The watermill is situated in a narrow valley, directly above the small river, at a small chute rapid. One can take a bath and even swim in the river, the premises are near natural, you can find sunny spots and shadowy areas through the whole day. The property is quite large, and you do not really see the neighbouring houses (at the valley top). It is a perfect spot if you like nature and want to have enough space for playing boule or badminton with your children.
The watermill itself is a very nice, romantic building. Inside you'll find a kitchen with everything you need (including a dishwasher and a washing mashine), and a nice place for eating. A big comfortable living room is one half flight of steps downstairs the kitchen, while the bathroom and two bedrooms are half flight of steps upstairs. The larger bedroom comes with nice views on the small river, it is a pleasant place to say. The smaller bedroom is organized in a very effective way with movable bunk beds and a foldout table - perhaps a bit small if you wish to do there more than playing on your smartphone. So, perhaps, it would not be really optimal if you go there with children older than ours (13 and 10).
Everything was very clean when we arrived, and everything is functional. Maybe not latest 2018 furniture, but that would certainly not fit the ambiente of a water mill. Likewise, as mentioned in another rating, the lower room may sometimes have a slight damp smell, but note you stay in a watermill close to the river (and opening the window is a solution), We enjoyed the sound of the streaming water, but if you hate it, you would have to close the window in the larger bedroom.
We enjoyed the time in the water mill a lot. It is a beautiful building at a beautiful location.
You can do your shopping in a suoermarket closeby (maybe 5 mins by car), adn we often went to a good closeby pizzeria (also 5 mins by car), If you want to get to nice spots in the mountains, or the beach, reckon with 40-60 mins driving time. Porto is some 80 mins away on the motorway.
