This vacation exceeded our expectations! Two Anglo-American families rented this lovely home together (4 adults, 3 kids). The house was more than large enough for our needs. Unlike many rentals, there were no "bad bedrooms" - each room was lovely, spacious, and beautifully decorated, with an ensuite bathroom. The large open plan kitchen/dining/living area was a great place to congregate, and we spent time enjoying the pool and (electric) BBQ in the backyard, and the expanse of lawn in the front yard.
The kitchen is well equipped for cooking, with sharp knives and good cookware and serving dishes. There are two bakeries, a small market, and a butcher within steps of the front door. The house is in the middle of a good sized village, but feels very private and tucked away behind the grand front gates.
We visited the interesting and quirky chateau in town (the 9 year olds loved the car and plane collection!) and a few local wineries. We took evening walks up on the bike path in the vineyards in the hills behind the cuverie. We did a day trip to the Resistance Museum in the forest of Morvan, rented bicycles for a ride to Meursault, and had a wonderful tasting at Chateau de Pommard. For serious cyclists, there are lots of great rides in the area, and Bourgogne Randonne rents good carbon road bikes.
Beaune was a short drive away and we visited many times- parking on the ring road was easy and mostly free. I highly recommend the Fallot mustard factory tour as well as the cooking lesson at Cook's Atelier in Beaune (the latter just for English speakers). Finally, don't miss booking a private chef for dinner in the caves in the cuverie one night (Marie-Anne and Jean-Pierre provided very helpful recommendations here!)
We all agreed that this home has set the standard for future vacation rentals - it is an exceptional property, and we hope to return.
