gets blocked off in winter (making the hike longer) is still blocked off?
Rédigé le 26 mai 2018
i saw on another website that the road was closed 19 days ago (from today, May 26) and another said it was open 10 days ago. But I haven't been so I cannot verify... i won't let me post the link but it alltrails website and search for franklin falls.

I have a Honda Civic FWD. Do you recommend tire chains to get to Franklin Falls in the winter?
Rédigé le 9 janvier 2018
Does anyone know if Franklin Falls is still frozen? My husband and I are attempting to go tomorrow 3/19, but we only want to do it if it is still frozen. any help would be appreciated!
Thank you!

They are most likely not frozen but it will still be a beautiful hike! We were by Snoqualmie last week and it was raining.
