You quickly become family at Aras Owen. The hostel is delightful. Warm, basic rooms have all needed amenities and no frills. The hostel kitchen is well equipped and provides lots of extras to help you eat here. Host Robert is a delight to chat with in his cosy sitting room and we often whiled away an evening in front of his glowing stove. We often return here. Highly recommended.

I liked this place right away. Lovely garden grounds, well kept (always a good sign), charming and atmospheric inside with some cosy sitting rooms with wood burning stoves.Great kitchen facilities. Took a wee bit of time ot find any one when I arrived but it is a charitable organisation.Warm welcome, lots of leaflets and books on the area and Ireland.Would definitely stay again. Ballyliffen itself is a pretty village, nice pub and a big strecth of sand/shingle beach nearby too.Lovely area which was good to base in for a night before driving to Malin Head.Excellent value too. Very easy to find as its on the main road but well set back so no noise as such (plus it isn't hugely busy anyway.)
