Rustic Hideaway in the Tuscan Hills
This is, indeed, a lovely restored little stone cottage with rural Tuscan charm, situated in a small village up in the hills 20 mins or so (by car) out of Lucca, and most suited to those who either need a charming retreat ‘away from a busy world’, or who have a bit of an adventurous spirit wanting to explore the surrounds. We visited in early May when the weather was cooler and more unpredictable, and would suggest anyone looking to stay keep a visit to the warmer months as the cottage can be a little cool in the downstairs (living) area ; this would, of course, make it more liveable in the midst of a hot Tuscan summer, especially as it is set alongside a gushing mountain water stream. While we did have a few minor issues with the pre preparation of things for our first of season arrival, these were attended to smoothly, and in good spirit, something that comes with this property : Lauren, the local ‘manager’ was an appreciated asset with her genuine desire to help and to share her local knowledge. So, all things considered, and given the travellers advice above, this is one more adventurous stay to truly consider, and you should be well rewarded. Thank you.

Thanks for your honest but positive review. We do strive to making our guests have a relaxing and pleasent stay in our little cottage but as you said sometime there a few hiccups that were irond out as best possible. Thanks and best regards Roy!

A Beautiful Tuscan Cottage
This is a lovely Tuscan house in a beautiful location. Ideal for a couple. Beautiful garden with apple , fig, plum ,pear and quince trees , including hazel nut tree. The cottage has every thing you need for cooking and resting (including a large outdoor hot tub, hammock, gas grill, and pizza oven The village is near and has a couple of shops and a good local restaurant and easy (15 min ride) to a well stocked supermarket, pharmacy etc. We had a lovely relaxing holiday here and were looked after well by Lauren and Daniel the gardener. Many thanks for the beautiful tasting tomatoes.

Le lieu est parfait .Location calme très bien décoré il ne manque rien .Le plus le spa bien sur !! four a pizza ,restaurant la fonte pas très loin puisse que nous pouvons y aller a pied et très bien et sympa.

An ideal romantic hideaway
This is a really beautiful house. Sitting on the border of a forest, with its own natural stream of fresh water, you get an isolated small house for yourself, equipped with anything you need for cooking and resting (including a large outdoor jacuzzi, hammock, gas grill, and a wood cooking stove. The village is quite enough to feel isolated from the world, but yet has a very nice local restaurant and easy (15 min ride) to a well stocked supermarket, pharmacy etc. As a bonus, they also supply basic wifi internet connection. We have had a perfect vacation there. I only have two small improvement suggestions: the arriving instructions could be more elaborate, and it would be nice to add blinds to the glass part of the entrance door.

Absolute perfection
What a fantastic place to stay. The cottage has been furnished extremely comfortably and contains everything you need for the perfect holiday. We had great fun cooking pizzas in the pizza oven outdoors. The position of the cottage makes it perfect for exploring the area, although up in the mountains it is close enough to the main road to travel about with ease. Then after a day exploring it is a real treat to come back to the perfect cottage and relax over a meal or soak in the hot tub. We loved it all!

The most charming spot on earth!
Myself and my girlfriend rented this property for a week in September 2013. The weather was great - it only rained once and that was the first night! Getting to the house took about 35 minutes or so from Pisa airport - if you have a satnav, use it as directions can be tricky and the satnav knew exactly where to go. The owner, Trish, is an excellent host, very friendly and helpful and telephoned on the day to help out in case we were having any trouble finding the place. When we got to the house, we met Lauren, a lovely and friendly American girl who gave us our keys, took our deposit and showed us around. Trish even left us with a little hamper of local produce (wine, pasta, ragu, milk, coffee, etc) as a welcome gift which was so thoughtful and appreciated. The following days, we got to experience the tranquility and pace of life the are area had to offer. Lauren gave us directions to some local supermarkets and restaurants - our favourite of which was literally a 3 minute walk from the house - a wonderful pizzeria called Le Fonta - their house red is great too and only €5 a bottle - we brought home a few bottles of course! :) The outdoor hot tub was great too - it had built in speakers so you can play a CD or hook up your iPod to it and just soak in the tub in the evenings. One of my favourite days there was one were had not arranged to go anywhere so I got to sit in the garden all day in the sunshine, soaking up the surroundings atmosphere and make some homemade pizza and bake it in the outdoor pizza oven (and drink lots of awesome wine too!) Lucca city was only about a 15/20 minute drive. We took a train (in Lucca) to Florence one day and then another train to Viareggio the next day. The house itself was in great condition, really charming and rustic and typically Tuscan - it's not huge so really, it's only for a couple - but for a couple, I'd say, it's the perfect size. All facilities within the house worked great for us - we had no real issues. With the exception of the mobile Wifi - there seemed to be an issue with it - when it worked, it was great but nearly always had to be topped up first though I think we were the first people to use it and there just might have been an account issue - hopefully it's sorted now. All in all though, I could fault any part of this house - we went for a relaxing, romantic and rustic holiday home and that's what we got! :) Enjoy...

Cosy cottage at the foot of the Apuane mountains
The perfect romantic getaway for couples. We were warmly met by owners Trish and Simon who welcomed us to the property and gave us some lovely local goodies. The cottage, set in beatifully kept gardens with a mill-stream running by the door, is 20 minutes from the beautiful walled city of Lucca, a must-see site in itself. We used the cottage as a base for trips slightly further afield, driving down to San Gimignano and Siena. Another nearby location we loved was the hilltop village of Barga where we enjoyed a lovely pasta lunch. After a hard day's sightseeing an hour or so in the hot tub in the garden under the stars was a great way to unwind. We had great fun making our own pizza which we cooked in the pizza oven. We were most impressed by the quality of the finishing in the cottage which has been a labour of love for Trish and Simon. Lovely old beams with traditional terracotta infill in the ceiling, travertine tiles, stone staircase.... four-poster bed, powerful walk-in shower and Ipod docking station/CD player were a few of the extra touches that made our stay feel like home from home. All in all a special place and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Idyllic Cottage in Beautiful Surroundings
We spent a few days here in the Tuscan hills and wish we could have spent longer. It is set in a very peaceful location and the interior and gardens are both immaculately presented. If you are looking for somewhere for a quiet getaway, this is the perfect location! Everything in the cottage was pretty much as described. It is well-equipped with satellite TV, stereo system with iPod adapter, hot tub etc and the friendly hosts Simon and Trish provided some much-appeciated welcome supplies. If you don't mind a bit of driving you can explore a lot of the highlights of Tuscany from here. Lucca is about half an hour away (and well worth a visit on its own) and we also visited the Tuscan mountains to the north, Cinque Terre on the west coast, Pisa to the south and Florence (where we drove to Lucca and got the train) to the east. One piece of advice: If you're not used to Italian signposting and familiar with the area then print off some maps before you go. Sat nav is helpful to a certain extent, but will take you down a lot of 'interesting' windy backroads!
