Lovely family break.
Lovely cosy cottage with scenic views but not too fair from amenities. Stayed for three nights and found plenty of family friendly things to do close by. The cottage was well presented and the beds were so comfortable! Will definitely be back in the future!

Relaxing Week
Another fantastic week at Four Mile,the weather wasn't kind but the cottage was nice and cosy as always,absolutely love the area and looking forward to getting back soon!

Fab clean warm well equipped cottage.
Great location for driving around the area. Lots of good walks for dog close and the cycling in nearby forest is great. We will definitely be visiting the area again.
Thank you very much for leaving us milk etc (I haven't had a caramel wafer in years yum)

A central well equipped cottage....l
Location was great we visited some fantastic places.
The cottage was well equipped with everything you could need.
The owners thought of everything
The cottage was clean and tidy, and was what a cottage of this location should look like,
We have a fab time, and would visit this little gem again... without hesitation...
We would love this as our own home so cosy😃

Good place to stay
A friend and I stayed for 1 week in Four Mile cottage. It was perfect for the two of us. Bedrooms were spacious with plenty of storage. The kitchen is very well equipped and the little garden was great for sitting out in the morning. It was all super clean and looked very welcoming on arrival.
I had my greyhound with me. The small fenced garden was good for her but a step up to the wall onto the grass would have been helpful. The bigger area where I could take her on a lead was a bonus.
The dining table is big enough for two and the seating area could accommodate four. There is a TV but the sound quality is very poor, my friend is only very slightly hard of hearing and couldn't understand it at all.
We had fun exploring the local area which is very pretty. We recommend Loch Arthur farm shop, especially the restaurant.
On booking I was concerned about the obvious proximity of the A73 and it is audible from the garden but we couldn't hear it in the house and it really wasn't a problem. It also makes the cottage very easy to find.
Overall a super, well equipped and cared for cottage that was a pleasure to stay in.

Christmas Break
The cottage is very warm and clean,the kitchen well equipped with everything you need for self catering - and more. Tea, coffee and milk had been left so we could make a drink on our arrival. Outside is a "dog proof" garden but a large dog might just be tempted to jump the low fence.
We decided to take our two dogs (on leads) for a walk up the lane towards to Nunland holiday homes. The lane appears to be a public road with NO SIGNS saying otherwise. We had a very nasty encounter with the owner of Nunland who told us in no uncertain terms with were not aloud to walk our dogs on "her" road.
Now there appears to be a feud between the two holiday homes something we did not want to get involved with especially having been here for only 2 hours! We met the owner of Four Mile Cottage on the way back and she said she had seen us walking up the road and was waiting for the encounter. The first thing we should had been told was just where we could or could not walk the dogs. This is no reflection on the people of Scotland as we have found them to be very friendly and welcoming.
The cottage is fine except for the bed which was very uncomfortable with rock hard foam pillows. The last night of my stay was spent on the settee and one of the reasons we came home early. The other being the very low seats in the lounge, very comfortable but too low for my husband who has a bad back (he had to sit on the dinning room chair). It may be an idea to have just one high easy chair.
All in all this a very nice cottage and ideal for the many attraction to been seen during the summer months.
Also there was no hot water in either the kitchen or wash basin in the bath room. We did report this and no doubt the problem has been fixed.

Cosy little cottage, perfect for a relaxing long weekend
Well equipped cottage with beautiful surroundings. Stayed with my hubby and 2 year old twin girls who loved visiting local farm parks, soft play and the garden centre. Plenty of options nearby to eat out. All in all, a well need and much enjoyed break. Hope to return soon!

Brilliant, cosy cottage for exploring the area
Really clean, cosy cottage. Good sized bedrooms. Great location for exploring the local area. Just off A75, but can barely hear it. We hope to return!

Absolutely loved our stay!
The cottage was ideal,with everything you need and the owners were really nice and always available.
The surrounding area is stunning and very quiet and only a quick journey to Dumfries.
Can't wait to visit again.

Very relaxing stay.
4 Mile Cottage was well equipped, cosy and was ideally situated for visiting the Solway coast and beyond. We visited Threave Gardens, Robert Burns Cottage and The Museum of Lead Mining at Wanlockhead. There are plenty of restaurants and coffee shops in the area. Anna the owner was very friendly and left tea, coffee, milk and biscuits for our arrival. The flowers were a very nice touch. We shall definitely stay again when in the area.
