Had a great time at calath , great location with lots to do around the area and further afield, the views at calath are jst amazing, the house was great to stay for the week, we did not want to leave, had everything in you need, thanks for a great week. X Some pictures of views from the house🥰

After a very brief visit to Skye in Summer 2018 we always stated we needed to go back for longer. With family of 8 in tow we set off to Calath wondering if the correct choice of location was made. What was the worry, we all agreed a beautiful location, the view from main window was like a painting which looked different on a daily basis, one that you could look over every day and never tire. Plenty of space, not too far off main track but far enough for the tranquillity we required. Perfect for touring the Island, we will certainly return.

Located on the shores of Loch Harport Calath makes an excellent base for exploring the Cuillin, but not too far from Portree in the very centre of the island, too. The house is very spacious and has everything you may need. The icing on the cake is the huge window in the living room, where you can admire "The Ridge" like a framed picture. Nice bedrooms with comfy beds, a bath tub and real fire stove for cosy evenings after wet days in the hills. Plenty of space to store your outdoor gear and a (small) utility room with washing machine and clothes rack. Alan has been a very friendly host from the booking until the end of our stay.

What a beautiful situation Calath has with the amazing views of the ever changing Cullins. Very central location for touring the whole of Skye as not too far off the beaten track. The house is extremely comfortable with everything you would need and more. Being keen walkers and kayakers we were able to see plenty of wild life on and around the loch, 6 sea eagles on one afternoon. Would highly recommend Calath for a holiday as it offers something for everyone

And that’s just the whisky! This was a perfect location, with amazing panoramic views of the sea and rugged landscape from every window, light streaming into the spacious, modern kitchen and relaxing lounge. All the rooms were well proportioned and there was plenty of room for our party of six. Carbost is also a cute little village with the glorious Talisker whisky Distillery, well worth a visit and the Oyster Shed, cafe if you love fish a bit rough and ready! You won’t be disappointed with Calath House as you sit and sip looking out to the glass-like Loch Harport reflecting the landscape in the still evening light.

We stayed here over Hogmanay. It suited our party of 5 admirably with 3 spacious bedrooms, all fresh and clean, even down to a fresh bowl of ice cubes. The view over the Loch and Cullins from the picture window is amazing, still missing it! Walking distance of the pub at Carbost. What else can you ask for? Stay here!

We verbleven tijdens de herfstvakantie met 3 (11,106) kinderen en 4 volwassenen in Calath house. Het is een top verblijfplaats dat we iedereen kunnen aanraden. Het huis is zeer rustig gelegen. De uitzichten over de Loch en naar de Black Cuillin zijn prachtig en veranderen meermaals per dag. Toch is het ook een prima centrale lokatie om de rest Skye te ontdekken. Het huis is goed uitgerust, alles is voorzien om zelf te koken. Alan is een aangename, correcte gastheer. We verbleven er tijdens de herfstvakantie en hadden geluk met het weer. Eerst 2 dagen zonnig zonder regen, dag 3 regenachtig, dag 4 en 5 zon met enkele buien. We hadden geluk dat we enkele heldere nachten hadden, we konden zelfs de melkweg zien! Kortom : een aanrader! What a beautiful place! It is spacious and comfortable with a wonderful view. We saw so many rainbows. And it is close to so many great places to see and visit.

We stayed at Calath for a week in August and loved it. There were seven of us (two families) and there was ample room. The location was perfect; within walking distance of Carbost and the perfect base to explore the Isle of Skye, and the views were incredible. The cottage is equipped with (almost) everything needed for your stay (bring your own hand soap and toilet paper!) and offered a warm and cozy place to return to after a day of exploring. Things to see and do close by are: Talisker Distillery, live music at The Old Inn; boat tours; Talisker beach; the artisan craft sale at the community centre (seasonal); Cath Waters Art Studio and the Oyster Shed. The new playground in the village was loved by the kids and the little shop provided essentials (when it was open). We had a very hard time saying goodbye. Alan was always quick to respond.

The plus of the house is the view:: large windows everywhere. Also all the rooms are bigger than what they look in the pictures: so plenty of spaces and light. Allan always answer quickly to emails. Board games and hicking book about the island were appreciated. A few cons: The beds were not so confortable and from all the renting we did in Scoltand, this one had the less small amenities like: hand soap, coffee for fist morning, minimal toilet paper, no aluminum fold or saren wrap etc.
