First of all parking was quite the experience, no on premise parking. Be prepared to spend $25 per car per night to park across the street and run through the rain to get back to the hotel. The option is metered street parking requiring feeding the meter every 2 hours until 9 PM. Once in the room, there was no ice bucket, no refrigerator, but an expresso machine. The was nothing wrong with the room but also nothing special. The bathroom was nice. I was expecting this Curio Collection Hotel to be much more upscale or impressive; just something a little more special. Staff was friendly, hotel was clean, location is convenient, just lacks parking.
We stayed on the second weekend after this property opened. The lobby and rooms are gorgeous with no detail spared when it comes to style and quality finishes. We spend 15-20 nights a year in Omaha and have been looking for a high end property associated with a major hotel chain where we can earn and use rewards points. Finally, Hilton came through for us with this stylish hotel, part of the Curio collection. We were in Room 512, a "falcon view" room with a couple of small windows to the outside to let in natural light and a couple of large windows facing the interior outside wall showing the 6-story falcon panorama. It was a larger room with a sitting area, 2 queen beds, and a private hallway away from the noise and bustle of guests coming and going. It was nice and quiet, but there is no view of the outdoors if that's something important. I prefer this type of setting to avoid street noise and rowdy neighbors. It was very peaceful. The rooms are luxurious and old school luxe with a vintage vibe, decorated in rich browns and warm, inviting golds. It was a nice change from the trend toward hotels being various shades of gray, which can be dreary. Check in was friendly but I had a hard time hearing because of the masks, plexiglass divider and noise from the lobby bar. We couldn't get Wifi to work. I could have called the front desk to resolve, but I didn't have reception in the basement gym where I was trying to connect, so I just gave up. Front desk wasn't particularly helpful at check out when I mentioned that and didn't seem very interested in how our stay was. She seemed a little annoyed that she had to check us out, and chastized me a little for mentioning the Wifi issue as if I was stupid for not calling the front desk to resolve. I think they upgraded my room and probably switched the room number at the last minute then forgot to update the computer since my name and room number wasn't working to connect to Wifi. This has happened before, and I certainly did appreciate getting a nice large room, so it's not that big a deal. I mentioned this at check out, and the front desk was completely uninterested in my attempt to 1) express appreciation for the upgrade; and 2) suggest a possible issue that might help a future guest avoid the same result with Wifi. So, maybe just a training issue. I wouldn't put people at the front desk unless they've got a welcoming personality if I were managing a hotel. We parked outside at a meter since it was the weekend and meters are free after 9pm on Friday night. That saved us $25. I'm not sure it was a wise idea to leave the car on the street, but since I found a spot right in front of the lobby I figured it would be less likely that someone would disturb the car. They do have in and out privileges at a ramp across the street, but I'm not sure if there is valet parking as I didn't ask. I'm booked again this weekend. Right now the rates are very competitive, but I imagine they are running introductory rates for the first few weeks and rates will probably go up over time. Overall, this is a great option for downtown Omaha. I would highly recommend it!…
The Peregrine is a wonderful property!! It definitely fits in the category of boutique hotels. Our check in was smooth. Johnny and Angela were both great at the front desk. The entire place is decorated in a falcon them (an homage to some falcons who nest on a nearby tower in Omaha.) Whoever was hired to decorate did an outstanding job!! There are little falcon & feather touches throughout the hotel, including the rooms. Speaking of the room, it was not large, but it was very clean, and had upscale touches all over. Next time I'm in Omaha, I'll be staying here again. Highly recommended!!
