A little gem in the Vendée crown
Situated in Laroux, the property is large, comfortable, well equipped and private. There is WiFi, TV, parking and just across the road is a bread vending machine so you can ‘bag a baguette’ (sorry, dad joke).
The immediate surrounding area offers a haven for birds and wildlife and then a short car journey and you can be sitting on a beach.
La Rochelle is not a million miles away so if you want to do some shopping, enjoy cultural stimulation or take a coffee with a view then you’ll want to go there a couple of times.
This property is perfect for those who want to immerse themselves in French life but with tourist destinations just a short drive away.

Fantastic Stay
Lovely holiday home with such friendly, helpful and welcoming hosts.
Great pool with lovely views (and fantastic sunsets!) and a very well equipped games room so ideal for children of all ages.
Lots to do and a short drive to the local beach as well as other beaches and towns to explore further afield. Good choice of supermarkets in Lucon and also a lovely park - Jardin Dumaine. We highly recommend.

A great stay!
I can't thank you enough Annette & Jason for choosing me as your competition winner back in 2020, and for being so accommodating by allowing us to change the dates after Covid hit.
We had such a great time staying in L'Ecurie holiday cottage, and have made some great memories. The only downside was that we couldn't stay longer!
The weather was gorgeous which made for a couple of relaxing days by your amazing pool & a day trip to The Marais Poitevin & Les Sables-d'Olonne.
We hope to meet you again here in the UK soon

Our third visit. Lovely to be there again!
We love being at Maison Lairoux. It's a peaceful spot, with great views, and a superb base for exploring the marais, the coast and countryside. The bird watching is wonderful and there is a lot of fascinating prehistory around the area.

Just perfect...again!
Our 4th visit to Maison Lairoux, this year staying in L’Ecurie for a month with our 19 year old son & his friend. Jason and Annette are the prefect hosts where nothing is too much trouble. The cottage is extremely well equipped but still maintains that authentic french charm. The heated pool is amazing with lots of room to relax. There’s a super gym on site, which the lads used (see ML videos) and there’s also a games room with a table tennis table and pool table, as well as loads to do for the younger generation. Sitting on the patio in the evening overlooking the pool watching the sunset is the perfect way to relax. Highly recommended ⭐️

Christmas break
Had a great Christmas stay Annette and Jason made us feel so welcome home from home and very comfortable. Beaches near by were great as we had our dog with us who enjoyed his walks on the sands

A relaxing, welcoming place to stay, in any season
It was lovely to be in the gite at a different time of year from our last visit, which was in winter 5 years ago. Our hosts welcomed us with wines, biscuits and fresh picked tomatoes from the garden! We were able to help our selves to lots of fruit in the garden too, as well as more tomatoes, which we really appreciated. We found some beautiful walks, at the coast and on the Marais Poitevin, and visited the beautiful 'Jardin de William Christie' and the 'Marais de la Vacherie' nature reserve among others. We also enjoyed walking along the canals at Marans. Using the pool was a big plus this time, and we enjoyed revisiting the Jardin Dumaine in Luçon.
All in all, a great base for a fortnight, especially in lovely weather.

Vendee Dog Friendly Holiday Home
Annette & Jason are fantastic hosts, they made us feel so welcome and the gites are well equipped to an extremely high standard. Extremely dog friendly and lots to do in the area including O'Gliss Water Park, Parc Floral, la Rochelle and Puy du Fou. Highly recommend and hope to return soon.

Heavenly gite in the Vendee
This beautiful part of the Vendee is a haven for wildlife as well as being within easy reach of the sea. For a couple L'Ecurie is a perfect place to stay to enjoy the region as well as being an exceptionally well maintained gite with just the right amount of modernisation to make it comfortable, without taking away the fact that it is an old French stable building. Annette and Jason have thought of absolutely everything you might need when on a self-catering holiday so no need to try and remember the kitchen sink when you are packing! The gardens are so peaceful and well looked after, then there is the beautiful pool with plenty of places to relax in sun or shade. The hosts are extremely welcoming and helpful with advice of places to go to suit your interests. There's also a games room with table tennis, an enormous library of books and DVDs and if you have children I imagine you would struggle to ever get them to leave the place, there are so many things to keep all ages amused. This was our third visit to l'Ecurie, which in itself shows how much we enjoy being there. And we will be back!

Maison Lairoux Holiday Home, Vendee France
Had a fantastic time in this beautiful, fully equipped luxury holiday home in the Vendee. The owners Annette and Jason were so friendly and helpful and gave us wine, biscuits and doggie packs on arrival! Perfect for us as Dog friendly accommodation, but for those with children, there is a fully equipped games room with tv, a stage, full sized table tennis, including heated pool and gym room! Great local walks and river and beach swims for the dogs! Local restaurants (10 minutes by car) provide good cuisine, but we mainly ate al fresco on the terrace to gaze at the stunning sunset! We didn’t want to leave so booked a few extra nights! Highly recommended for dog owners, families with children or just couples.

For peak and high season, the changeover day is a Saturday, but we are able to be more flexible outside of these summer dates. We can also accommodate short breaks (off season) (minimum 3 nights) and long winter lets, so please call us for more details.
A 30% deposit will be required to secure the reservation with the remaining payment being made 8 weeks prior to the start of your stay.
A £100/€130 security deposit cheque is also required against any damages to the property.
We are able to accept payment by credit card or direct bank transfer, either in Pounds Sterling or Euros.
