The ranch is amazing. Our guides were very knowledgeable, safe and fun. We really had a great time. Horses beautiful, gentle, the view spectacular!

I was looking forward to this, and maybe built it up a little too much in my mind. There just wasn't any magic to it. We went in a group of about 13 people. There was lots of waiting. Waiting to get on the horse, waiting for others to get on the horse, waiting in line to walk down a steep pathway, waiting to have our picture taken at the base (admittedly a beautiful view), then waiting to go back up, and waiting to dismount. The ride is nose-to-tail, which was disappointing, but necessary in the area they had us going. But there's no magic in nose-to-tail.
The paniolos and support personnel were perfectly pleasant and friendly and patient. I had just been hoping for something a little more free-form, where my group could be next to each other, not behind each other.

We had a great time with the amazing scenic views and the sweet horses. The trail is steep incline, so it takes a while to go down and up. Would recommend!

My husband and I had a fabulous time. The crew was top notch. We were given a riding pre-lesson by Chase. How to mount, how to hold the reins, how to stop, and what not to do with your horse on the ride. My husband and I had the “bromance couple of horses.” They were perfect for us because they always stuck together and didn’t mind being close with each other. The other wranglers on our trip, Cooper and Pino were equally helpful and knowledgeable. We had a great time with beautiful views of the ocean. I’d recommend this trip to everyone!

Don’t hesitate just do it. Outstanding adventure. Staff is awesome very attentive. Duke, Shrek, Blondie, Aloha we’re the stars of the show we were just along for the ride. Kidding aside worth every penny. Experience and setting cannot be match.

Knowledgeable and kind staff..History of Maui and the horses..breathtaking views! Would absolutely do again! This is what Maui is all about- natural environment!

So much fun! The wranglers were friendly, funny and very easy in the eyes! Horses were calm and easy to navigate for a first time rider like myself. Such a fun way to enjoy the wonderful Maui views and learn the history behind Mendes Ranch. A great experience all around.

Was amazing, the whole team and the little leader cowboy who did a great job on the trail. The knowledge, the communication, skill level amd hospitality is on point. Nightmare was the one I got. She is a beauty and very sweet. Im a soft for animals. I so wanted to give them all a snack to say thank you. The history maoes you appreciate the small things we all over look. Plus learning about hey hey made me feel Disney did their research not fully knowing the full extent of this amazing ranch. Well worth the time, and the money.

This was by far my favorite activity in Maui!!! My horse Aloha was incredible and made me feel comfortable the whole time. The ranch managers and staff are excellent! They make you feel safe the whole time! I had a blast and wish I could have spent the entire day at the ranch!

Coming in March...Curious if the lunch is offered with both morning and afternoon rides and which is a better option? Like for the afternoon ride...is the lunch prior to the ride or after? Morning ride I do realize if there is a lunch, it would be after. Thank you.

The last response is correct. Lunch after the morning and before the afternoon ride. Actually, lunch is served at the same time, so morning and afternoon riders can mingle. If you are afternoon rider, you need to think about the helmets. Same ones that are used in the morning. Head scarf, hat, or your own is recommended (a can of Lysol doesn't seem to do the trick)

Can my 13 year old granddaughter ride with a tour without me going as well?

Yes. There are 2 guides with the group and tell them to pay attention to your grandaughter and they will. There was an 8 yr old in our group. The horses are gentle. If she does not want to gallop, tell the guide as there are 2 areas that the horses gallop, but you don't have to.
