My partner Gweno and I have just returned home after two glorious weeks in the beautiful Domme area of the Dordogne. We stayed the whole two weeks at the great holiday apartment Aire des Buses, just outside the lovely village of Cenac and about a kilometre from the Dordogne river. Our host John and his partner Sue were really excellent hosts. The ground floor apartment was excellent - all the comforts of home, plenty of space, great welcome supplies, spotlessly cleane, nice and cool in the really hot recent weather and excellent value for money. The site up on the side of a wooded hill was really quiet and relaxing, had great views and lovely countryside or riverside walks. The large private pool and facilities solely for our use was brilliant. John and Sue, and John’s very recently acquired rescued friendly dog Dobby, welcomed us very warmly and were always available for very helpful info, tips and suggestions without in any way being intrusive. Indeed, they really added a lot to our holiday experience and enjoyment. Dobby took Gweno and I for lovely walks in the countryside and was a real joy. Many thanks to all three of you.
The village of Cenac, within easy walking distance of the apartment, had all the facilities you could want - realy nice restaurants, supermarket, fuel station, pharmacy, range of local shops, canoe hire centre, etc. Local villages/towns such as Domme, Roque Gageac, Beynac, Sarlat le Caneda, Belves, Gourdon were beautiful places to visit and enjoy with wonderful views, shops and restaurants. We really enjoyed the spectacular locsl scenary on our 8 mile gentle canoe trip down the Dordogne. Truely a great vacation.
