This was my first visit to this theatre and, although a huge theatre fan, my first visit to a Broadway show.

I had a great seat at the back of the stalls and saw Parade, which was excellent and a thoroughly great experience all-round. I was really impressed by how attentive and helpful the ushers were.

Excellent location in the heart of Broadway.

Highly recommend.

This theater is beautiful. Going here is getting the true old time theater experience. There are a lot of stairs but that is what you get in these theaters. The decor was gorgeous and the whole place was decked out for PARADE which I saw which was a very much audience submersive experience. I had second row balcony for this show which was a perfect seat and honestly better than the orchestra for the setup of the show, At first I worried for the seats felt a little cramped and I am a tall 6 feet. Not once throughout the whole show did I get uncomortable. I have long legs and I was very comfortable and the room between seats was ideal. And the lower floor where the rest rooms are is also lovely. And as for PARADE it was one of the best theatrical experiences I have ever had. Truly amazing. I recommend PARADE and if any show goes to this theater you want to see all seats seem to be good. A true experience.

My wife, son and daughter visited this theater to see Almost Famous. Although we were not crazy about the show (it’s actually closing this month) , we found the theater to be very nice, and would recommend it for future shows. The seats were comfortable and reasonably priced for Broadway orchestra seats.

My family came to see "Almost Famous" over Thanksgiving week. When my daughter attempted to go downstairs to use the restroom, midway through Act 1, a male usher put his hands on her and roughly pushed her back, twice. When she demanded that he not touch her, he grabbed her arm, swung her around and roughly pushed her again back in the direction of her seat. Completely unacceptable for a theater employee to touch and physically push a theatergoer, who was just trying to use the restroom (earlier, a male member of our party was able to use the restroom with no issues). My daughter was very upset after the incident and complained to the theater manager. The usher in question called her a liar and the manager suggested she concocted the whole story (why would we pay over $1,000 in tickets just to make this up??) When she asked to see security footage in order to prove what happened, she was denied. My daughter no longer felt safe in the theater, so we all left, missing the entire 2nd act. I would avoid this theater at all costs, as their staff are permitted to get physical with female theatergoers without any repercussions. A formal complaint was filed with The Shubert Organization but to date, has been ignored.

This is a relatively small theater so nearly every seat is a good seat. During the intermission the bathroom line will be very long but it moves suprisingly quickly.

We saw the Broadway show Company at the Bernard Jacobs Theater on Friday evening. It was a great experience. The staff is great at getting you to your seat quickly and efficiently. They are upbeat, realizing going to see a Broadway show is a big thing. We had seats in the third row, but far to the right. The tickets were about $79, which is about half the price of seats just a few feet to our left. We were fine with our seats.

The show was great. There was an intermission, but since the house was full, we stayed in our seats.

Various websites fill you in on Covid protocols by theater. That helps a lot. The air was moving during the entire show, so the air conditioning must be great. We kept our masks on as a precaution.

There is a negative, regardless of theater. Most of the shows tend to get out at the same time, about 10:00 PM. Hundreds of people are walking to the subways or trying to find a taxi. We walked down to 6th Avenue and found a taxi.

It was a great theater experience.

We thoroughly enjoyed Stephen Sondheim’s COMPANY, transformed, as it is for the 21st century, with some extraordinary script changes which Sondheim himself approved shortly before he died last Fall.

It's a story about marriage, originally produced in 1970, when it was showered with awards (best musical, best score, best lyrics, best direction, etc.) and recognition. At that time, the story centered on “Bobby,” who was agonizing over why he wasn’t married when so many of his friends were.

In the 2022 version we saw, “Bobby” has become “Bobbie” in a gender switch Sondheim apparently considered brilliant, with good reason. Katrina Lenk (“The Band’s Visit,” “Ozark, “ “Tommy,” “The Good Fight,” “Mrs. Maisel”) is absolutely sparkling as “Bobbie,” easily eclipsing the marquee headliner Patti Lupone (who is excellent in her own much more limited role). Lenk is energetic, expressive, sexy and constantly versatile in COMPANY.

Because the play is really a series of vignettes, with little but the characters linking them, the staging on Broadway today is clever. Stage sets move in and out, up and down, with Lenk, in a crimson pantsuit, sweeping through doors and even disappearing through a hole in the stage floor at one point. It was amazing, actually, to see how such a large cast could be crammed into some of the scenes.

For me, the highlight of the 2022 performance came near the end of Act I, when “Jamie” and “Paul” (a gay couple on their wedding day) sing the cold-feet song “Getting Married Today” amid a chaotic apartment kitchen scene just before their wedding. (In the 1970 version, the couple getting married were heterosexual.) The combination of Sondheim’s original lyrics with the gender transformation and hysterical scenic gimmicks is among my most memorable theater moments.

Another scene merits special praise: The bedroom seduction number, “Barcelona,” in Act II, in which “Bobbie” imagines herself married to “Andy,” the strapping-but not-so-smart flight attendant she’s dating. The vignette is filled with hilarious details. (If you see the play, remember what I’m saying when you watch Lenk, as “Bobbie,” recount a previous date when she couldn’t find her way back to the one-night-stand motel after picking up a pizza. Especially observe Lenk's performance when she says she “Couldn’t. Find. It.”) Hard to describe.

If you have a chance to see COMPANY, do it. The experience is a wonderful example of how a culturally dated show script can be magically made relevant and contemporary in the hands of excellent writers, performers and producers, and an especially talented visionary director, Marianne Elliott.

The Bernard Jacobs Theatre has been nicely restored, though not quite as lovingly as some of the others we recently visited. Among other things, the theater has only one set of restrooms, in the basement, which means every patron, on every seating level, must navigate steep and crowded stairs before, during and after the show. Seating is cramped. But the stage, the lighting and the overall production make the experience well-worthwhile for theater goers of every generation.

I was thrilled to see Company (and Patti LuPone) from the second row and had a great vantage point. Loved that the merchandise was in the back of the theater as opposed to the lobby.

Prior to the show, it was a little confusing as the lines for Company and Come From Away merged together as the theaters are close to one another in proximity.

I loved getting to see Company here! We were off to the side a bit, but the stage is very wide and most of the scenes happen right in the middle, so we still had a great view.
