Lovely properties
We booked a 7 night stay in 3 of these cottages as our party was made up of a large extended family group. We booked The Barn, The Byre and The Stable and were very impressed with all three. They are very well appointed, spotlessly clean and comfortable. The area is quite isolated, but you are only 10 minutes away from Devils Bridge and 20 minutes away from the coast. We booked a trip on the Vale of Rheidol steam train from Aberystwyth to Devils Bridge, but we were a little disappointed as you only had one hour at Devils Bridge before you had to get back on the train. This didn't give you long enough to explore properly and see the waterfalls so we went back the following day by car to do just that.
Having small children and a dog with us, finding a sandy, dog friendly beach was a must. We had a great day on Aberdovey beach which was quite a distance away, and another on the south side of the estuary at Ynyslas which is directly opposite Aberdovey and a lot closer.
All in all, we hade a great staycation in Wales and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Margaret and Ivan at the farm were very welcoming and were very approachable and helpful. They have done a wonderful job of renovating these old farm buildings and the layout worked perfectly for us.

Our stay at the Barn
Margaret was friendly and helpful. The layout of the farm‘s holiday properties meant it was easy to social distance.
Good size kitchen with all modern appliances (it would be helpful to have some instructions on how to use these as appliances differ by manufacturer).
Set within working farm which is situated in the beautiful welsh countryside.
The roof of the barn’s upstairs bed room is very low so a lot of the space there is lost and unusable. You often hit your head on the ceiling - it’s more suitable for children.
The boiler which provides heating and hot water has been installed into the built in wardrobes in this upstairs bedroom. This boiler serves all of the other holiday cottages. The boiler made the room very noisy and hot - making it difficult to sleep. There was no mention of the boiler being in this bedroom on the pre-booking details.
We expected 2 x full size double beds in this upstairs bedroom and on arrival there was a small double bed which our legs/feet hung over the end of and two small single beds opposite each other.
Due to Covid restrictions the games room was closed which was a shame - we fully understand why, but this should be updated on the booking information page/details.

Lovely place to stay
We stayed for a week here with some friends and had a great time. Why? Well the countryside around was stunning and the old mine close by was interesting.So were the several abandoned cottages...what housing shortage?!!
Devils bridge is nearby and so is the narrow gauge steam railway to Aberystwyth...we coupled this with a trip to the large new Tesco at Aberystwyth for supplies.
The owners were very helpful and we had fresh farm eggs most days.
Highly reccommended

Peace and quiet

Lovely accessible family home for a week!
A beautiful, peaceful hideaway in the Welsh countryside!
The Barn is so well equipped and very comfortable. We enjoyed exploring the awe-inspiring surroundings, had great days at the beach and then came home to stunning sunsets and our cosy cottage!
Margaret was so helpful and more than willing to adapt the bedroom set up to meet our needs!
Thank you for enabling us to have a really wonderful holiday!

Beautiful Barn Cottage
Lovely cottage, with great facilities. Very warm welcome and great stay. High recommendation. (Please could the cottage have a potato masher 😉). Would definitely visit again.

A great place to stay...highly recommended
We were hoping that this cottage...lovely converted stables...would be good and it didn't disappoint!
The place was warm and cosy with a very well appointed kitchen and 2 bathrooms.
The open plan kitchen and sitting area made for an excellent place to cook and chat.
A games room is provided with wifi and we spent many an hour there playing pool after a day's exertions.
There is a circular walk up over old mine workings as well as lots of sheep and cattle.
Mary made us very welcome as well as providing us with fresh free range eggs.

Peaceful relaxation with great views, red kites and Welsh cakes
A wonderful few days away as family of 4. Feel like we've been away for ages. Greeted by Margaret at the cottage which was warm n toasty with a plate of Welsh cakes and half a dozen eggs. The beds were comfy with crisp linen and towels fluffy. Kids enjoyed the games room and the whirlpool bath. Lambs and red kites on hills around. A great find. Loved it.

Best of Both Worlds
A lovely country hideaway with modern facilities. The Barn was much bigger than it appears in the photos. A fabulous find for our family weekend together (6 of us) with my son currently at Aber Uni joining us. We spent days out enjoying nearby attractions, and the evenings playing darts, table tennis and pool over a few beers. Once the family left I stayed for a few days on my own to chill and recharge my batteries in beautiful surroundings. Absolute bliss.
