Great base for exploring Florence and Tuscany, plus relaxing at the pool
We stayed in the Arance apartment for two weeks in June, using it as a base to explore the city of Florence and some of the other great attractions in Tuscany. For most of our stay the weather was quite hot (mid-90s F, mid-30s C), so we were very glad to be able to cool off in the pool after a day of sightseeing. Occasionally we even took a whole day off from touring around and simply relaxed by the pool. The apartment is large and comfortable, with lots of windows to let in the cooler evening air. We never used the air conditioning (which costs extra). Our host Simone (this is a man's name in Italy) was extremely helpful and speaks good English and French.
Getting into the center of Florence is easy, with bus stops and a train station nearby. Because we had a car, we simply drove to the train station and parked there (plenty of spaces and no charge) and then walked the short distance to the bus stop. If you don't have a car, the bus stop is about a 20-25 minute walk. You must take a bus or train to get into town because private autos are not allowed there. There is a large grocery store nearby, with excellent fresh produce, and some nice and reasonably-priced restaurants as well.
The apartment also made a great base for trips into the countryside to places like Siena, and the medieval towns of Volterra and San Gimignano in the mountains (a nice getaway to escape the heat of Florence), and the Roman amphitheater at Fiesole is quite close to the apartment.
We would gladly stay here again.

Our holiday apartment was fair. I would recommend it better if we had not discovered that it was impossible to find and that there really is no WIFI. The apartment is nicely furnished, but there were no paper products. When we asked about the WIFI problems, we were given a story. These problems spoiled an otherwise nice place.

Convenient location
Beautiful grounds in a country setting with a swimming pool. Convenient access to bus route and walking distance to the best restaurant we experienced in three weeks of travel throughout Italy. Accommodations exactly as described and great assistance from owner Simone with area day trips. Be sure to avail of the bike and wine tour offered by his neighbour.

a great place to stay for many reasons
Firstly, the place itself. Spotless and just like the photos. Everything is as described with lots of little additional touches. Secondly the location. 10 minute walk to the bus that takes you into Florence. And if you have a car it is 10 minutes from the autostrada and not a lot longer to get up into the hills for great views of Florence. Thirdly, Simone the owner. He was here when we arrived and told us everything we needed to know, not just about the apartment and facilities, but also provided an excellent local map with bus stops, supermarkets, petrol stations etc, all you need to know. Then he disappears into the background but you always know he is around if needed. Finally, the policy of allowing check in and out on any suits the visitor here for a couple of days or like us staying just over a week. Great holiday, thanks.

A quiet location but close to the city
Simone was a fantastic host providing lots of information relevant to our stay in Florence particulary local bus and transport links as we had decided that we did'nt want to hire a car. The apartment and pool were beautiful and everything was pristine throughout. By the end of the week we'd made friends with all of the guests who were staying in the other apartments despite us being an international mix with no common language throughout. With hindsight we would have been better avoiding the August heat, but air conditioning was availble within the apartment at an additional cost. One tip which we would offer to those arriving by taxi, do not make the mistake of letting the taxi drop you off at the gate as the drive is long and the surface is not suited to wheelie suitcases.

Beautiful, convenient, Simone was great!
I would highly recommend this place. Simone had great communication prior to booking and was available for any assistance we needed once we were there. Simone has prepared a map of all the things you need to know i.e. grocery store, buses, trains, etc. He also asked what else we were interested in and gave us some tips and notes on a Florence map. He recommended some restaurants of which we tried 3 - all were hits! The location is convenient to Florence and the sites there and allowed us to do a lot of day trips around the region. The pool was lovely and right on the hill. It is what you would think of when you say "Tuscan Villa". Even being so close to the city, you feel like you are in the middle of the country. The pictures do not do it justice. I would definitely stay there again.

Quiet and convenient for Florence
The owner Simone Starnoti is on-site and very helpful. The location is very pleasant and quiet. The mill house and the garden / pool area provide plenty of restful places to sunbathe or just to sit and read. The walk to the local shop and bus stop is around 1km but if you wish to go further afield than Florence to larger shops and supermarkets a car is required. The bus service to and from Florence is very frequent, takes around 20mins and is only 1.20 euros each way. Even better is the ATAF 24 hour bus ticket at 5 euros which allows you to hop on and off as many bussini (small electric bus) in Florence city centre and saves walking from one attraction to another.

Great location, Charming
The villa is very accessible to Florence and other points of interest in Tuscany. Charming villa on an old olive plantation. Very spacious and comfortable. Will come back again!
