We have been renting our cottage out for the past five years through this site and the other main short rental site where we have hosted over 100 stays with an average of 4.8 stars. We could not maintain this rating nor our superhost status if anything in this review was remotely true.

I had to engage Tripadvisor to help mediate and resolve these issues with this guest as she left our cottage in a mess and refused to take any accountablity. But what was hurtful and scary was her ability to make up stories as you can see in this review to avoid paying for the damages that her and her group caused. When I engaged Tripadvisors, I sent all the text I recieved from this renter upon arrival and when she left. She text the place was beautiful upon arrival with no issues and when she left she said she had a great time. Her story changed when I had submitted damage charges. The case was not dismissed as she claims in her review, she put up such a fight making up more and more stories that at the end of the day it was not persuing further. The amounts we were asking for wasn't even that much. It was the princple of it. Yet this women makes it sounds like it's my common practice to squeeze guest out of money. She did not provide "numerous pictures." Tripadvisor did not dismissed the case in her favour. There was a limit to how much Tripadvisor could do when the guest refused to pay.

We value all the guests that have entrusted their vacation time with us and everyone has been fantastic. Most guest would just admit to when they have damaged something and we move on. This guest unfortunately is the exception. Let us our history of putting our guest first speak for itself not the lies that this guests wants you to believe because she felt she was above reproach.
