Barbers Cottage is a listed, boutique-style holiday home located in the heart of the beautiful old Saxon town of Shaftesbury, Dorset bordering Wiltshire.
Our popular cottage provides a comfortable base to explore the local area. Shaftesbury is renowned for its stunning location and Barbers Cottage provides a central location to stay at with all the lovely cafes and boutique shops within a couple of minutes walk. Internal exposed stonework and beams couple with a house which is designed to be a home from home. (and we have Superfast broadband!)

Fab weekend escape with the girls!
Beautiful, stylish cottage in perfect location. Great for walking to little shops and restaurants in the town - and only a short drive to stunning walks with amazing views of local countryside.
Cottage was immaculate - and ‘welcome tray’ with tea and cakes was lovely touch. Will definitely book again!

Fabulous!
We had a wonderful stay at the cottage - it is both comfortable and stylish. Kitchen is particularly well equipped for a holiday rental. We loved it - and will definitely be back next year!

We recently got a new range cooker - one guest commented she made cakes the week she stayed (and another apple pies using apples from the garden)

Beautiful, stylish, cosy cottage in a perfect location
Wonderful location in the heart of Shaftesbury, a short walk from historic Gold Hill with its stunning views over the Dorset countryside. Barbers Cottage is absolutely gorgeous. Beautifully restored and so cosy with all your comforts catered for. We had an amazing weekend here, walking in the surrounding hills and exploring the many sites of special historic interest, after which we came back to relax in front of a roaring fire and had a lovely meal out at the restaurant a few doors away. This is a really magical escape. We'd like to visit again please!

Beautifully decorated cottage luxury in a superb location
A real gem - right in the heart of Shaftesbury, close to all the restaurants, pubs and shops, with lots of beautiful country walks on its doorstep. Liked it so much we've been there twice! Really spacious too - we are a family of 4 with 2 boys but there's plenty of room for us all to hang out. Decor is lovely, and the bath is a real treat...Will definitely be back again!

Relaxing week in Barbers Cottage
We have stayed here a number of times starting in 2012. The cottage is maintained to a high standard and Sally is very responsive to e-mails. The addition of a parking spot behind the house makes life a lot easier. in prior visits, we sometimes had to park 1/4 mile away down one of the side roads.
We brought our walking shoes with us this time and there are many walks that can be taken around the town and surrounding area. Be warned! Shaftesbury is on a hill and what goes down must come back up. We actually walked 5 miles one day, although there is a shorter 2 mile walk through St James and then under Castle Hill. We were lucky that we had great weather for the whole of our visit.
As far as food is concerned, we can recommend the following:
Mitre - Had a great Toad in the Hole.
Royal Chase Hotel - Very good Sunday Carvery
Aroma - Good Indian Restaurant
Salt Cellar - Highly recommended. At the top of Gold Hill with a great view. We always come here for lunch at least once during our trip. I recommend making a reservation, especially in summer.
Ye Olde Two Brewers - A new landlord just started so the kitchen is being refurbished. We did not get a chance to try it this time but normally good food, It is at the bottom of Gold Hill and what goes down, etc. etc...
Looking forward to our next visit to Shaftesbury and Barbers Cottage
