Conveniently, there are 3 restaurants, a hairdressers and a pharmacy all within easy walking distance. In the village predominantly stands a 16th century Chateau, which overlooks this house and the picturesque Lac d' Apremont, both 5 minutes walk away. The Lac is very popular in summer with a sandy beach, hosting a variety of water sports with boats for hire and entertainment for all ages. The nearest beaches of the Vendée are 19 kilometres away, offering water sports such as sailing, surfing, sail boarding, jet skiing etc. Other great places for a day out are Noirmoutier, Nantes, Les Sable d'Olonne and St Jean de Monts and the Puy de Fou. There are plenty of water parks and adventure parks for the young at heart . Other popular local activities are walking, fishing, cycling, visiting historic sites and gardens and horse riding. Our house was lovingly renovated in 2008 with some parts date back to 16th century and up until the 1960's was an épicerie. It has continued to be updated across the years to a very comfortable standard. There is a 160ft upper enclosed garden, a place to enjoy good views of the Chateau and village life going about its day, whilst sipping wine on the decking. Alternatively you can relax in the courtyard on ground level, where there is a planted al fresco dining area. The house comprises of: Kitchen The kitchen is equipped with a microwave, electric hob, fan assisted oven, dishwasher, kettle, toaster and Bosch Tassimo coffeemaker. Plates, bowls, cups, glasses, sauce pans and cutlery. There is a breakfast table that seats four. The kitchen has two entry doors, one that leads into the courtyard and another that leads up a stone stairway to the rear garden. From the kitchen, down one step, leads you towards the lounge/diner at the front of the house. Passing through the laundry room, where there is a fridge-freezer and washing machine. Lounge/Diner This room is comfortably fitted with a 4 seater settee, armchair and 2 further carver chairs, with the feature of the room being a woodburner style gas fire. A 32 inch television screen is installed (with Freesat), plus a dvd/video player. Board games are provided, along with playing cards and puzzles. Internet is available with speeds up to 24 mbps The dining table comfortably seats 6. Halfway up the staircase, leading to the first floor is a large arched window which is set in the middle bedroom. Bedrooms The middle bedroom is of a good size and may be used as a further lounge. Its double aspect windows fill the room with sunlight and there is a lovely view of the Château from the window overlooking the courtyard. An external door leads out onto a small pebbled side garden. There is a single day bed, bedside cabinet and a fitted wardrobe, a second single bed can be made-up on request. The front double bedroom has 2 single beds, a chest of drawers, wardrobe, bedside table with lamp and large window overlooking the road. The third main bedroom is wonderfully light given the 2 miniature windows, a comfy new king size bed. A particular feature from this bedroom is being able to access the rear garden and make your way down little stone stairs to the kitchen. Even bring breakfast up stairs to the decking. Bathroom The bathroom is a 'Jack and Jill' style, located between the middle and rear bedrooms. It has a separate shower cubicle, plus a bath with a second shower unit, toilet and sink. Garden & Outside Space The courtyard is entered through double gates from the road and ere is room to park a couple of cars. The upper rear garden is 160 feet long, fitted with decking installed in 2017, which provides a lovely area to dine, relax or sunbathe. Sample Summer 2019 review Highly recommended! Set in a beautiful quiet village, overlooking a castle with a small shop, boulangerie and a few restaurants all in walking distance, not to mention the lake beach, this property is a perfect setting for a family who want to avoid the crowded tourist areas but still want to enjoy what the Vendee has to offer. The listing on the website is accurate and it was even better than it looked in the photographs. As a self catering let the kitchen had more than enough equipment and there was always a choice of outside places to dine when eating at the property. Our young children loved the accommodation as we did, and we felt this was a safe environment for children. Our hosts met us at the property to show us round, returned to wave us off, and were easily contactable and informative if required. Mr BorrillPlus
