Good food, limited choices

Not all stores were open and not a real wide selection for a meal ready to eat, however, the food that is available is definitely made with love!!!

Fun market with local restaurants, fresh meat and produce, and household items

We decided to visit Sweet Auburn Market because it is located on the Street Car route. It is a historic market dating back to 1918 when it operated under a tent on a burnt piece of land from the 1917 Atlanta fire. In 1924, the women's league raised money for a brick building , which ia still the home for the Sweet Auburn Curb Market. At the market, we had the bbq pork from Sweet Auburn Barbeque and cookies from Sweet Auburn Bakery. I'd highly recommend both. There are tables to sit in the center of the market to enjoy the food and the people watching. Atlanta visitors should stop in to get a taste of the local culture.

A taste of real life in Atlanta

My group of four purchased one-day passes on the Atlanta streetcar and this market is just steps from where the streetcar stops. I was so delighted to see what was inside the moment I walked in -- locals going about their daily life buying produce and meat, lunch or snacks and beverages. Maybe there were some visitors from out of town besides us, but it had the vibe of a marketplace that was serving the community as well at appealing to others who might be travelling from farther away. It reminded me of the market on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx, another place that reflects the local community. We all bought different things to either eat right there or take home, and I think everyone was satisfied with the many choices we had. I had a lunch plate special from Metro Deli and Soul Food; it was delicious and filling and the workers were all very nice. After I bought my food and sat down at a nearby table, many more people, locals I think, got in line and then I knew I had made the right choice. One person in our group got an arepa and that got high marks, too. Later I regretted that I did not buy a slice of cake or candies at other merchants to take with me. I had read about the other markets in Atlanta and I'm glad I chose to visit this one.

Loved my visit to the market. It was hard to decide on just 2 or 3 purchases. I wanted to buy the place out.

This is a cool market on the street car route. There was lots of food options and a few nice produce stands. The meats looks great, but we lacked the means to cook. Check out the bakery, the apple fritter was divine!

In this market you can buy all sorts of fresh meats, fruits & vegetables. There are also many eating establishments located here representing places from around the world. It is all so cool. The restaurants are happy to give you samples. It is all so interesting & tasty. If you’d like to try something new & different, come here while in Atlanta.

Good Food and Fun - an Atlanta Experience

I love this place! Where else can you have lunch with soooooo many choices - soul food, BBQ, great hamburgers, South African meat pies, arepa, poke, Jamaican, and more. After lunch, you can wander around and peruse the fresh fruits and vegetables and all the pig parts known to man. My personal favorites are the excellent cured ham hocks and seasoning meat (both pork and turkey) that can be used to cook the big bags of collards that have been cleaned, stems removed, and chopped for you. Ready to go into the pot.

Don't leave without a goodie from the bakery or an excellent praline from Miss D's.

One hour of free parking when you validate your ticket inside the market. Hours are limited and parking can be tight at lunchtime.

Great Place for Lunch and Shopping

This place has a few different restaurants from pizza, burgers, Caribbean, coffee and a few small grocery markets focused on fresh vegetables and meats. For desert you can have a cupcake and a coffee. Pretty cool place close to Grady Hospital if you want lunch options.

This is a fun little market with delightful food options covering many styles of ready made items as well as groceries. Everything seemed so fresh. There is plenty of seating as well as availability to purchase some goods other then food.
