We have recently returned home from a truly wonderful stay of 1 month (covering Christmas and New Year) at this really beautiful apartment. If we could give it more than 5 stars, we would. The owners, Simona & Rubén are exceptional hosts. They are genuinely lovely people and really do take the best care of their guests.
Prior to our arrival they emailed maps and recommendations to us which was a good start.
The apartment is on a nice, quiet pedestrianised street. Our taxi dropped us at the closest possible point, which was literally just a few yards away from the building, so no problem for us to wheel our luggage. Simona greeted us warmly on arrival (with a welcoming cake and some Christmas gifts - an assortment of special local Christmas biscuits, bottle of wine and a beautiful poinsettia plant!) and explained about all the available facilities. (Please see the owners' list of Amenities for the full description – it's 'spot on'). The following items had been thoughtfully provided so that we did not have to visit the supermarket immediately – milk, water, soft drinks and beer, tea, coffee, olive oil and seasonings, paper napkins, shower gel and shampoo. Also, a good supply of housekeeping and cleaning materials.
The apartment is smart and tastefully decorated, comfortable and very fresh and clean. (The owners' photographs really are an accurate reflection of the property, so there was no need for us to take any photos for this review). There was a plentiful supply of bath and hand towels and even beach towels and umbrellas were provided.
Cross the road, and Calle Larios the main shopping street (and spectacular Christmas lights) were a very easy few minutes walk away. There are many wonderful bars, restaurants, cafes and shops in Málaga. There really is something for every taste and budget. Although not essential, we had taken a few 'Beginners Spanish' lessons before our trip. Using a few simple Spanish words and phrases really added an extra dimension to our trip and was well received.
Simona & Rubén sent us lovely, friendly messages during our stay, genuinely interested in how we were enjoying ourselves.
There was plenty for us to see and do in Málaga and we explored the city mainly on foot. There is an easy walk down towards the harbour, past the lighthouse and along to the beach – palm trees, parakeets and orange trees along the way. Such a delight in December!
We found plenty to see and do in Malaga. The Malagueños are very welcoming and friendly, the local dishes and wines are truly delicious, and this apartment is a real gem. Many thanks to Simona and Rubén for all their kindness and consideration.
As soon as we got home we booked flights to return in a few weeks time. Although this apartment was booked for the weeks we wanted, Simona & Rubén were able to suggest similar accommodation and we have every confidence in their advice.
We have no hesitation in recommending Malaga as a great city to visit, this apartment as the perfect place to stay and Simona and Rubén as the very best of hosts.
