Roberto, our host, and his wife were very friendly and helpful. He talked us through everything and gave us some free tickets for the tourist bus that goes from Vezio to Varenna. You can walk but it is quite steep. The apartment itself was lovely, the shaded outside living space made it seem much bigger and as it was so hot that this is where we spent most of our time. The gardens are large and again well furnished with amazing views of the lake, great for a lazy afternoon. There is a lot to do on the lake. Vezio has a castle and Varenna has a Villa, both are worth a visit. Varenna is very pretty and we had a couple of good meals (head up away from the front for some hidden gems) Villa Carlotta, Bellagio and Como are all worth visiting. We travelled by boat everywhere. We also used the train to Visit Lecco. I would definitely recommend the property and would stay again!

Roberto speaks very little English and my Italian is sparse. But don’t keep you from trying this wonderful gem in Vezio, a tiny hamlet above Varenna. The views are spectacular from the private garden that overlooks the Castle and Lake Como. There is a price for the views: you are a bit isolated and the walk back to the house is not for the faint hearted. No worries: Roberto picked us up from the train station and drove us back the morning we left. What a wonderful host! There is a market in Perledo to stock provisions but the walk is arduous. Roberto has contact information for local taxi service. After a day visiting Varenna and Bellagio by ferry, we called taxi service Marco Barili on a Sunday evening and our driver was there in 5 minutes. She whisked us from Varenna to our host’s driveway, 15 Euros for 3 of us. Do NOT miss eating at Ristorante Il Portichetto in Vezio. We discovered it by accident and it was amazing. Explore the castle; the grounds are immaculate and the views are unreal. There is a cafe as well as several falconry birds kept on the grounds. This location is worth getting to. With some logistical planning, you’ll have an unforgettable experience. Grazie mille, Roberto!

We were met at the airport by our welcoming host and driven up the beautiful hills to our place. When we arrived we found everything clean and tidy and so inviting. Our host drove us to a nearby restaurant so we could get something to eat and checked on us a couple of times during our stay to be sure we had everything we needed. We loved everything about our stay and will definitely be back!

No need to mention, Lake Como is one of the best touristic places in Europe. It offers great possibilities for nearly everyone who is looking for various vacation concepts. We had a nice short stay at Varenna Castel House. Roberto and Elisabetta were very friendly and helpful hosts. Once you get there, Roberto gives you all necessary information about surrounding and possibilities. Although reaching the apartment from Varenna is a bit stressful due to narrow roads, it is definitely worth it. The apartment is well equipped and comfortable with a great garden space. Everything on the location matches the description given. As shown on the pictures, the view over the lake is absolutely breathtaking. Because it is up at the hill, we'd recommend families with small kids to get there by a car. Otherwise reaching Varenna or other nearby locations around the lake might be difficult. We had a very good and relaxing time there in October. Those looking for an escape from busy/stressful working life and the chaos of cities, this is the place you are looking for.

Our host, Roberto, was very friendly and accommodating. Despite his limited English and my non-existent Italian, we communicated just fine. He picked us up at the train station, drove out of his way to take us to a grocery store, and two days later drove us back to the train station. The apartment is spacious and clean, with ample cooking utensils and a few essentials like tea, coffee, and olive oil. Great outdoor space with ample seating and of course the one-in-a-million, top-of-the-world view of Lake Como. We enjoyed the short hike up and down the hillside to Varenna, but I admit that 2/3 of North Americans would need to take a taxi (readily available). Overall? Highly recommended and I would return in a heartbeat!

Un appartement tout confort (2 pièces climatisées), un propriétaire très sympa, une grande et belle terrasse et une vue magnifique sur le lac de Côme (malgré le pylône électrique). Je recommande la descente de petit matin à pied sur Varenna pour un petit-déjeuner sur la petite place en bord de mer. La dolce vita !

We had a really enjoyable stay at Varenna Castel House. Reaching it was interesting, a drive up a very windy and at times narrow road from Varenna then meeting Rob in the car park a little below the property. But once we got there we found a very well equipped, comfortable apartment with a lovely outside space and wonderful views across to the castle and up and down the lake. As may be noticed there is an electric pylon and wires just below the property but it really is not a problem. The small, pretty village of Vezio is just below the apartment and has a good restaurant/bar as well as the castle (a must visit, also has a cafe). It take s a couple of minutes to walk there. Rob was a great, friendly and helpful host, just don't expect fluent English! But we communicated OK. The only caveat, and the reason the property gets 4 rather than 5 stars is that it's location means that "interesting" drive in and out or a steep (but worthwhile) walk down to the lake. The sign in Vezio says 15 mins to walk down to Varenna harbour, which is just about what it took us. Coming back up was a good 20 minutes for us, a couple used to hill walking. But, of course, if it wasn't up the hill it wouldn't have the views. We had a lovely relaxing time, wished we could have stayed longer and would happily return.

From the time we arrived until we left, Roberto was an amazingly gracious host. He picked us up from station, took us to house, had all the instructions and directions to make our stay as wonderful as possible. The house and the views from the house were simply incredible. The proximity to the Fuzio castle was a major bonus - we would highly recommend walking to it. We would also highly recommend walking down the steps to Varenna and taking the ferry that goes to several small towns around the lake. Very friendly town and an extremely friendly host!

We stayed in this house for three nights. The setting is beautiful with extensive views over Lake Como. It is in the hills up above Varenna and there is a walking track down to the water (it took us about 20 minutes each way but I'm sure it would take younger and fitter folk less). Roberto met us at the parking lot down from his house and we followed him up the tricky driveway in our car. I'm sure the driveway would be easier for those who are used to driving on the right side of the road. Coming from Australia, everything was on the wrong side for us. The house itself is spacious and comfortable with a fully equipped kitchen, a good sized bathroom and a comfortable bed. There is a barbecue and outdoor dining area where we had breakfast, lovely gardens and fantastic views. It is very good value and I would recommend this house.
