Wow! What a location. Munroe Nest is tucked beautifully into the tranquility of Munroe Island. The accommodation is clean and spacious and the hosts are warm and friendly from the moment you arrive. If you are looking for somewhere quiet with a chance to see rural life at its best, I would highly recommend staying here. The food choices on the island are incredibly limited but the host provides the most delicious home made food if requested. (You can also get a backwaters canoe ride from the waters edge just by the property. Very reasonable price and great company from Vishnu)

Beautiful and peaceful place, if you are looking for a local experience, relax days.... this is the place to go. Vishnu and her wife were very kind and helpful. Place to come back!

We stayed at Munroe Nest for 2 nights. The host made our stay, Vishnu is really lovely and super helpful. We really enjoyed chatting with him and finding out about his home, Munroe Island. He took us on a sunrise backwater canoe tour and we borrowed his bikes to cycle around the island. Both experiences were stunning, and the people are so friendly. The room itself was clean and has a lovely verandah where you can sit and watch kingfishers! Would highly recommend a visit to this island and Vishnu’s homestay! From Katy and Sam :)

Wonderful place in the middle of the greenish Munroe Island. Plenty of activities possible, like canoing, bicycling, walking or cruising in the lagoons. The landlord, Vishnu, is simply perfect and always full of attention for his guests.

A simple but clean homestay. Vishnu is a quiet spoken man who will provide you with everything you need - great punted canoe trips and interesting village walks. His mother will cook you delicious Keralan meals. The whole family will entertain you, especially his young nieces who are a delight. Would love to return to this quiet and peaceful area.

Although I would prefer to keep this gem to myself, I am more than happy to write a review for Munroe Nest Homestay and it's wonderful host Vishnu. Arriving on Munroe Island is a delight in itself, the calm scenic environment is quite breathtaking and then you arrive at Munroe Nest Homestay, Vishnu's mother was waiting to greet me and guide me along a path leading to the Homestay. ( I should say here that Vishnu had travelled to Alleppey - 2 hours by train- to return the previous guest's sunglasses and wasn't back yet). There are just 2 cottages facing the water's edge where Vishnu's canoe is moored ready for a fantastic sunrise or sunset tour along the small canals leading to one of the feeder rivers and then the lake. Well worth it . In the early evening myself and two other guests were shown around the local area and then treated to a very local festival. The following evening Vishnu and his friend went out of their way to find another festival as I was not staying long enough to see the elephant festival on the 29th. The meals prepared by Vishnu's mother were very tasty and plentiful and it was a pleasure to be invited into their home to eat our meals. We were often accompanied by his very playful 3 year old niece and her older sister who was very helpful. My room was beautifully clean and a very good fan and mosquito net were provided. I was genuinely upset to leave this idyllic spot and recommend a stay here without reservation (but keep it to yourself!) Warm thanks to Vishnu, his family and friends.

Munroe Nest is a little hidden gem. It offers a quiet and relaxing atmosphere, 2 newly built and spotless bungalows surrounded by nature by a small canal on pretty Munroe Island. Vishnu and his family were very welcoming and made us feel at home. His 2 young nieces kept us company during breakfast and it was fun to chat with the older girl who spoke very good English! Do yourself a favour and book also a canoe tour with Vishnu ... he will be your boatman!

We had 2 wonderful days staying with Vishnu and his family at Munroe Nest. The home stay is a peaceful area of Munroe Island next to a small canal. Quiet, relaxing and with lots of wild birds flying around. Vishnu is a fantastic host, kind, mild mannered and speaks excellent English. He offers great canal tours at sunrise and sunset where he punts you around the beautiful backwaters and tells you about th Island. He also has bikes you can use to explore the island. His mothers cooking is fantastic and the rooms are very nice too. I would highly recommend a stay here to slow the pace down and relax in a beautiful setting.

The Munroe Island nest is a clean and very beautiful placed house with e very friendly owner that also is a good boat captain on his local backwater boat. He also is a guide with lots of good information. The house is very clean and the family makes delicious vegetarian meals. No traffic and peaceful atmosphere and clean air, and no musquitos, make it a teriffic place to stay. We would have liked to stay longer. Thank you Vishnu!

Firstly, I need to say I'm not sure if this is the place we stayed at. The lovely lady there told us to leave a review at Munroe Nest, but the photos look like the place next door, yet I'm not sure whether the two are connected somehow. At any rate, we very much enjoyed our stay and the owner's wife was there to provide great customer service and prepare nutritious and delicious vegetarian meals.
