The property Is pretty close to town (Rethymno), around a ten minute drive, you really do need a car to stay here if you wish to visit any of the many beaches, restaurants and towns nearby. The grounds are beautiful and very well kept while the pool is always kept clean and is a decent size for a medium sized family. This villa is very well catered for young families – there are lots of toys both inside and outside for kids to play with, trucks, spades, inflatables, pool noodles, books, crayons which is a godsend when taking toddlers away and saves having to take these things away with you. Also supplied is a toddler bath, highchairs and food for the first night or so if you wish. The TV comes in handy if you want a night in as well.. Marina is really helpful and on hand, we had an issue with the aircon which was fixed really quickly and she organises takeaways which is occasionally a great bonus. There is a choice of different seating area’s around the property although the BBQ area is especially nice and comfortable to eat at, absolutely perfect for families and there’s usually a pleasant breeze thanks to it’s elevated location indeed you can see the sea from the pool area. The friendly dog Ermis is an added bonus for the canine lovers as we are, we will surely return as it was a five star experience.

Nous venons de passer 1 semaine dans cette superbe villa. Idéalement située à quelques minutes de Rethymnon. La maison est parfaitement équipée...rien ne manque! Le studio a pu herberger notre fils de 17 ans qui était ravi de ce petit bout d'indépendance! A flanc de montagne et avec une vue superbe sur la mer, la villa est située au calme et le soir entre le bal des hirondelles venant s'abreuver à la piscine et le carillon des clochettes des chèvres de la montagne nous nous sommes sentis au coeur de la nature. Le jardin est un ecrin de verdure. Il y a une superbe piscine,très propre et idéalement chaude. Nous étions une famille de 5 personnes et nous n'avons manqué de rien. Marina la propriétaire a été très disponible, répondant très rapidement à chacune de nos interrogations. Sans parler d'Ermis, la star de la maison, pour les enfants. Adorable petit chien, attachant, qui nous faisait la fête dès nos retours à la Villa et le matin. Nous avons eu beaucoup de mal à quitter cette maison car nous nous y sommes sentis comme chez nous. Elle est encore mieux que sur les photos et très propre! C'est un merveilleux souvenir et nous espérons pouvoir y revenir!

La Villa Metochi a été pour nous idéale pour ces 12 jours en famille (2 adultes 4 enfants dont 2 ado dans la dépendance ) Placée sur les hauteurs mais proche de la ville, la maison est confortable, la piscine superbe, le chien adorable (joueur et secure avec nos enfants) Sans oublier la table de ping pong, le BBQ et les prestations (ménage et entretien de la piscine efficace et discret) des plus très agréables pour ce séjour en famille

Villa Metochi is everything it says it is. Great location, very quiet and peaceful in the countryside and not overlooked. Villa and annex have all we needed and more, 8 of us stayed. Pool great and used to the max, barbeque was great, and children really enjoyed Ermis, who had found an escape route in a corner of the garden but always returned, sitting at the gate to get in again. Neighbours welcoming, giving an enormous gift of their grape harvest.

Great location with nice countryside views and the distant ocean. Well equipped, homely but stylish decor with character. Excellent BBQ facilities and three dining areas. Aircon efficient and very welcome. Pool was warm and clean. Marina the owner was an excellent host and arranged a grocery shop in advance as well as a welcome gift of rusks, olives, cheese and raki. Anna the cleaner was also lovely. Close to Rethymnon, and handy for the road south to Plakias and Matala. Highly recommended.

We are currently on our last day staying at Villa Metochi and I can honestly say we don't want to go home. We are a family of 4 with 2 boys (7 and 10) and we've had such a wonderful holiday. The villa is absolutely fantastic and has every amenity you should need. The pool is amazing and warm and we've all enjoyed swimming and lounging about multiple times a day! Ermis (the dog!) is just an added bonus!! He's super friendly but requires nothing but cuddles! All the benefits of having a dog with none of the responsibilities! He will be missed by us all!! Marina (the owner) was so helpful and booked cabs for us to go into town and also ordered ya takeaway food on a number of occasions. She was so helpful and very responsive to messages. (We used WhatsApp to communicate- the villa has brilliant wifi!). So what more can I say? We all lay out on the loungers until gone midnight to watch the Perseid meteor shower last night- it was fabulous. The villa is so secluded that on one side there is very little light pollution- great for looking at the stars on a normal night and even better for seeing Perseid! Finally we loved the restaurant Cavo in Rethymno - a bit more expensive but worth it for the fab location - go early or book! Thanks Marina was a wonderful holiday!

We can not fault this clean and well maintained home away from home. It was just a pleasure to spend time at the lovely pool and gardens. It has a sizeable BBQ and two separate dining areas. You can choose to be in the company of the placid dog that comes with the house or not ( he is a big hit with adults and teenagers alike ) It appears to be very distant from the town centre but by car it is really only less than 5 minutes away. A car is necessary though and the last stretch of road to the villa is narrow. Highly recommended.

The villa was amazing, well kept with a lovely personal touch. The villa offers you privacy and is yet only a 5 min. drive away from the old town of Rethymno. A car is a must if you rent this villa. The pool is just perfect with a great view of the mountains. Wi Fi is freely available in the main house and the studio. The owners have a lovely dog called Ermis who we loved but they will take him away if your not fond of dogs.

Un week-end prolongé absolument super à Rethymno. En grande partie dû à cette magnifique villa qui nous a été très agréable. Un gros ++ pour la piscine avec vue sur la mer ! Je recommande vivement !!!!

Our family of four (kids 11 and 12 years old) had the most wonderful stay at Villa Metochi in July 2015. The villa is very well kept, well equiped (we only missed a dishwasher) and has a nice personal touch. The beds are of a good quality as well. The owner/hostess is very friendly and serviceminded. At our arrival she had put forward appetizers (olives, cheese and bread), fresh fruits, a bottle of decent white wine and a bottle of table water. This tells you everything about a hostess, who sincerely wants you to have a good stay - mission accomplished :o) The covered porch/terrace (with a nice view to the sea and mountains) and outdoor BBQ area are very lovely and provides you shade. If you really need to be cooled off the pool is just perfect! With a depth of 1,40 meters and app. 10 meters in length it is possible for adults to actually have a fairly good swim. People with younger children might miss a baby-pool. However, we and especially our children loved to play, dive and swim in the pool! The villa offers you privacy and is yet only a 5 min. drive away from the fascinating and very cozy old town of Rethymno. A car is a must if you rent this villa as there is no bus service in the area. Before going to Rethymno we stayed a week in Chania, which also a is very nice town but it misses some of Rethymnos intimacy. The villa is also perfectly situated in terms of doing excursions all over Crete. We also loved Villa Metochis dog (Ermis). It is very sweet and absolutely not aggressive in any way. He can without a worry be trusted by people not used to dogs. If you do not want the dog at the villa during your vacation, the owner will take care of that as well. The only bad thing we have to say about our stay at Villa Metochi is that we every night got disturbed several times by the neighborhood dogs barking. When one dog got started the neighboring dogs joined in. Ermis is also taking part in this... However, Greece is known for having a lot of dogs (and dogs do bark :o), so we assume this is more or less a part of the "greek package". We had the same "barking problem" at the other villa we rented in Chania. All in all we will most definitely recommend a stay at Villa Metochi to anyone whishing to visit the lovely town of Rethymno and enjoying privacy at the same time.
