Lisbon was fantastic. It was hot week, but thankfully the apartment has AC. The location can’t be beat, you are only a short walk away from the train, metro, tram, ferry, grocery store, and, most importantly, Time Out Market where you get the best Pastel de Nata and Ginjinha. As others pointed out, you are in an area that has an active nightlife, so things get noisy at night, but the apartment has new windows that combined with the running AC and ear plugs made for restful sleep. Honestly, based on the reviews here I was prepared for much worse than what we experienced, and the noise was my primary concern when booking. The size of the apartment and architectural details were awesome. We were a party of four, and the three bedrooms and two full bathrooms were perfect for us.
The kitchen was a huge surprise. We stayed in plenty vacation rentals before, and usually you get two pots, one pan and six sets of cutlery, glasses, cups and plates (if you are lucky), and you are constantly doing dishes. This rental has enough of everything - there are cutting boards, pots and pans of different sizes, and the various kitchen tools that you have at home; so, fixing a meal is easy and does not require improvisation.
The host, Susana, was wonderful. She helped arrange a driver to pick us up from the airport with a car big enough to also fit our luggage. She met us at the apartment to hand over the key and explain everything. She also had some great recommendations on what to do, based on our interests.
This apartment was a superb find, and if we ever return to Lisbon, I hope Susana’s place is still up for grabs.
