Very highly recommended. Lovely peaceful secluded location with views across the valley and down to White Sands (actually black) beach, and just the sound of birds and the volcano rumbling. You can see the volcano glowing at night from the garden. Very very good value meals. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Power mostly on solar with backup generator. We stayed 2 nights. Marcel and Sylvie are wonderful hosts. Marcel is very knowledgeable about the local area and teaches French at the local school. Sylvie produced brilliant meals of fried bread and fresh fruit platters for breakfast, omelettes with rice and local veggie coconut curry for lunch, and on our final night (New Year’s Eve) a feast with fresh tuna and beef, taro and veggies. Marcel very kindly went to Lenakel for us to fetch red wine for the dinner. Marcel organised a local guide, Patrick, who usually works at the upmarket resorts on the west coast and chauffeured Will Smith on the island a few weeks ago! At first we thought some outdoor seating or blankets would be useful, but then realised everything that’s left out overnight gets covered in a fine layer of volcanic ash! Located at the end of the sealed road from Lenakel, so easy access about 45-60min drive from the airport and about 30 mins drive to the volcano entrance. They’re planning to install a new generator and fridge next month so will be able to supply cold beer!…

We stayed at Tanna Top View in July. As a family with 3 young children plus Grandma we had a wonderful visit in peaceful surroundings. Marcel, the host, is very helpful and organised a school visit as well as some of the ladies to demonstrate local arts. Meals (extra) are truly amazing, prepared to fit in with guests’ needs – all fresh. Thanks, Sylvie. Beds were comfy and rooms spacious. We had running water (not all places do) and hot water was shortly to be connected. We were there for two full days so were able to visit Mt Yasur on the first day after lunch. This suited well as the next day was very windy. Do be prepared to pay cash at Mt Yasur. No card facility! If you want to go to a local village, e.g. Yakel, stress this either before you arrive or straight after as it has to be arranged ahead. We can thoroughly recommend Tanna Top View for the facilities, service and above all the warm hospitality which leaves the most lasting impression.…

This is the 4th time we have stayed at Tanna Top View bungalows. There were 5 of us and Marcel was happy for 3 of us to stay in a tent which he provided right next to the restaurant. The ladies even made up the beds in the tent beautifully. Other guests were staying in a bungalow so Marcel put himself out to accommodate us at short notice. Beautiful food and plenty of family interaction. Hot water showers are in tne pipeline for later this year. Lots of fun and laughter and happy memories.

Quiet mountain retreat in the centre of the Island. Nothing is too much trouble for the friendly owners of the bungalows. Nice spacious bungalows. Lovely and clean and serviced daily. Sylvie is a very good cook and took good care of us.
