If you visit Baltimore, you must make a stop in Hampden. This is quintesscential Baltimore Hon. There are a host of vintage shops and privately owned restaurants that make up this melting pot.

What never disappoints is a trip to see the Miracle on 34th Street in Hampden. The street is lit up for all to enjoy. This year for the first time, there was a house decorated for Hanukkah. We never miss coming to see the lights. We were able to drive up and down the street on Christmas Eve. There were so many families, all with smiles, enjoying this special treat by the owners of the 700 block of 34th Street. Thank you for keeping the tradition alive.

Christmas would not be Christmas without a stop to the 700 block of 34th Street in Baltimore. Here is where they make Christmas come alive. The entire block decorates their homes – zillions of lights, statues, figures, and decorations of all types. It is a sight to behold. Thank you so much for keeping this tradition alive for all of us.

Hampden is slowly digressing and the walls are closing in from outside neighborhoods. Once a neighborhood that represented families and the working class is no more. In it's replacement, a handful of restaurants struggling to keep the neighborhood hype alive. Panhandlers are becoming very common in addition to the "We Buy Houses" signs often found in the poorer neighborhoods. These are the initial signs of distress and once the crime begins, people will flee inviting yet another ghetto in the decreasing population city of Baltimore.

We took a drive to see the Miracle on 34th Street. It is something we do every year. We were so happy to see not even a pandemic could stop the lighting of this iconic street in Hampden. The safest way to view it is in your car. We took a leisurely drive thru that gave us the opportunity to take some pictures.

A handful of people tried to make something here once, but it's mostly drunks, junkies, and indie hipsters. Judgemental liberals who hate whoevers not just like them. Overpriced eateries and bad tattoo shops. You're better off heading to Fells Point.

Just about every week, I drive over to Hampden. It doesn't matter if it is night or day. I like to walk on its "Avenue" aka 36th Street. It's about a five block walk. It has a number of really fine restaurants, bars and shops on it and two great ice creams shops. My favorite stop for a drink and lunch is Frazier's Bar. Around Christmas time, 34th Street in Hampden is all lit up in holiday colors with bright lights. The kids love it. Also, it's the season for Christmas parades along the Avenue. Expect to see Santa Claus and the Mayor of Baltimore smiling away in the festivities. One of the annual festivals held there is called "HONfest." Expect to witness folks dressed in colorful costumes and huge hairdos. Hampden was once a working class bastion. Now, it's a mixture of working class, yuppies and tourists. Hampden is an authentic slice of Baltimore and visitors can feel very welcomed there. When one of my relatives land in Baltimore, you can be sure that Hampden will be on my itinerary.

Whether you are looking for vegan ice cream, sex toys, comic books, ram's horns - you can find it in Hampden. Plus lots of hipster families. Tons of fun browsing and in the winter you can visit Miracle on 34th Street to see the lights. Paulie Gee's, the Charmery, and Golden West are some good places to eat.
The shopping is much more interesting than Fell's Point, which feels more touristy. This is a much better picture of Baltimore. The street parking is usually pretty busy but you can find a place - be prepared to back in to a diagonal spot, because that's how they do it here.

Great food and shopping, one of the few great places in Baltimore. Lively district similar to Fels point but without all the drunk frat boys.

sorry I didn't see your question last week. Most places can handle a table for 8. I would go to the Café Hun, though very busy they have large tables, good service, kid friendly, and a family friendly menu.
