My family and friends rented this property from January 6, 2023 to January 13, 2023. Some background on our vacation rentals, we rent one or two luxury vacation homes per year, always in Puerto Vallarta so we have much to compare this home too.
The home itself is nice, great location but really needs some updating which you would normally not notice but for the terrible service.
I’ll begin with the fact that Juan (house manager) is never around. That is not an opinion, that is a fact and that is definitely not the case at other homes. Also, this home is located next to Casa Salinas II, so you have one staff taking care of two homes, hence why the service is just not a five star experience its not adequate. You and your guests should not have to go looking for staff, as we did, to find a towel or drink.
Juan was very aggressive with our group, first he insulted us by calling us all gringos. Well, I am not, in fact all but two of us are Mexican-Americans from Chicago and bi-cultural. I myself am a dual citizen.
When we requested traditional Mexican cuisine, he just said no. In his opinion the food was too aggressive for gringo stomachs. Juan just did what he wanted with the menu, no matter what you asked for. The food was fine, the cook, Martha did some home style dishes well and Paco was also very good but at other rentals you get a chef, that sits with your group and plans out the meals.
Juan kept pushing his Panga (boat) for us to rent, we agreed but did not ask for the price right away and when we did; well it was outrageous. I’ve done this before many times and he was easily three times what it really costs. We said no and he snapped at us for refusing. He was threatening.
Juan also would not allow the pool to heat up for us, he shut it down then threatened us with an $8,000 fine if we touched the temperature controls, I mean who does that? We are paying guests.
Juan also has a very aggressive dog that barks all the time, especially at about 5AM, yeah that’s what you want on vacation.
Juan also has a cat, two of us are allergic to cats so we had to dance around the cat.
One of the rooms had a broken shower head, well it took two days before it got repaired and we had to keep asking.
Bottom line Juan will make you feel unwelcome and frightened, when he’s around. You’re on your own at this house then you have to be scared of the staff when they are around. I don’t recommend, there are so many homes to rent, avoid Casa Salinas I and II since its the same people.
