"Away from it all" holiday home
We spent a fortnight at The Barn of Sarah & David. It is not only a beautiful country cottage, but it is also equipped with all the comforts you need for a relaxing holiday. Thanks to the large TV screen I didn't have to miss the Tour de France either. It is nice and central so we could visit many nice places. And on top that: Sarah & David are also a perfect host and hostess.

If you do nothing/go nowhere else this year... why you should stay at The Barn, Ergny!
Why should you stay at ‘The Barn’, in Ergny?...if you have already you will know why... and how there aren’t words adequate enough to describe...
Firstly.. not only the welcome you will receive from Sarah and David, the owners, who live on site, but the care they exercise in every way for their guests - it obviously is a business but you’d never know it.. it’s like staying with friends.. and if you have a problem like when my wife was taken ill, Sarah arranged for us to see her Doctor... accompanied us to translate and ensure everybody knew what was going on, came to the Pharmacist and did the same thing... and then took us back to her home for coffee..
Secondly.. the accommodation feels just as friendly as the welcome and encourages you to feel completely at ease as soon as you step through the door..and much of the construction has been lovingly done by David , and in the same way as a chef wants to give his clients his best, that’s how you feel David approached this unique refurbishment..
Thirdly.. Ergny is Ergny...nothing more, nothing less.. no shop (bread delivered daily by a lady in a van).. nothing commercialised at all – and it is the same year round and for your stay you are accepted as part of the village – even the bus driver waves at you!
...so for those who haven’t stayed there yet... don’t get off the ferry and rush down the autoroute at 110km/hr as we all do..stay here, just forty minutes from the port and in the middle of lovely rolling countryside..make it a big haven’t stayed ‘yet’... because you must... ‘bucket list job!.. you won’t regret it.. and it might even become a habit!

It felt like having friends come to stay with us and we thoroughly enjoyed your company. Hopefully next time you come over we can avoid the Drs and that you can see a bit more of this lovely region. Come back and see us soon

Cosy and Romantic
My husband and I stayed here a while ago and intend to come back when we can find a little time to ourselves! Sarah and David are great hosts - so much so that we’ve stayed at their larger house, Coq Rouge, with friends a few times. The Barn is the perfect place for a cosy and relaxing stay. Photos do not do it justice! The period features are beautiful and give the barn a real warmth and it was completely spotless. The kitchen is very well equipped - perfect for me as I love spending a bit of time cooking on holiday rather than rushing around like I do at home! I cannot recommend this place enough!
I would also recommend Sarah and David’s BBQ Hut Night which is located in their back garden, so an easy stumble home if you like a glass of wine or three! Fabulous food and company!
My husband and I look forward to returning to the barn in the future!

Superbe
Endroit magnifique. Propriétaires très à l'écoute et plus que serviables. Sarah et David nous ont renseigné un resto au top et nous qui aimons les chats Bella nous a gaté. Nous recommandons cet endroit aussi pour son calme et sa tranquilité.

fantastic christmas break
we had an excellent Christmas break at the barn. The barn is very cosy and comfortable it is well equipped with everything yo need. Sarah and David the owners are so friendly and helpful. we will definitely be staying again .

Serendipity In a Barn
My partner and I stayed a week here in February and it was truely magical! I take exception with 47penny15 review!! Cobwebs and dust are part of a centurys' old building with beams!! As much as you dust you will never clear it and spiders just mean a very happy house! But a sad sad person who needs to be connected to the internet all the time and worries about the cyber world should not come here at all!
We experienced utter peace and fantastic forays into surrounding countryside with the most friendly happy hosts ever!!

Paradise
We have rented gites in France several times a year for the last 25 years and this one is one of the best. A lovely warm welcome from our fantastic hosts who are living our dream. The Barn is decorated with style and charm. It is very comfortable and is well equipped. The grounds are lovely and we have enjoyed the pool. Thank you Sarah and David for a great holiday which we so needed

Lovely location.
Wonderful location. Clean enough but not up to the standard of other gites we have stayed in. A lot of dust (particularly on the wooden stairs) and cobwebs. Internet access was extremely poor. I had to go outside to get a signal. When I mentioned this to the owner I was challenged on how old my iPad was (one year) and then told I shouldn't bring work with me on holiday! Mostly well equipped but lacked suitable oven gloves and decent frying pan. However it was well supplied with saucepans if you wanted to cook for an army. We counted ten in all! Couldn't light the oven as there were no instructions. Turned out I needed matches. A few were provided. Fridge was definitely on the small size compared to other gites. Nice and warm and very cosy.

Thank you for reviewing the Barn and we take all feedback serious however, we would like to point out that it is very unfair to criticise the Barn at the end of your holiday when you are sitting in the car ready to go which gives us no chance to address the issues. Internet access is available and other guests have used it with little problems in the past, although the signal can be weak at times as we are very rural, and the comment regarding work was meant as a joke but you obviously did not appreciate it. We are looking at a system to improve the strength of the connexion, particularly with iPads, but I have just responded to your comment whilst sitting in the Barn with my PC, testing the connectivity and it is fine.
The Barn is fully cleaned between guests and should there have been a problem with dust and cobwebs we would have addressed it immediately. Admittedly the oven glove was not there but there was a pan holder - a new oven glove is now in the drawer, as is a new frying pan (there were 2 small deep French style frying pans and a normal size pyrex one). We added extra pans in various sizes so guests have a great choice to use. The instructions for the oven are in the information pack in the kitchen drawer although I did show you on the first night how to light the oven, which is very simple and matches are provided. The Barn is for a couple so there is not a huge fridge but it is normally adequate and it has a small freezer box as noted in the description. You forgot to mention in your review that we kindly let you use our personal freezer for all the UK milk you brought, nor the fact that we also invited you for aperitifs at our other property at which point you managed to insult your hosts. We strive very hard to make sure all our guests have an enjoyable holiday and we have had many satisfied guests, many of whom have returned time and time again to us. As previously stated had we been aware of the issues you found, we could have rectified them immediately.

A great week in rural Northern France – we adored this barn conversion
My wife and I spent a week in October staying in this fantastic property. We had a wonderful time in this comfortable and easily maintained gite.
The property is situated in a very attractive area, with all the sights, sounds and smells expected in such a rural location. The directions were very clear and we had the warmest of welcomes on our arrival at the barn. The property is accurately described and it met our needs perfectly. We really liked the creativity and skill of the owners who had provided idyllic holiday accommodation whilst retaining many of the building’s original features. The living room is very comfortably furnished, with a settee and a leather chair. The kitchen provides every facility needed for a self-catering holiday, with full sized gas hob and oven, as well as a small fridge. There was plenty of crockery with enough pans for cooking. The bathroom was perfectly acceptable with a toilet, sink and shower cubicle. There was always ample hot water at a very reasonable pressure. The spacious bedroom had plenty of storage. We found the bed to be very comfortable which meant we sometimes got up rather late. The wi-fi worked well so we could keep up with family back in the UK. The benefit of having UK terrestrial channels on the TV meant that be assured that it was still raining back home.
Our preferred holiday making involves plenty of sightseeing, walking and dining. There is so much to see in this part of France – we especially enjoyed visiting the coastal resorts to the west. The peace and tranquillity were much appreciated – the quiet roads were a pleasure to drive, despite the mud left by all the tractors. I would like to thank the owners for helping to make our holiday such a memorable one. Their kindness and friendliness will stay with us as one of the most pleasurable features of our stay. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property to future holiday makers. You will be assured of a carefree holiday.

Fantastic Hosts
We spent a week in the Barn. It was in a lovely location.
We had a good welcome from the owners.
They were helpful with lots of information.
Le Touquet is a wonderful beach which is not too far from the Holiday Barn.
Well worth a visit.
