Greenbank Country House is a lovely 10 bedroom Victorian house and in the same grounds From the elevated site there are magnificent views of the valley and Derwentwater. Single en-suite bedroom Outside Gardens with sitting out area and ample parking in front of house for several cars General Description Greenbank House is accessed through the main doorway at the front into the large hallway with grand staircase. The two lounges, both with feature fireplaces with open fires, comfortable seating, TV's and DVD players are to the front of the house and both have lovely large windows looking out over the garden to the valley and fells. The large well equipped kitchen has triple oven Aga, separate gas hob and oven, dishwasher, large toaster and microwave. Off the kitchen is the area housing two large fridges and a chest freezer. The utility area leading off this has two washers. The large airy dining room with ample seating for 19 and large windows looking onto the side garden is situated adjacent to the kitchen. There are two downstairs double bedrooms, both with TV and en-suites and windows with views to the garden. One of these can be made up as a twin. The stairway leads up from the hallway to the first floor where there are 6 double bedrooms, further double zip and link bedroom which can be made up as twin and a single bedroom, some with TV and all having ensuite bathrooms. Please note all of the en-suite bathrooms comprise of WC, washbasin, bath and a handheld shower from a mixer tap on the bath. Outside is a large hard surfaced parking and turning area. The large garden to the side has sitting out area with table and chairs, lovely trees and shrubs and fantastic views to the Borrowdale Valley and to the fells. The house is accessed via the driveway leading from the Borrowdale Road and is situated in a lovely elevated position. Superb accommodation and location
A group of us stayed here for a cycling holiday. Each room having its own en-suite was brilliant, as were the two lounges and huge kitchen. Everything we needed was in place and the warmth and comfort were excellent. Janet was extremely accommodating and helpful if we needed anything. The location was also excellent, being on the main road to Keswick and being able to turn left and head south to Barrowdale and Honister Pass. All of our party raved about the accommodation and thoroughly enjoyed their stay. Several of us are looking to come back with different groups of friends or cyclists - no higher recommendation!

Lovely place, plenty of room for everyone but there was a problem with wasps nest and large numbers of them getting into one of the lounges. The problem should have been sorted out before our arrival. No one got stung but it was a bit of a hazard for the children

Hi David Thankyou for your review sorry about the wasps but they just started coming in the day you where arriving which we sprayed but unfortunately it takes time to locate the nest which we have now so apologise again regards Janet

Amazing place and enjoyable
An amazing place. Went with a group of families and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. All the amenities are more than ample for the size of group/place and is quite spacious. There are few less famous but must visit places around not too far.

Lovely place for a family get together
Wonderful location , surrounded by hills farms and a 10 min walk to Derwentwater which is great for water sports . There are many walks we went up the cat bell hill only around 1500 feet lovely views from the top with a route to Keswick which can be a challenge . Keswick is a very interesting town ,full of history with plenty of interesting shops pubs and some great ice cream also a great street market.well worth a visit . The house itself was perfect for our family group of 17 plenty of room for parking and was as described ,plenty of rooms to get lost in brilliant. It has been a hotel in the past with a lovey dining room with tables and chairs to arrange whatever way you wish . The kitchen was brilliant with plenty of cooking facilities a boiler which gave you instant hot water for tea , perfect again . The gardens were lovely and extensive and great fun to roam around . Janet , the owner was so helpful and cheerful and must have worked so hard to have made the house so clean and tidy . Janet has other cottages on site for smaller groups . We wil go back again to such a lovely house and owner. Thank you Janet .
