Good in parts
The location is potentially lovely and the view from the house is wonderful. Unfortunately, fires have spoiled the woodlands and this gives a bit of a desolate feel. Dreadful for locals. We were disappointed that the promised rowing boat and kayaks were not available; nor was Geoff and his motorcycles. My husband had been persuaded to take this holiday on the back of these features so we felt a bit cheated. However, swimming in the river was like swimming through warm silk: wonderful. And we coincided with Argentil's fiesta week: lots of local food and dancing. Fascinating. If you enjoy walking and rural simplicity, this is your place.

Fabulous place for peace and tranquility
This is our 4th visit to this amazing location . While you are there you cannot see any other houses or roads or traffic, just trees and the lake - it is so private . The villa stays cool in the heat, and the pool and lake are great for a relaxing swim or a row in the boat.
In cooler weather we’ve been cosy inside with a log fire.
The owners, Geoff and Lin, are readily on hand if needed to give lots of help and advice .
Great for motor biking too. Geoff will take you out to explore the curving mountain roads and find great spots for coffee or to enjoy the views.
I’m sure we will be back .

A place that caters for all
This location has it all and will cater for every need. Whether you want to relax, I mean truly relax then the pool, utter silence, lake views, mountain air and Forrest surrounding will certainly help all with a nice 25-30 degree heat.
If you want adventure and maybe be more active, do something you never done before then again you have a variety of choice. From kayaking the gorgeous river (5 min walk)fishing walking to motor biking around the mountains and maybe seeing Portugal out of the tourist route. The owners Geoff and Lin have lived and breathed the area for 30 years and their knowledge can be drawn upon.they are lovely people that are more than happy to help.
I did a bit of both, relaxed with a few days poolside followed by some kayaking on the lake (the waters really warm) and a day's motor bike riding around the mountains where Geoffs local knowledge really paid off.visiting beautiful villages and a few mountain lakes. Not to mention the roads WOW, smooth, corner after corner set with the back drop of views of mountains and Forrest and no traffic!a bikers dream! Amazing day that will be firmly held in the memories. I also did some off road biking and only had go out the front door to experience some great tracks and views
The villa is spacious, clean, tidy and homely. With all mod cons. The view from the veranda is outstanding watching the lake sparkle in the morning is something to behold.
The beer wine food is all delicious and reasonably priced
Anyone visiting this place can get something out of it. Adults and children alike.

Si buscas tranquilidad, este es tu paraiso
La casa está muy bien, el sitio es perfecto (aunque un incendio forestal en 2017 deja una sensación de tristeza al ver los árboles quemados), los propietarios maravillosos y dispuestos respetando tu privacidad, en definitiva, genial.
El pueblo más cercano con servicios (supermercados, gasolineras, restarurantes, ...) está a 11 kilómetros.
La casa con piscina para refrescarse, zona de ocio, buenas vistas, una barca para pasear por el rio, barbacoa, futbolín ... Una semana excepcional.

Idyllic Portuguese Getaway
5* property in a very secluded area, the perfect get-away-from it all. We knew it was going to be great from the moment we arrived. The welcome pack was amazing. The view across the river was to die for. Linda was very friendly and helpful. We loved it so much we’ve booked again for 2019....

I had a fantastic time at this amazing villa. The location is stunning and the villa itself has everything you could need. It is extremely well kept and clean plus beautifully decorated and set above a bend in the river giving a magnificent view you could never tire of. The owners Geoff and Lin make you very welcome and are extremely knowledgeable about the area if you wish to travel further afield but you really don’t need to because if you want a fantastic peaceful holiday set in amazing scenery you’ll find everything you need at Casa da Roda

Fabulous stay in this beautiful villa set amid the fragrant eucalyptus and pine trees with Wonderful views. Geoff and Linda gave us a lovely warm welcome. The Villa was beautifully presented, clean and fully equipped. Lots to see and do for all the family from chilling by the pool with a good book or rowing down the river and fishing. Fully recommend staying here and would love to return.

A truly amazing and relaxing holiday destination
Casa da Roda is situated in the most amazing location. The villa overlooks the River Alva which is great for swimming, and there is a rowing boat for exploring the river further. The view from the villa terraces and from the pool area is breathtaking. There are plenty of seating/eating areas around the property so you can be in full sun or shade. The salt water pool is perfect for cooling down and we spent most days laughing and playing around the pool. There is so much to do in the area if that's what you want. We chose to just totally relax at the villa with a few trips out during our week. The river beach at Gois is an excellent day out and you can have lunch at a table with your feet in the river which our grandchildren loved. Lin and Geoff have obviously put a lot of work into making Casa da Roda such a wonderful place. They live on site but are completely invisible unless you want them for anything. They are both very knowledgeable about the area, both are very helpful with Portuguese language, and we loved spending time with them. The villa is very well equiped and we wanted for nothing. The welcome pack of food, milk and water was great and meant we didn't immediately have to go shopping. There was also a huge bowl of fruit waiting for us. After such a stress free and relaxing holiday we've booked again for next year - well, why wouldn't you?

mooie vakantiewoning met fantastisch uitzicht
Van alle gemakken voorzien, hartelijk welkom met welkomspakket. Veel aandacht voor de ontspanning van de gasten, zoals ligstoelen bij het zwembad, luchtbedje voor in het zwembad, dvd 's.
Locatie erg rustig, veel natuur.

A haven of peace and beauty
A peaceful, secluded place in beautiful surroundings with a tastefully decorated, spacious house. If you have any concerns from the description be assured - no mozzies from the river, the pool is just big enough for proper excercise if you want it (about 10 strokes), no traffic noise from the village (half a dozen cars per day). We had a wonderful, restful holiday. Your hosts can tell you places to eat, swim and visit, but mostly we just chilled. Try a cool, early morning row on the river - magical.
