The Joubarbe Residence is a little pearl in the Mauritian oyster Shell. The hospitality is authentic, the room extremely clean and cozy. The photos does not do justice to the setting. It is definitely a place I would go back to with my family. Nicole you have without changed my perception of Mauritian hospitality.

Situé à qq minute du centre commercial Bagatelle au vous trouverez ce dont vous auriez besoin; c'était l'endroit idéal pour nous d'avoir passer qq jours, au centre de l'île et proche de tout ! Très facile d'accès ! On a pu avoir un contact par Skype avec la propriétaire, ce qui nous a permis d'être plus optimisme au niveau de la réservation qui s'est bien passé d'ailleurs, nous remercions Nicole la propriétaire pour tous ces conseils. We stayed at Joubarbe residence during our two week trip to Mauritius. We arranged the booking by contacting Nicole, the manager / owner of the residence. She was very helpful in the pre arrival stage. She arranged the airport transfer for us. Her son, Carel came and greeted us at the airport and even though our plane was delayed by a day, he was there on time. We travelled as a family with our two daughters aged 10 and 13. It was our first trip to Mauritius. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Nicole and her younger son, Gale, with coconut water and passion juice! She remembered that coconut water is one of our favourite drinks! Nicole also helped us by arranging car hire. The car was in excellent condition and very useful. Driving in Mauritius is quite easy with the local people extremely helpful. It's a great way to see more of the island. The accomodation was perfect for us. The kitchen has all necessary equipment if you feel like making a small meal or even a banquet. We used it for breakfast only as there are many good places to eat nearby. The TV has a wide selection of channels although we were out most of the time and didn't use it much.The wifi is very useful for catching up with email and clash of clans. There is a master bedroom with an ensuite with a powerful shower and plenty of hot water. The girls had their own room with two single beds and their own well specced ensuite. The accomodation is clean and well maintained and a cleaner comes once a week. It is spacious and well proportioned for a family of four. There is a washing machine available. It is ideally located to explore the majority of the island by car. A short drive takes you into Port Louis and twenty to thirty minutes to quite a few public beaches. It is worth visiting other local towns too. The Mauritian people are friendly and helpful. Shopping is easy with the Bagatelle mall a short drive away or the local market near Moka eye hospital a few minutes walk. The accomodation is located quite high in the mountain so it has a nice, refreshing breeze. We were there in the 'winter' season and in the night it gets a little cool but the blankets provided are enough. There is a good view of Le Pouce mountain to the rear and greenery to the front and the sea is also visible in the distance. We stayed at a five star beach resort for the last five days of our stay and although we enjoyed it, we found it was less rewarding than our experience near the centre of Mauritius living at Joubarbe residence. Overall, the Joubarbe apartments are a great place to stay to experience the real Mauritius. Nicole and her family are wonderful people and very warm hearted and helpful. You will enjoy the place and get to see the many wonderful places, activities and people that Mauritius has to offer.

Last year, our friend lived here for several days, she spoke highly of the residence. So we booked it for 5 nights. Proof of facts, it was great. We loved it at the first sight, the house looked like a villa, it was clean and beautiful. Most importantly, we love our landlady, dear Nicole, she is so kind and warm, she helps us a lot, we really appreciate it. Moka is a great place, it is convinient to travel around Mauritius in 2 hours for any directions. I strongly recommend you to live in Joubarbe Residence, Moka, Mauritius. YOU WILL LOVE IT!

Everything excellent, we stayed 3 weeks. Nicole is the most considerate host, always ready to help and advice. Cleaning is once a week, we found that quite appropriate. The kitchen well equipped with stoves, fridge/freezer, microwave, coffeemaker etc. Nice bathrooms and excellent beds. Covered terrace with view to the landscape and sea in the distance. We rented a groundfloor appartment where the trees in the garden took some of the view, from the upper rooms it must be fantastic! Located on a small road with almost no traffic, it's very quiet, you hear the birds, the nearby river and enjoy nature. Eureka is reachable on foot in 5 minutes, Bagatelle mall is 5 minutes by car, we preferred a more modest shopping center in nearby St. Pierre, 10 minutes by car. Set in the mountains, Moka has a nice climate and a convenient position to explore the rest of Mauritius.

If you are looking for a peaceful, comfortable, clean and beautiful place to stay, this is it! Situated in a convenient part of the island, 10 minutes to city and access to freeways to all parts of the island. The views of the distant mountains are spectacular. Proprietors very warm, friendly and helpful.
