Got here towards the end of the market time, about 20 mins left to go, so most were starting to pack it up. Also raining which wasn't ideal. However this market has some awesome shopping of all kinds and we will for sure make it a point to come back!! The kombucha was really good and worth the rainy walk!

Open until noon on Saturday morning it's definitely worth the 1 1/2 hour drive from Kona. Then all your senses are flooded with music, art, and lots of local produce, baked goods and food. Long lines at the bakery and wide range of food options to choose from. Getting in/out and parking a little challenging but soon forgotten as you ponder all the choices.

Saturday’s Waimea Town Market satisfied my appetite.
One vendor sold me a double Kona espresso to go with the Mexican tamales.
I watched people forming a long line to buy fresh baked goods, while I ate my tamales.
A cheese vendor sold me a variety of sample size pieces of goat cheese to eat later, while driving. I purchased pineapple, papayas, and lemons for dinner.

The market is smaller than in years past due to COVID. The vendors that are there have very good quality produce and products.

My wife love’s to go to Farmer’s Markets and I find a vast majority of them to be so-so. Primarily because I find them to be littered with vendors selling cheap souvenirs and very little in the way of locally grown produce and fruit. This farmer’s market was a pleasant surprise for several reasons. A good mixture of locally grown food and unique goods produced and made locally. The vendors aren’t packed in like sardines and there is a nice feel to the market with plenty of room to take in the surroundings and talk with others without feeling like you’re obstructing traffic. There was a real good vibe as vendors were friendly and welcoming. We didn’t feel pressed for time and yet easily wandered by all the vendors in an hour - maybe less, and that was taking time to make a few nice purchases. I really liked this place.

Excellent Saturday morning trip to Waimea. Start with a BIG breakfast down the street at Hawaiian Style Cafe for plate sized pancakes. There are several vegetable booths with excellent fresh food, but the real interest are coffee, tea, and honey/jam tastings. The honey was especially good. With all the different flowers and trees in Hawaii there were so many different wonderful flavors. Baked goods. I bought a macadamia nut tart that was very good and rich but 3-berry pie crust was terrible maybe because it was wrapped in plastic but the crust was tuff and not "crisp." There was a crepe booth that did breakfast, lunch and desert crepes that looked really good and large for a reasonable price but we were still full from breakfast. Well worth the trip. If you're looking for fruits, vegetables, coffee, and especially souvenirs the Kona Farmer's Market is a better place to go. It is open more days also - W thru S.

Thank you for your nice review. There’s quite a bit in your review, and I’d like to respond to all. I will certainly relay the crust issue to the pie vendor. Beyond that, the market has at least 10 booths where a variety of great breakfasts are available. Please consider checking them out on your next visit. Generally speaking, souvenir vendors are not admitted to this market, since there are other venues in town for them to set up at but we do have a number of fine artisanal wares available. We also have three coffee vendors, including one from Kona. Please note, however, that the Hamakua coffee sold by the other two is very highly rated, and comparable to Kona, although Kona has marketed itself well. Finally, with regard to fruits and vegetables, Waimea is much cooler than Kona, so very little fruit is grown here. Since the vendors are the farmers, they therefore won’t have much fruit. However, note that many of the vegetables you see beign sold at warmer locations come from the Waimea area, and sometimes from off island. Buyer beware! Again, thanks for the review. We hope to see again, and hope you will have a chance to check out all of our 50-plus vendors! Paul

We live in an area with a spectacular farmer's market and when we saw the Trip Advisor reviews for this one (80% of people giving 5 stars), we thought we couldn't miss. Alas. There were only 12-16 vendors, some of whom sold food (tea, tarts, honey, cookies). A small pottery mug cost $40 U.S. We didn't buy anything. We are apparently spoiled by our market near home.

I think you must be reviewing the wrong market. We have over 50 vendors and are located at Parker School. There is a smaller market at Waimea Elementary School.

This was the second farmers market we visited today and it was filled with a variety of booths. We had already eaten but there were multiple tempting food options including BLTs, Mexican food, Indian and Thai food and crepes. Lots of fresh produce stands and we bought apple bananas ( so much tastier than regular bananas). Multiple artisans with pottery, pressed glass (beautiful), and handmade purses (gorgeous so of course had to buy one). There was a bakery stand that was very popular ( likikoi bars-yum) and a dog treat booth ( the visiting pups who we saw sampling the merchandise seemed pleased).

Great convenient market for travelers. The food is fresh, the staff is courteous and helpful. There is a bonus for shopping at this store. Save your receipt for a parting souvenir.
