We had a fantastic time staying in Vivienne's charming little townhouse in Beaune, which is perfectly located in the old town. The house is full of character and has been cleverly renovated to provide top-notch facilities whilst still feeling like an authentic Beaunoise residence! There are two spacious and tastefully decorated double rooms, each with comfy beds and their own bathrooms, which is a real bonus when sharing the house as two couples (as we did).
The kitchen is well-equipped, although in our case it didn't get much use as there are simply too many amazing places in Beaune to eat and drink. Vivienne was really helpful in terms of recommending places to visit and the best bars and restaurants, and helping us with reservations (she speaks fluent French and English). We had two very memorable meals at 'La Lune' and 'Bistrot Bourguignon', both on her recommendation (make sure you book in advance!). Also don't miss the beautiful food market on Saturday mornings.
One of the highlights of our trip was a wine-tasting with Vivienne's husband Charly who owns the family domaine 'Maison Fatien': we enjoyed tasting a range of his delicious local wines, without any of the pretentiousness you sometimes get from wine-tastings!! Charly was really down to earth and we had great fun.
Thank you Vivienne and Charly!
