The owner and manager of this property went above and beyond to ensure satisfaction
This review is about the owner and management staff of Properties with Personality. Lynn Carlton, Marieta, Ignacio and Azucela. The Dolores Del Rio was very lovely, but it was up a spiral staircase that I had difficulty navigating due to a slight mobility impairment. I called Lynn to inform her that I'd be cutting my visit short because I was nervous about injury. Lynn was sad for me to hear this, and quickly sprung into problem-solving action. She was determined that I enjoy my entire vacation without stress. Lynn came up with an idea. She had an available apartment downtown, with no stairs, and more of a flat terrain. Then, the whole staff sprang into action, getting me transferred over to the apartment and settled in nicely. The apartment was gorgeous, and way out of my budget, but Lynn allowed me to stay there at the same rate as the studio. I understood the financial loss this cost her, and I also understood that she valued a SATISFIED CLIENT over a temporary gain. These values really impressed me, as most property owners don't seem to get this concept. And, she was right. I'm writing a flattering review, and I will definitely refer others to Lynn's properties. I give 999 stars. One star demerit for the spiral staircase. :-) Charming, but awkward.

tired and dark
Great location but everything worn in room that felt like a cave. Room dark and lacking warmth except for fireplace which was a goodsend. Pillows bought at Mervyns which closed 20 yrs ago so it was like sleeping on wadded up cardboard although they were 20 years ago feathers. Bedspread looked like it had been washed a thousand times. Drapes cheap etc. To get up to rooftop in order to get some light it was an additional 2 flights of stairs getting incrementally narrower.
The information was lacking, guest book with copies that were partially black because no one took the time to see if it was readable. No one could give me the safe's numbers. When I asked about getting a cell phone that was listed as available, no one knew what I was talking about.
Many more spaces in town, most with a fireplace, that are larger and more quaint for just a bit more price wise.

I am so sorry this was such a dissatisfied guest but it comes as no surprise. She was a rather discontented person. We have never received these kinds of complaints about this studio and I will address them.
1. Homes in San Miguel do not have central heat. The fireplace works very well to warn up the space. She could have used it more to heat up the place if she was cold. A rather simple remedy.
2. It is not a dark place. There are windows on both sides of the studio that bring in light. In 7 years we have never had a complaint about this studio being dark….until now.
3.The drapes fabric was chosen to provide privacy but bring in some light.
4. I am sorry about the pillows. Based how she goes on and on in her description about Mervyns, 2o years old, etc. that this might have been a bit over stated. I have instructed my housekeeper to immediately replace them. I wish she had simply asked our housekeeper for new pillows.
5. We rarely get a request for the cell phone so unfortunately my manager did not know how to respond to this. I have talked to her about this.
6. It is not true that most rentals have fireplaces, and especially in the downtown area where they charge quite a bit more if they do. They might be cheaper if you go outside of downtown to one of the neighborhoods. We offer a tremendous value for the price. It is certainly our aim to keep everything in good condition.
7. I have instructed my housekeeper to replace the bedspread. As I understand, her only complaint was that it had been washed too much and not that it was dirty or in poor repair.
8. There's not much I can do to change the stairs access to the roof terrace.
9. I have never had the office unable to give the safe numbers in any of our rentals. For obvious reasons we do not publish them anywhere. We tell people to call the office. The office is used to this request.
It is very challenging to rent to unhappy people. It is impossible to please them. I feel it is unfair to post a review like this when several things could have been resolved by a simple phone call to the office. We repeatedly instruct the people to let the office know if they need something. The feedback I get from guests is how impressed they are with how responsive the office is. However, I do feel that some of her complaints were justified and I have taken action to correct them. I appreciate the notification.

Nice location ,nice and quiet, would stay here again. Very clean and close to El Centro. Everything was as described.

Nice little apartment with all conveniences
The apartment is quite near to the central square with a rooftop terrace. The market, drugstore, local cafe, and torteria are very close by.

Lovely studio close to everything!
I really enjoyed my six night stay in this lovely apartment. San Miguel de Allende is a truly magical historic city full of charming cafes, beautiful churches and kind smiling people. The artisan market is two blocks away and full of gorgeous and well made crafts. for more upscale art and designer products La Aurora Fabrica (also within walking distance is amazing. Azucena the housekeeper was very helpful and the place was spotless! The owner Lynn Carlton sent a huge bouquet of flowers because my reservation was lost by Trip Advisor and my trip was cut from nine nights to six ;she couldn't have been nicer. I highly recommend these apartments!
