We have not been to the BSO in quite some time, and we were completely taken aback at the many changes that have taken place. We were surprised to see that Casual Friday has come to the BSO. Have we lost all sense of decorum? People were dressed in what looked like their pj’s, sweatpants, hoodies, tennis shoes, and the like. In addition, we were appalled to see that snacks and drinks can now be taken into the concert hall. What a shame!
There was a short performance in the main lobby by OrchKids prior to the main performance. Orchkids was started while Marin Alsop was the conductor in residence for the BSO. Their performance was brilliant.
We had tickets in Box B on the Terrace Level, which we do not recommend to anyone. I had to lean over the rail to only see half of the stage. (We were so close to the lights!)
It was nice to have Marin Alsop return to conduct. She received a rousing welcome from the audience. There were two pieces played - Carlos Simon “Amen” and Charles Ives “Symphony No. 2” before the intermission. What we really came for was to see Yuchan Lim play the Sergei Rachmaninoff “Piano Concerto No 3 in C Minor. op 18.” Mr. Lim brought the house down. He is the youngest person ever to win gold at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition at the age of 18. Mr. Lim had several curtain calls and played one encore. It was an incredible performance by Mr. Lim, Marin Alsop, and the BSO orchestra.

The Meyerhoff is a fantastic venue for music with incredible acoustics and excellent sight lines. The BSO and a 6 man band collaborated for the evening on Revolution: The Music Of The Beatles to a pretty full house. The music the Beatles brought to the world may never be surpassed in brilliance and the show gave you a 1st hand glimpse of their genius with sounds of their studio experimentation. The evening highlight might have been the magnificent rendition of Eleanor Rigby. After hearing that I was surprised, they didn't have the masterful A Day In The Life in the set list.

Beautiful, spacious venue for hearing the terrific Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. It didn't seem that there was a bad seat in the hall.

This was a really cool experience. To hear a score played live while watching the movie was impressive to say the least. Great show.

Got in line 20 plus min ahead show.
Staff not organized for volume of paid patrons entering. Vaccinations/ ID check.
Slow line to get in and no warning of venue about to start. We are told that now have to miss first 20 min as it started. Was told by Mgr that doors cannot open as it bothers the musicians when the light shines in???.
Now unhappy group of people have to sit in terrace section until intermission and then we can sit in seats we paid for . I Chose close seats as i have vision issues and wife was in a therapy boot. We counted 40 plus people's in same upsetting situation of waiting and missing show as well. This lack of client support to make sure all patrons are seated is bad. . Impressive entertainment is there but I will not return for any show there after this being first time and how screwed up it became

We came for a Backstage Tour of the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall sponsored by Doors Open Baltimore. We started with a brief history in the lobby. The Meyerhoff opened in 1982 with a seating capacity of 2,443. It is, of course, the home of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. It is named for Joseph Meyerhoff, a Ukrainian-Jewish, Baltimore businessman, philanthropist, and arts patron who served as president of the Baltimore Symphony. We were pleased to learn that the oval shaped structure was designed by an Italian, Pietro Belluschi, along with Jung/Brannen Associates. The hall was designed to fit into the footprint of the surrounding streets. It is oval or egg shaped. Rebecca Cain, Senior Director of Operations, then led us to see the backstage; explaining all the way what we were seeing. On either side of the stage are rooms used by the musicians before, during and after their performances. You move from one room to another along a curved corridor to the other side. We were able to see the Conductor’s Room and then go on stage. It is really interesting to look at the auditorium from the stage. She explained all the workings of the stage and how they can make it larger or smaller depending on their needs and how pianos are raised and lowered. From here, you really get a clear understanding that this is not a square building, but a building with lots of curves that only serve to enhance the superior sound in the hall. We then were taken thru the Zamoiski Room, so called Green Room (that is really not green) and back out to the lobby. The tour was very nice, but we were disappointed. We thought we would be seeing more than what we did.

My husband and I enjoyed a beautiful concert here. The staff is so helpful, and even allowed us to view different seating areas before the concert. The orchestra was amazing, and we thoroughly enjoyed hearing Ben Crawford for the first time. I hope to come back in the future!

Attended the Cirque Nutcracker with the BSO for the holiday show. Music was fab6. The performers were very good. Their acrobatic stunts were over the top. So very good. A performance along with the music worth seeing again

We got to do both a tour backstage and then see a performance the following night. This place is fantastic. The tour was great and we really got a good sense of what it's like to perform and work here. We then got to wait in the lobby and we played games and it was a nice space to chill and wait in. Then we went to our Chorus clinic, and our instructor (who's name escapes me) was fantastic. And the BBQ buffet we then had was also great.
The acoustics inside the space are really great, and the best thing about the place is its design and just how nice it looks. I love some good architecture and boy does this place have it. Definitely worth a visit under any circumstances, and if you can take a tour, definitely do it! I got to stand on the stage of the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall which is kinda awesome.

What a delightful venue! Excellent acoustics (better than the Kennedy Center Concert Hall), good views of the stage, good parking nearby that doesn't take a long wait to get into or out of. Bal'm'r got this one right!

I'm 6'5 and 350lbs. How wide are the seats and is there any leg room. I really want to attend a concert but I'm afraid I won't be able fit in the seat. My Wife and I attended an event at the Hippodrome and I could not seat in the seat. There was no leg room. I was very embarrassed. Please advise.....

I'm looking for a hotel near the Hall; is there one which is close by BWI and the Hall? I am not familiar with Baltimore at all but my daughter and I are flying in from Maine to see a concert at the Meyerhoff Hall on 3/15/15. We'd also like to take the train down to DC and visit the Nat'l Aquarium in Baltimore. Is there a hotel near all of these things?
