The gite is a very short walk from the castle and the picturesque medieval city, with a selection of restaurants, bars, shops, post office etc nearby. The chateau of Valencay is about a 20-minute drive, Chenonceau is about 35 minutes and Chambord is about 90 minutes away.
The gite has been recently and tastefully renovated, with modern amenities. There is a large double bedroom upstairs with ensuite shower room, and a sofabed in the downstairs living room. At the rear is a secure, private courtyard. It is pet-friendly, but dogs will need to be walked frequently, as the courtyard is clean and tidy.
There is no air-conditioning, and as it was 30+ degrees, we were glad that we took an electric fan with us, which was adequate, as the solid stone construction kept some of the heat out.
There is no private parking space, but some street parking (we were able to park there for loading/unloading on arrival and departure, and for much of the week) and a large, free car park about 50 metres away.
The owner is very friendly and helpful, english-speaking, and knowledgable about the area.
