Restful, relaxing and a great base for walking and/or exploring
Lovely surroundings with lots of land on the site including a small private lake for swimming. It has a rowing boat. Comfortable and well appointed, I had a great few days walking locally with little traffic and good views. Good base to explore further afield. I went by car; bike travel was popular. Great regional food.

Très belle location au calme accueillant les animaux dans un écrin de verdure
La maison mise à disposition et le jardin privatif sont absolument magnifiques. James et Roo sont des hôtes très accueillants, à l'écoute, disponibles et très discrets. La location est très bien équipée, la literie est d'une qualité exceptionnelle et la décoration est de bon goût avec des détails charmants comme de jolis bouquets de fleurs disposés un peu partout le jour de notre arrivée. Seul bémol pas de connexion wifi et télévision en anglais uniquement ce qui nous a permis une déconnexion complète :) Nous et nos chiens avons passé un séjour plus qu'agréable dans cette belle campagne bretonne où les promenades au fil de l'eau et les excursions sont nombreuses. Nous recommandons sans hésiter les Papillons et remercions encore Roo et James pour leur gentillesse et leur accueil. Etienne, Valérie et Lalie

Je vous remercie pour vos aimables paroles. Ce fut un plaisir de vous avoir ici et merci d'avoir laissé le gîte si propre et bien rangé lorsque vous êtes parti. Je suis désolé pour le problème avec Internet. Nous avons maintenant changé de fournisseur et sommes sur le point d'installer un nouveau système dans le gîte qui, nous l'espérons, améliorera les choses. Nous espérons aussi vous revoir tous ! Thank you for your kind words. It was a pleasure having you here and thank you for leaving the gite so clean and tidy when you left. I am sorry about the problem with the internet. We have now changed our provider and are about to install a new system in the gite which we hope will improve things. We hope too see you all again!

Les Papillons; easy to visit, hard to leave.
Looking for Halcyon Days in beautiful rural France? Look no further than Les Papillons. Named after the hundreds of butterflies floating around on an acre of wild flowers on your doorstep, this is truly the perfect break from everyday home & work life in the most idyllic location in Brittany. The walk through your own woodland and meadow to the private little tree-lined lake for a picnic (or a doze) with only the frogs basking on lily pads for company is relaxation personified. 40 minute drive from a selection of wonderful family beaches gives you the best of both rural and coastal holidays. Les Papillons is most definitely going to be our regular Summer break heretofore. The boulangerie in Priziac is superb for your morning fresh bread and croissants and is only 5 minute drive. Many thanks to our hosts, James, Roo & family for their kind hospitality and for the woozy wine induced hangover on our morning of departure!!!! We travelled from Dublin to Cherbourg and the drive to Priziac took approximately 4 hours.

Wonderful place, great host, and thoroughly recommended
We were at Les Papillons in July this year (the "we" being myself, my wife and daughter, and our two dogs). We had booked for a week, but wish we could have stayed longer. As it was, we managed an extra night! The cottage is very private (the road leading to it ends in a field and a wood!), so is ideal for kids. It's near the village of Priziac, where there's a boulangerie which also sells a few household items. For supermarket shopping there's an excellent Carrefour (complete with poissonnerie) at Le Faouët, just 15 minutes drive away. A great attraction for us was that the cottage is within the owners' 9 acre grounds, which include a lake (complete with rowing boat), woodland, and a great flower and vegetable garden. The lake was of huge interest to our daughter and dogs, and I was the nominated rower of the boat which we used to explore the lily beds and banks, wherein lurked hundreds of frogs! There is also a huge but friendly yellow carp which cruises the lake. It wasn't far to the sea, just to the south, but frankly with so much to explore chez nous, we only spent a day with the smell of salt water in our nostrils. I can't end this review without mentioning James, our host (sadly we didn't get to meet his wife Roo this time, as she was away visiting her mother in "Blighty"). James made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived, and was good enough to leave us boxes of freshly laid eggs and freshly picked vegetables from time to time. There's nothing like crunchy, freshly-cut courgettes, and sweet smelling tomatoes just picked from the vine, for making an excellent ratatouille! A bientôt Les Papillons!

Oase van rust
Gastvrij, vriedelijk behulpzame eigenaar, prachtig huis en tuin, veel wandelroutes direct vanaf het huis. Mooie omgeving nabij meer en bossen.

A Beautiful Place to Stay
As part of our year-long sabbatical and European road trip, my wife and I were fortunate enough to come across this place - Les Papillons! Seeking some rest and comfort as opposed to always staying in our van, our week here proved a fantastic experience providing us with some great scenic walks (lakes included!), hot baths/showers, a comfortable bed, great cooking facilities and nights by the log fire. Our hosts too were warm and welcoming and provided us with everything we needed as well as some great tips of places to visit throughout our French adventure. The place is fairly remote, meaning that we got to be amongst nature as opposed to always being in villages, towns and cities, however, La Faouet is a short car ride away where there are a number of pubs, restaurants and supermarkets. In addition, Chapelle Sainte Barbe, a beautiful, hidden church sits atop La Faouet's forest peak and is a must for those visiting the area. Overall, this was a fantastic stay and we couldn't recommend it enough. Thank You Les Papillons and we hope to see you again in the not-too-distant future!

Really enjoyed our stay
Our family stayed at Les Papillons for a week, our son, his wife, their 3 month old baby and my husband and myself. There was plenty of space, the kitchen was well equipped and a cot was provided for the baby. The owners, James and Roo were on site and very friendly and helpful. The location of the gîtes was very quiet and even had its own little pond if one wanted to swim, with a bigger lake nearby. And lovely hiking trails. There was also a wonderful meadow of wildflowers which unfortunately when we were there had nearly finished flowering but would have been amazing in full bloom. We visited lovely towns such as Vannes, Carnac (to visit the prehistoric megaliths and then lunch by the seaside, Quimper, and Pontivy. We would visit again.

Charmant
Accueil top, maison fraiche et bien aménagée, calme absolu. Quelques petits problèmes de connexion mais finalement c'est idéal pour débrancher un peu.

Beautiful Stone Cottage in Brittany
Hi Wow, what a find! A beautifully decorated stone cottage in the middle of the Brittany countryside, set in wild, lush gardens with an abundance of butterfly’s - true to it’s namesake. We arrived to find freshly cut wild flowers, fresh eggs and wine. James, Roo and their children were so welcoming and were ever so respectful to give us lots of privacy but we’re super helpful if we needed anything. The house is spacious and cool with beautiful little touches everywhere. The garden and grounds were great and our little boy loved exploring and visiting the lake. He also made a friend for life with Ebony the dog who would playfully bound over now and again. We had such a great stay, hosted by such lovely people and we can’t wait to return. Thank you James and Roo!

A wonderful place to stay
One of the nicest things about our stay was the welcome from our lovely hosts.James and Roo were delightful and nothing was too much trouble for them. They went to all sorts of trouble, even after we left! One of the more absent minded in our group, managed to leave his phone in the cottage. James went to a great deal of trouble to find it, source the most economical delivery method and then send it. It arrived safely. Thanks again James!!! The cottage itself is peaceful and situated in beautiful and expansive grounds. You have all you need for a fantastic stay and we BBQ'd in the french sun on a number of occasions. We cycled in the area for 6 days . The weather was kind to us, the traffic was light and the landscape was pretty flat: excellent for a mixed ability group. There were lots of villages to visit, beer to drink and good food to be eaten. The cottage itself has an authentic rustic charm which we loved. The beds were comfy and the living room had a log burner which was great for the one evening of wet weather. We were able to cosy up with a pizza from the local restaurant and enjoy a good film. All in all, a fantastic experience. Thanks again to James and Roo. Ian M
