- The villa is on a hill looking down on the Medieval Center of San Savino. It is the last villa at the top and then the road starts down into olive groves—the setting is special. The villa is spacious and comfortable with plenty of room, a dishwasher, and washing machine. Clothes dry quickly outside with two drying racks. - There are a few things to mention that we noticed, but did not spoil our time: the mattresses were a bit hard, but I folded a quilt and slept on top of it which solved that problem; the bathroom we were not using developed an odor which we fixed by just running water in the drains; the dishwasher would start if we accidentally closed the door (we may not have understood how to use it). These were all small things easily dealt with. - Our hostess, Fabiana, was extremely responsive to the few issues we had which were quickly resolved. Both she and her husband, our villa neighbors, were welcoming, bearing gifts of wine, gelato, and olive oil. Sometimes it was hard to leave the villa to do the tourist thing, but when we did go out, we always looked forward to getting back and sitting by the pool, enjoying a glass of wine and the view. - San Savino is small and friendly with my favorite restaurant of all that I dined at in Rome, Amalfi Coast, and Tuscany, Restaurante Pizzeria il Casserio. The Medieval Center is worth exploring with other good restaurants and exceptional wines. - The location is out of the hustle and bustle of the major cities, but within a reasonable driving distance of Sienna, Florence, Arezzo, and other towns nearby. We spent 2 days in Rome, took the train to Arezzo, and then rented a car for our week in Tuscany. We really appreciated our country villa after the hustle and bustle of Rome. - There is a wonderful wine tour, Vini di Toscano, just 15 minutes from the villa. Our host Andrea, was extremely knowledgeable, very responsive to questions, and seemed willing to spend all afternoon with us. - If you want to get a taste of the Tuscan country side, but still be able to visit the cities, I recommend San Savino and Villa Torricella.…
