Good value and great location
Gorgeous views. Lovely big terraces to enjoy and nice private pool. Taverna very close. Good value for money.

Lovely location and comfortable accommodation
Fabulous property with an amazing location. Views of the lake are breathtaking, and we never got tired of them. The pool is well maintained and the sun terrace is an amazing sun trap. The villa is well appointed with all the things you need for a family. Air conditioning in all rooms and the beds are very comfortable. It has plenty of space for 4 adults. Katrina’s taverna is a 5 second walk away (up the hill), and offers fabulous authentic Greek food. We had lunch there most days. The lake is probably a 10 minute walk down the hill - it will be a slower return walk! The lake is fabulous and has tavernas and shops located nearby. You can have a meal or a drink, or an ice cream. As the other reviewers comment, Georgioupoli is a 10 minute tax and costs 9€. There is plenty to do and see - restaurants, cocktail bars and the beach. Also a very interesting chapel slightly out to sea, accessed via a rocky path.

Excellent with amazing views.
We are slowly moving round Linda's villas as they are great value for money and this one is probably the best for our size of family.
As always the booking process was easy from Linda's team with all the information your require.
The villa is set on two floors with large terraces, the pool is on a lower terrace with access via a gate. This is a great safety feature for families with younger children.
As Linda's other villas they are spotlessly clean on arrival with fresh linen and towels. All information if you have a problem or query is there, however if we have had an issue a quick email has had things sorted within hours. I am not sure about the reviews saying there were issues about the fridge. All was fine when we were there.
The villa has amazing views over the fresh water lake and is minutes from a number of excellent tavernas. Be careful of the portion sizes at the taverna along the road- starters are not required! They also serve a wonderful Cretan beer and wine. On Sundays they cook large chunks of meat on the open fire and spit which tasted amazing.
We hired a car, however the local town and beach is only minutes away by taxi. The information book has the number for taxis. Mention 'Linda' and they seem to come quicker!
We love this place and will try and book it for next year.

UNE VUE INCROYABLE, MAIS CELA NE SUFFIT PAS ...
L'emplacement est idéal, face au lac, à 10 minutes en voiture de Georgioupolis et de la mer. Par contre le confort de la maison est spartiate, la piscine et ses abords ne sont absolument pas entretenue. L'ensemble fait plutôt délabré, la climatisation est présente mais hyper bruyante.
Par contre la vue de la terrasse est magnifique.
Cette location qui est donnée pour 8 personnes, est en fait pour 6, le 7éme dort sur un lit cage et le 8ème se retrouve sur un canapé même pas convertible, le réfrigérateur est juste assez grand pour 2 personnes.
Nous n'avons fait qu'y coucher, préférant le confort des plages avoisinantes.
Je recommande de passer faire un tour sur le site, mais sachez qu'il y a beaucoup mieux à louer autour, car pour le prix nous avons été extrêmement déçu de l’ensemble.

Beautiful location
On arrival at the villa I was blown away by the beautiful view. The villa itself and layout of the terraces is great, especially the pool terrace being sunken for extra privacy . The air conditioning is very welcomed in the night as is the beautiful view of the night sky.
The surrounding tavernas offer delicious fresh food and the staff are really friendly.
If you preferre to be in a quiet relaxed location away from large hotels this is perfect. It’s a ten min taxi ride from the town(approx 8-9 euros) , there are no shops close by so a trip to the supermarket for basics is advisable.
The tavernas by the lake are lovely to visit for an evening meal. Surprisingly very reasonable prices. We all loved our stay at Villa Splendid and wish to visit again in the future .

Fantastic place to stay
We came as a party of 7 at the end of July 2019 for 10 nights with 4 adults, 2 young children (4 and 2 years old) and a teen.
The villa is in a stunning place, almost in the middle of nowhere, as well as being relatively close walking distance to basic amenities (tavernas & tourist shops on the lake) For general food shopping etc you need to go to Giogioupolis (5mins in a taxi).
Downsides to the villa
- If you’re a bit picky about decor, the kitchen & furniture could do with a slight update, but this didn’t really bother us
- Not hugely child friendly, there are a lot of steps and some do have sharp edges.
- The kitchen is on the top floor and accessing it can be a slight pain, particularly if you’re wet from the pool.
- Advertised as being able to accommodate 8 people, however the kitchen is slightly small. Therefore if you were preparing a meal for 8 people, there isn’t much worktop space and not a lot of cupboard space.
Upsides to the villa
- A/C works perfectly
- Wardrobe space is good
- Bathroom is a decent size and also a shower room on the top floor which is handy
- STUNNING LOCATION with breathtaking views over the lake
- 5mins taxi ride or 20mins on the train from Giogioupolis (beaches, shops, bars etc)
- 30 seconds walk from nearest taverna (with child’s play ground too)
- Other tavernas near the lake are around a 10mins walk down the hill (most have a child play area)
- Lovely balcony with table/parasol etc
- Pool area is great with ample room as well as 2 parasols and 8 sunbeds which were comfy
- Mosquito repellent plug ins were provided which was a nice touch & very good.
- Welcome pack of food essentials were very much appreciated
- Villa was clean on arrival with plenty of towels etc
- Cleaner and pool maintenance came half way through our stay which was great.
- Pool has a light and the exterior of the villa is well lit for evenings.
I would recommend a car or some form of transport, ie quad / scooter) but this is certainly not essential.
Any downsides the villa has, pale into insignificance due to location and views.
I did not liaise directly with the owner, but my friend did and she said she had zero issues with the communication with the owners etc.
This is a great place and we are hoping to book again for 2020.
I give this 9/10.

Grande villa au calme
Belle villa très spacieuse avec une vue magnifique sur le lac de Kournas et la mer au loin. La villa est au calme mais bien située pour rayonner sur l'île. Grande piscine avec une vue à couper le souffle, à 50 mètres d'une taverne où l'on mange magnifiquement bien et à un prix très modique.
Le moins pour cette location est que la propriétaire n'est pas sur place, nous avons dû attendre une semaine pour que la climatisation soit réparée dans une chambre, une fois tous les intermédiaires alertés. De plus, la villa est vieillissante et peu d'investissements sont réalisés ; un mini frigo pour 8 sans congélateur qui avait du mal à faire du froid c'est plus que limite sans compter que la propriétaire sur un précédent commentaire s'était engagée à le changer, un an plus tard c'est toujours le même rafistolé avec du scotch, la climatisation qui ne fonctionnait pas dans une chambre, la télévision qui ne fonctionnait pas, un parasol sur la terrasse très fatigué que nous avons dû nous même réparer avec du cordage, une piscine très vite sale dès qu'il y a du vent, pas de lave-vaisselle alors que la villa peut accueillir 8 personnes...
En conclusion villa très agréable, spacieuse, au calme mais qui manque cruellement d'investissements, au regard du prix de location (200 €/par jour).

Thank you for your feedback.. As you are aware in the documentation we sent to you before your arrival we did give you direct contact numbers for our staff who look after the villas for us. The air conditioning was advised to us by our staff that it was in working order and the previous clients in the villa had not advised us of any problems with it but our staff got someone in to check it all over as soon as they could to be as helpful to you as possible. The villa is very well maintained as a traditional Cretian villa and if at any time the pool became dirty due to winds our staff would have kindly come and sorted this out for you if they are made aware. We give all clients their direct numbers so they can help you with any issues as soon as they are made aware. The fridge is in full working order and has been repaired since last year. We were advised it did not need replacing.
We are sorry to hear you found it a little expensive but are glad you overall had a nice holiday.

Villa Splendid
Lovely location peaceful and quiet with great views. Clean linen and towels. Clean pool, cleaned during 7 day stay aswell. Good taverna next door for breakfast and lunch with great coffee and pleasant service. Plenty of sun beds. Books to read and binoculars to use to see views of lovely lake.

Great villa in lovely location
Lovely 3 bed villa with fantastic private pool. Gorgeous views to the lake. The host was very responsive and helpful. Comes with a welcome basket of necessity’s which was very useful. Great taverna close by for food and to access WiFi (none at property). Would definitely recommend both the property and the Lake Kournas area in general.

Pool, lake, sea, mountains - idyllic
The villa has a delightful pool with masses of outdoor space and copious sun loungers. By far the most special thing though is the stunning view of beautiful Lake Kournas below and the sea a little further in the distance. At the lake, pedalos are available and the water is clean and warm for swimming. Plenty of tavernas available too. The villa itself has lots of space and all 3 double rooms lead directly on to the pool area. My only gripe would be a fridge that was far too small for 6 and didn’t get properly cold. A lovely terrace and barbecue also look over the lake. The local town of Georgioupolis is a 10 minute drive away and a lively (if not particularly beautiful) spot with plenty of bars, tavernas and shops, plus a long stretch of sandy beach.
Overall, I highly rate Villa Splendid. We had a glorious stay and I’d be happy to go back!

Payment is accepted by cash or by cheque. Details will be sent in your confirmation letter.
Should you wish to make any amendments to your booking we will endeavour to fulfil your requirements but an admin charge will be made for this. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate you.
