We booked this lovely Gite for a week while we were house hunting ourselves in the Limousin region. Sonia and Eddie were the perfect hosts, always on hand when needed for great local knowledge and advice, but not at all intrusive. The Gite itself was lovely, well appointed, with a stunning view and gardens which our 2 daughters thoroughly enjoyed. There were all the amenities in the Gite you would expect and more. The bottle of wine on arrival was thoroughly enjoyed as were the garden games. The local area was lovely, would absolutely recommend a visit to the nearby Lac de Vassiviere for stunning scenery and plenty of activities. We will definitely return in the future.

Le Chardon is located in a peaceful village amid beautiful countryside, within easy reach of many attractions. Our hosts made us feel very welcome and did everything to make our stay a happy one. We enjoyed socialising with the locals. I would highly recommend a visit.

Only managed to experience a couple of nice days this time during Easter in the region. Despite this the accommodation set in beautiful gardens was comfortable with all the amenities. The log burner a god send. We enjoyed watching the chickens (quite the characters - I think one was called Elvis - brilliant....) and spotting the cats around the garden, there is also a garden swing which was welcomed by our younger daughter on the dryer days. Eddie and Sonia very friendly and accommodating - we enjoyed our stay.

The gite has lovely views and outdoor space and everything you could need inside. The bed was very comfortable and the decor really cosy and welcoming. Sonia and Eddie were great hosts-nothing was too much trouble to ensure your stay is memorable- and providing really useful information about the area and life in France. The owners made us very welcome from the moment we arrived and throughout our stay they were helpful but not intrusive. The gite is very cosy with comfortable beds, everything you need in the kitchen and well maintained. Outside there is a lovely big garden with great views and a nice terrace for eating and enjoying the sunshine. We found the location very good to get out and explore the area. We had a great stay at Le Chardon and would recommend it to anyone.

Nous avons eu un peu de mal à trouver le gîte, mais notre recherche fut récompensée par un accueil très chaleureux des propriétaires Sonia et Ed. Ensuite nous avons découvert une magnifique vue sur la campagne du limousin et du calme qu'y règne, nous avons ouvert la porte du gîte et cela fut une agréable surprise. Il faisait frais malgré la chaleur extérieure, nous avons fait notre petite visite et cela nous a ravis. Même mes filles ont adoré et quand notre dernière à vu les chèvres elle était aux anges. Nous n'avons pas grand-chose à dire en points négatif la seul chose qui nous a gêné la taille du réfrigérateur, il serait plus grand cela aurait été parfait. Aussi vigilance car pas de wifi et peu de réseau 4g pour les accros de la technologie cela pourrait coincer. Mais quand vous observez les étoiles la nuit et que le silence est bien présent, un vrai repos pour le corps et l'esprit. Sonia et Ed sont très gentils et Ed vous donne des conseils avec un immense sourire et il respire la joie de vivre et il vous communique sa bonne humeur.

Vacances reposantes avec petit bébé. Le gite est charmant, au calme, avec une vue magnifique et proche de lieux touristiques. Le genre d'adresse à garder secrète pour en profiter tous les ans mais les propriétaires discrets et très abordables méritent les compliments. Les poules et les chèvres nous manquent.

What a wonderful little corner of paradise this place is!! The gite is spacious, bright, and comfortable, with everything you could possibly need. The owners are delightful, always happy to help and wonderful company to share some local wine with should you wish to. The garden and views are beautiful, and very peaceful. There are lots of lovely villages close by to explore, and the local lakes are fabulous on a hot day. If you want to stay local, I highly recommend the auberge in the village, the food was the best I've tasted in many years. A truly wonderful week, and we can't wait to come back!!

WOW!! We stayed for a week in this very comfortable, fully equipped Gite whilst looking for a property to buy ourselves. We knew we loved the Limousin area from previous visits. Our hosts Eddie & Sonia's enthusiasm for the area and lifestyle just confirmed we were making the right decision. They provided us with wood for the log burner for when the evenings went off cool, and great company sharing a few bottles of wine. Absolutely recommend anyone to stay @ Le Chardon :-)

Le gite est très agréable et les paysages sont magnifiques. Eddie et Sonia sont de parfaits hôtes très accueillants! On a passé de merveilleuses vacances :D
