Hello We love your place. We have 4 pound Yorkie that always travel with us. Do you accept pets? Thank you Maritza Kennedy
Hello Maritza! Although we have dogs of our own, we do not allow for guests to bring their dog/s. We do not allow our own dogs in the common areas (except if guest wants to give a quick pet) and NEVER in the guest rooms. We have decided on this policy for several reason. We actually get many calls from potential guests asking if we allow pets in the rooms because they are allergic to dogs and/or cats. They want to make sure that the room they are booking is not going to cause a reaction. With our dogs, they are never allowed in guest rooms and rarely in a common area. They go up and down the stairs between my apartment and the private office and their fenced in private yard. We never hide that we have dogs of our own but make it clear that they are never in guest rooms and are not permitted to roam freely in the house. Although I assume you are a very responsible dog owner, when I first purchased the inn 6 years ago, we did allow someone to bring a dog. Even though we were clear that the dog could not be left in the room alone, they did leave the dog unattended. Unfortunately, due to some separation anxiety (all alone in a new place), the dog did quite a bit of damage to the furniture, flooring, and bedding in a very short period of time. Since this would include breakfast time, having a dog in the dinning room would be off-putting to some guests and dangerous for those with allergies. I know that was a lengthy explanation to a simple answer but I wanted to be clear that we do love dog but that it is just not a good environment for guests to bring their own dog/s. All that said, we do comply with all ADA regulations concerning persons with disabilities that require a service animal. A service animal is a dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for a person with a disability. Generally, title II and title III entities must permit service animals to accompany people with disabilities in all areas where members of the public are allowed to go. Emotional support animals, comfort animals, and therapy dogs are not service animals under Title II and Title III of the ADA. Other species of animals, whether wild or domestic, trained or untrained, are not considered service animals either. Thank you for your understanding! Have a great day!

Is this far away from Downtown Portland?
Hello! We are located in the West End neighborhood, where all the bed and breakfasts are located... it is also part of the Peninsula, which is Downtown. Our "shopping" district is referred to as the Old Port which is right in the center of Downtown. We are about a 15-20 minute walk to the heart of the Old Port or an under 5 minute taxi/uber ride away. The West End is considered one of the most desirable areas to live in Portland due to the wonderful historic homes and very quite nature. Staying directly in the Old Port can be a noisy experience, especially late on the the weekends since there are lots of bars and night entertainment. Walking between the Old Port and The West End is very easy and safe... just use common sense late at night!

All of our rooms and bathrooms are on the second floor of the inn. Two of our rooms have their bathrooms en suite (The Longfellow & The Abbott) and two rooms have their bathrooms across the hall (The Chamberlain & The Baxter). All bathrooms are private--guests do not share bathrooms. For The Chamberlain, you cross the main hallway. The Baxter Room is set in the back of the house after the hallway makes a 90 degree turn so no other guests see down that hallway. The bathroom door faces the bedroom door. Since the only common area on the second floor is the hallway and since we only have four guest rooms, running into other guests is rare. Many people are concerned about the bathroom being connected but many of our TripAdvisor reviews put people at ease about privacy and convenience. We just like everyone to know what they are getting when making a room selection so there are no surprises at check-in! I hope that helped! Scot

Hello Bill! We are not currently offering any Stay & Gourmet Wine Weekends. We started them as a way to attract business during the low season but we have seen a huge increase in our winter occupancy, especially on the weekends. We do still have them for guests that rent the entire house by request. Give me a call if you would like to chat about that!
