Wij hebben in de meivakantie een week doorgebracht in Utah House, met onze zoons van 12 en 13. Het vakantiehuis, gelegen op 6,5 uur rijden vanaf Utrecht, is gelegen op een soort landgoed met twee 8-persoons vakantiehuizen en een 2-persoons vakantiehuis. De zeer vriendelijke eigenaresse, Samuelle, woont ook op het landgoed met haar kinderen en hun lieve hond, die elke dag wel even gezellig bij ons huis langskwam. De verschillende huizen zijn gebouwd rond 1790 en zeer vakkundig en met oog voor detail verbouwd en ingericht. Wij voelden ons direct thuis in het huis met beneden een ruime woonkeuken, die van alle gemakken is voorzien, op de eerste verdieping een woonkamer, op de tweede verdieping een ruime slaapkamer (tweepersoonsbed) en badkamer, en op de derde en bovenste verdieping nog eens twee slaapkamers (respectievelijk tweepersoonsbed en 4x eenpersoons bed) en een badkamer. Het is geen rechttoe rechtaan huis (veel trappetjes), wat betekent dat het minder geschikt is voor mensen die niet goed ter been zijn. Het vakantiehuis beschikt ook over een ruime eigen tuin, waar onze zoons vaak hebben gevoetbald en we heerlijk in de zon konden zitten en buiten konden eten. De auto kan aan de rand van de tuin geparkeerd worden. Het is gelegen op een super rustige plek, dus zowel overdag als 's nachts geen last van geluid van welke aard dan ook. Wifi is nog niet 100%, maar ik geloof dat er glasvezel internet op de planning staat. Wij konden er nu al prima mee uit de voeten. De schuur met daarin een gezamenlijk zwembad en sauna, was een leuke aanvulling, waar wij dagelijks gebruik van hebben gemaakt. Een auto is noodzakelijk om de omgeving te verkennen en om boodschappen te kunnen doen. Er is een goed uitgeruste Intermarché (met naastgelegen tankstation) op 6 minuten rijden. Wij konden hier prima al onze boodschappen doen. In Normandië is verder enorm veel te doen, veel meer dan ik had verwacht en voor ieder wat wils. Maandagochtend hebben we van Samuelle een hele interessante rondleiding gehad op de Armerican Cemetery; later in de week hebben we zelf nog de (soberdere maar niet minder indrukwekkende) Duitse begraafplaats bezocht. Andere geslaagde uitstapjes waren naar het maritieme museum La Cité de La Mer in Cherbourg en naar de stad Bayeux, waar onder meer het beroemde Tapijt van Bayeux te bewonderen is. Wandelen kan ook prima in de omgeving; in het vakantiehuis liggen verschillende wandelroutes en Samuelle kan je ook op weg helpen. Kortom: een aanrader!

Un lieu magique, chargé d'histoire. Propriété magnifique, des gîtes aux jardins. Samuelle sait accueillir avec une gentillesse infinie et est très à l'écoute de ses hôtes. Elle n'a eu de cesse de nous conseiller pour nous faire passer le meilleur séjour possible.Notre gîte était décoré avec beaucoup de raffinement, et très bien équipé.. Ce lieu est assez rare pour le noter !

I have been staying in French vacation homes for 25 years and Le Clos de Blisse is easily among the top 3 I have found. The owners, Samuelle and Mathias, are to be congratulated on several dimensions. First, they have renovated the property to an amazingly high standard. The "fit and finish" of the place leaves nothing to be desired. We noted, for example, the selective use of double glazed windows immediately. It is a delight, in this era of dreary sameness in mass produced vacation properties, to find a restoration that is historically faithful, artistically creative, and simultaneously functional. But it is not just the buildings. The grounds and landscaping of Le Clos de Blisse are simply beautiful with mature trees, well manicured lawns, and a duck pond stocked with rare species. It is hard to say whether the inside or the outside of the 3 houses is more relaxing. Second, Mathias and Samuelle are just a delight to work with. Genuinely friendly and hospitable, well informed about the area, and super efficient in attending to any problems, they are simply the best proprietors we have met in France. Third, I should mention the quality of the appointments in the houses. Everything, from crockery and cutlery, to linens and bedding, and bathroom fixtures is top drawer. This is one of those rare experiences where we actually felt honored to be able to here as guests. Bayeux, the Normandie beaches and the superb hiking and swimming of the Cotentin Peninsula are all a short drive away. If you are traveling with children there are even swing sets and jungle gyms available to entertain them while you tuck into your bateaux of seafood. One cautionary point. These are not necessarily the best houses for elderly folks who have problems with stairs. Be sure you contact Samuelle and Mathias in advance to ask about this issue if you have concerns. We look forward to returning here regularly and recommend Le Clos de Blisse enthusiastically to all comers.

Nous sommes enchantés de ce séjour, Samuelle est accueillante charmante et mérite tout notre respect ! Elle a fait de cet endroit une vraie parenthèse ! C’est si précieux de savoir qu’un tel havre de paix existe. Nous y reviendrons avec notre famille au complet, la région est magnifique. Et juste en enfilant les chaussures nous avons fait de belles balades. Merci tout y est, et la deco !!! Je laisse à chacun de vos invités s’émerveiller. Prenez soin de vous.

Our stay at Le Clos de Blisse was perfect! Samuelle is a perfect host and knows exactly how to welcome visitors. We stayed in the Utah house and it was exactly as expected...and maybe even better. There is nothing more to say: come and discover by yourself.

We are just back from having spent a week at Utah house visiting the D-Day sites. The location of the house very convenient to visit all the major sites and beaches, as well as other activities and is in a small peaceful village. The house itself had a lovely spacious garden overlooking a very large pond (fenced off so fine for little ones) and we spent much time watching the wildlife (including a moorhen nest with babies and spotting an otter). Inside the house is exceptionally clean and tidy, with an Apple TV to access English programmes on Netflix or Apple. The only slight negative is that the lounge is on the first floor - not a problem for us but be aware if you are taking and elderly relative as they will need to be confident with stairs! Samuelle the host was lovely, very friendly and helpful especially for the daily fresh bread delivery ! Would happily visit again as still plenty of things left to see 😊

Maison parfaite, environnement enchanteur, les enfants nous parlent encore de vous ! tout est parfaitement équipé et décoré.... On dort merveilleusement bien. Merci Samuelle !!!!

Wat een vakantiehuis! Niet alleen het domein - met een huis dat geschiedenis ademt- is prachtig, ook de omgeving en het uitzicht zijn schitterend. Van het boottochtje op de vijver, over de huppelende geitjes, tot Marguerite het konijn: elke dag ontdekten we iets nieuws. Maar het meest onverwacht kwam de gastvrouw uit de hoek. Een culturele duizendpoot die niet alleen het domein beheert, maar ook nog gidst en met natte plaatfotografie ons elke dag verraste.

Absolutely loved our stay at Le Clos de Blisse. After spending hours online searching for properties in Normandy, this one really stood out. It was perfectly located in relation to the historic sites, was close to Bayeux and the place looked lovely. The host was very responsive and attentive. When we got there, our expectations were exceeded: the grounds are beautiful, with tall willows and lakes, the house has a large private garden, the house itself is lovely and clean and super tastefully decorated. We were greeted by the most wonderful host, who, on top of being so gracious, was very knowledgeable about the area and its history. She even brought a fishing rod so that our son could fish in the pond on the property. Every morning we got delivered delicious fresh bread and pastries. It was very cute to find them outside the window. There are so many places to visit around but some days we just wanted to stay in and enjoy the tranquility of Le Clos de Blisse. We still miss it. Next time we decide to go to Normandy, we will look no further. Thank you, Sam.

Our third visit here to this amazing venue. The host Samuelle is brilliant and makes you feel so welcome and nothing is too much trouble for her. Ideally situated for all D-Day museums and beaches along with various towns such as Bayeux. We stayed over the 75th D-Day anniversary period and Samuelle advised us before and during our visit on the various events associated with the anniversary. On the anniversary day itself we and the other guests had a photo call early morning as we had all brought WWII vehicles with us and dressed up for the period, followed by our own memorial ceremony for those who had made the ultimate sacrifice - very moving and poignant, and will never be forgotten by ourselves. Our property and the other two on site are immaculately presented and tastefully decorated - our friends stayed in the one bedroom property. It is set in a beautiful surroundings - so peaceful and tranquil, and you feel so rested there. I miss the dove on my windowsill in the morning tapping on the window to see if I was awake! We will be back!
