We stayed three nights at Wendy’s guest house. It’s was a fantastic experience. She is an excellent guide and we saw 25 different bird species around the property and on her night tour, frogs, cicadas and an armadillo. Wendy is very knowledgable and good at spotting wildlife we wouldn’t have noticed. The house is rustic but a haven of peace. Food can be taken cooked by Wendy’s mum and sister. All excellent. A fabulous experience of authentic CR life.

This was such a special stay. We had the smaller of the two houses which was huge for 2 people ( slept a family of 4). Beautiful design so we could wake up and watch toucans from the bedroom balcony or relax in the hammock on the downstairs balcony, looking over miles of beautiful forest. Wendy knows so much and offers many tours. There are also wonderful nearby places- we visited Dave and Dave’s for birds and did the day and night walks at Tirimbina. All superb, but Wendy is a guide herself- we needed longer in this paradise. Dona Rita is the best cook and Don Eduardo was our smiling taxi driver. Nothing was too much trouble. One of the best stays ever, anywhere. Be warned that when it rains (as it often does) that it can be extremely noisy, especially with the addition of ‘symphonic percussion’ thunder!! It certainly wouldn’t stop us staying here again though - we were quite sad to leave the whole family. Wonderful and incredible value.

Une superbe maison typique en bois ! On est accueilli par la sœur de Wendy qui nous donne les explications ! Nous décidons de manger le soir chez la maman de Wendy qui nous prépare des plats typiques du costa rica tous excellents ! On se sent comme à la maison ! Le petit dej est lui aussi excellent ! Une expérience extraordinaire car pas de fenêtres ni de volets seulement des moustiquaires ce qui permet de vivre une nuit en forêt tout en sécurité 😉😉

Wow, what a remarkable place to stay! At no other place in Costa Rica we felt so welcome. Unfortunately Wendy was not there, but her parents and sisters made up for it. The lodge is spacious and clean, you hear all kinds of animals during the night and day. Breakfast and dinner are cooked bij Dona Rita and are really very special and delicious. One of Wendy's sisters joined us for dinner so we could hear about Coast Rican life and the environment. We really felt at home. And in the neighbourhood there is enough to visit and see. Do go there, you won't regret it. Hope to be back sometime.

Wendy"s Eco Guest House is Sarapiqui, Costa Rica was lovely wonderful new experience. Wendy designed the house with comfort and spaciousness in mind. Wendy's family cooked amazing meals. Our Uncle, my husband and myself all enjoyed hearing the howling monkeys and the feel and sounds of being in the rainforest. Next time we will try to stay for longer than 2 days. Thank your Wendy for sharing Costa Rica with us! I learned so much about being in a sustainable home that now I want to share my newfound knowledge at home.

We stayed with 5 friends for 2 nights. The place is cool and special. First of all Wendy and her family make the stay special. You are greeted with a fresh pressed welcome drink and Wendy tells you a little about the area. The house is on a small street almost in the dschungle. The house is big, clean but basic. There is no aircon or fan. Master bedroom is huge and super nice with en-suite bath. There is one more bedroom and a another queen bed in the mezzanine. We made a hike to a local waterfall that Wendy recommended and did rafting the next day. Both were super nice, especially because there is almost no tourists

Een liefdevolle familie met een prachtig huis in een onbeschrijfelijke omgeving. Het huis staat op grond waar ook de familie woont. Je wordt liefdevol ontvangen, wij door de moeder van Wendy (eigenaar). Ze sprak geen Engels maar deed ontzettend haar best om (in het Spaans) te zorgen dat we begrepen wat ze zei. En dat ging goed! Je hebt een mogelijkheid om bij de familie te eten. Wij hebben dit bijna iedere ochtend en avond gedaan, het wordt met veel liefde bereid door de moeder. Het is heerlijk, ontzettend veel ze zorgen dat je niets te kort komt. Het huis is werkelijk prachtig, je kijkt vanuit je slaapkamer uit over het regenwoud. Omdat de ramen van gaas zijn, is het regenwoud ook het eerste wat je ziet wanneer je wakker wordt. Je wordt wakker van al het leven om je heen, alle geluiden van alle prachtige dieren die er leven (toekans en andere vogels, apen, kikkers, et cetera). In de schemering wordt je verrast door vuurvliegjes, magisch. Wendy verzorgt ook zelf tours, wij deden de kikker en vogel tour. Ongelofelijk hoeveel dieren ze kan vinden en wat ze erover kan vertellen, we hebben veel gezien en geleerd. Ook de waterval op het land van de buren is zeker een bezoek waard. Het prachtige huis, een magische omgeving en een ontzettend gastvrije en liefdevolle familie zorgde ervoor dat we er niet weg wilde en dan ook een nacht langer gebleven zijn. Zeker een aanrader en voor ons een must wanneer we ooit terug gaan naar Costa Rica!

This house is situated in a magnificent area. It feels like Costa Rica off the beaten path. The house is an ecological house in the middle of the nature. We saw and heard a lot of animals nearby the house. You have everything you need at the house, we missed only a chair or two to sit in the garden and the beds were not that comfortable. Wendy wasn't there at the moment we stayed there, but we felt very welcome because of her lovely family. We ate breakfast and dinner at the family house. The mom cooked us some great Costa Rican food! So you must definitely eat at the family house when you rent the house, it was really great value. They arranged the rafting, a great night tour and a walk to a nearby waterfall for us. We stayed here for 2 nights and that was enough to do the activities and to explore the region. But what makes the place so special above all is the family, they are really nice and friendly. We had great talks and learned a lot about Costa Rica! We were sad to leave and hope to come back some day.

Nous n'avons malheureusement passé qu'une seule nuit chez Wendy. Quel dommage car la maison est superbe, tout en bois et en matériaux recyclés. Wendy a pris le temps de nous accueillir avec un bon jus de fruits et est même allée en ville acheter du café car il n'y en avait plus dans la maison. Maison très confortable, eau chaude et pas de barbelés (contrairement à un précédent commentaire ...). Bon dîner préparé par la maman de Wendy. Mais nous avons surtout apprécié que Wendy dîne avec nous : parlant un anglais parfait, nous avons pu beaucoup discuter... et nous y aurions pu passer la nuit à discuter environnement et climatologie ! Le pix est élevé comme partout au CR ...mais nous n'avons pas regretté.

This was an amazing experience. The house was cute, clean, authentic and right in the middle of nature. Wendy was incredible. She was a 5 star host and hide. We ended up doing several of her tours. Excellent. We had her all to ourselves. No tourists in sight. This is real Costa Rica away from the city. The meals by her mom was great. Wendy helped us learn some Spanish. Her knowledge on fauna and nature and local culture were a treat. This is the best place for a real Costa Rican experience.
