A group of friends spent a wonderful week at Casa BajaMar. Alfred and his family take wonderful care of the home, pool and grounds and provide the perfect hospitality! Alfred seamlessly handled availability of golf carts on site, provisions available in the refrigerator upon arrival, numerous excursions directly from the dock and so much more!! If you are looking for a perfect week in a perfect paradise Casa BajaMar is highly recommended!! We will be back!

Great beachfront, quiet location on the north side of the island but not too far from all the action. Good restaurants within walking distance or a short golf cart ride from the house. Very comfortable accommodations with a nice pool and plenty of room, but the best part of being there was the staff! I cannot say enough good things about Alfred, the Property Manager! He was always available to address an issue, offer recommendations, or answer questions; and was also unobtrusive. He also booked excursions for us and any kind of transportation needed! Dianie, Alfred's wife, did an amazing job with dinner one night. Other family members also raked the beach, took care of trash, carried our bags, and a multitude of other things. The only downside of the trip was the sargassum that was all over the beach and was stinky. . . . This is something that is beyond anyone's control. We were still able to go snorkeling, scuba diving, and fishing. The boat picked us up right at the end of the pier! I highly recommend this property for any families or couples looking to spend some time on Ambergris Caye! The property and staff cannot be beat, and I'm already looking forward to going back!

We had been looking to plan a trip to Belize for a while. We found a lot of positive reviews on Baja Mar. and we reached out to Tony. He was super helpful in answering all our questions and helping us navigate covid protocol. He responded quickly and completely to all my questions, and there were a lot! My sister and I and our families (total of 9) spent a week at Baja Mar at the end of July. We arrived via the Nautilus Water Taxi and were dropped off right on Baja Mar’s dock. Alfred was there waiting to greet us. The house is beautiful and had room to accommodate all with plenty of extra room. It is very clean and well equipped. I loved the way the house was laid out and that almost every bedroom had access to a porch. Much of our time was spent enjoying these porches. We were lucky enough to have Dianie cook us a welcome meal. We had the seafood barbecue and it was out of this world. They even added chicken for our non-seafood eaters. There was so much food that we had plenty for a snack the next day. Dianie is an excellent chef and every meal we had was delicious. I highly recommend having her cook at least a couple meals for you while you are there. Alfred greeted us every morning an helped us get our plan together for the week. We decided on two excursions. Onee was a snorkeling (reef and Shark Ray Alley) and Caye Caulker trip. It was a great day full of sunshine, beautiful water, exotic fish, rum punch and lots of laughter. The other trip was an all day fishing tour and beach barbecue. What a day! Alfred arranged a trip for us through Under da Sea. Darwin, Elvis, Louie and Landen were our guides and they were instantly like family. Everyone was taught to spear fish and some of us successful in spearing some of our lunch. Others were able to catch fish from the boat. The barbecue was fantastic. Alfred arranged golf carts and we used them to go into town most days. They were super convenient and a lot of fun. One night when coming back from town, when we got to the house my daughter noticed that her drivers license had fallen out. My daughter went back to the golf cart area to look for it. Alfred came out and asked her what she had lost. The next day we found out, after she came back to the house, Alfred got a flashlight and searched the path for it. When he didn’t find it, he continued the search the next morning. We were surprised and thrilled when they brought it to us shortly after we woke up. Talk about going the extra mile! Another day I wanted to go swimming off the dock. I went to the stairs at the end of the dock and was planning on going in when I noticed the stairs were quite old and some were missing. After starting down them, I changed my mind and went back to the pool. We left for town shortly after. When we arrived back at Baja mar, I noticed that new stairs had been put in!! I hadn’t even mentioned it to Alfred. Everyone at Baja Mar went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed to have the best vacation ever. All of our days were great, but we really loved the days where we stayed at the house and enjoyed the pool and breathtaking scenery. We went during Covid but we feel that had little impact on our vacation. The people of Belize all practiced covid protocol. We felt very safe the entire time. Alfred encouraged our group to stay together and take private excursions. We took his advice and that really allowed us to enjoy our trip with no worries. We were also able to take our exit Covid tests at the house which was very convenient. We loved Baja Mar and will definitely come back.

In case you are not interested in reading a long review, let me just say that we had an amazing stay at Casa BajaMar. If we could give better than a 5-star rating, we would do so. For those wanting a more complete review, please read on. Let’s start with Casa BajaMar itself. It is a beautiful house, set up to host one big family (as we were with 8 people) or potentially 5 couples. The house features two large balconies, one with terrific views of the infinity pool and the ocean and one on the other side of the house that is sheltered from the wind, which is great for dining and otherwise relaxing. BajaMar is 5 miles north of San Pedro, so about a 25-30 minute golf cart ride back into town, with great dining options and limited grocery options in between. It has a private pier where you get picked up for various excursions, ranging from scuba diving, to Mayan ruin tours, to fly fishing. There are 4 kayaks available for guests (2 single kayaks and 2 2-seaters), that you can take out for a neat snorkeling trip to the coral head reefs. It’s a trek out there, but it’s well worth it. There is also great snorkeling around the pier, and you can see large rays and other fun sea critters right off the dock. One of our favorite things about our stay at BajaMar was the caretakers. Alfred and Dianie put all new meaning to the word “care” in caretaker. Alfred was always there to cheerfully get us launched every morning, regardless of the departure time (some as early as 5 am) or the number of excursions (as a large group we sometimes broke into separate groups to dive, fly fish, or go on other tours). I expect that with our group it was akin to herding cats, but he took it all in stride and made sure everything went off without a hitch. Want to schedule a last-minute excursion – Alfred is on it! He is an amazing resource for all things in the area and has great stories to share. He also coordinated Covid tests right at the house before our departure to smooth our transition back to the States. Dianie is an amazing cook. We loved every meal she prepared for us, but our favorite was the blackened red snapper. We had that both for our welcoming dinner and for out last dinner at BajaMar. We also got a chance to meet Lovely, the adorable little furball of a puppy who will become the new mascot of BajaMar! Tony, the owner of Casa BajaMar, was also a real pleasure to deal with. He is a great communicator and provided us with all the information that we needed to make sure we enjoyed our stay. This included updating us on Covid-related developments which were changing around the time of our trip. Tony also took time to talk in depth with my husband regarding his fly-fishing experience and objectives and helped him line up a guide to put him on bonefish, tarpon, and permit. Covid and related restrictions are pretty much on everyone’s mind these days, but we were really comforted by what we saw and experienced while in Belize - almost everyone in and around San Pedro was really good at complying with mask mandates and other Covid safety regulations. The bottom line is that we could not have asked for a better vacation experience, and we hope to be back to BajaMar soon!

The experience of staying at BajaMar on Ambergris Caye is exceptional on many levels. The location is beautiful and the house is an architectural jewel. It is expertly maintained by caretakers Alfred, John and Christian who live in another house on the property. Alfred also functioned as a concierge for anything we needed and his wife, Dianie, provided us with the best food we had on the island. So the combination of a beautiful home, a beautiful place, expert staff and wonderful locally-sourced home cooking is truly exceptional. Here are some of the things Alfred and Dianie did for us: Alfred arranged to have the golf cart company meet us at the airport and guide us to the house. Dianie prepared a delicious blackened snapper dinner the first night. She made amazing fry jacks for the next morning breakfast. On my wife’s birthday, a couple of days later, they decorated the veranda dining area with balloons, palm fronds and flowers. It really touched my wife’s heart. We had a delicious meal of shrimp and chicken kabobs and Dianie made the most amazing tres leches cake. After living our entire lives in Texas, we have eaten a lot of tres leches but this was the best by far and most beautifully decorated. Birthday memories we will treasure. Alfred also arranged for all of our boat transportation and set up our COVID 19 tests which were administered at the house. He also bailed us out of some trouble we caused with the safes. Alfred and Dianie were so much more than staff, they are like having friends with all the local knowledge. From what I understand, things were very quiet on Ambergris Caye because tourism is just beginning to come back and some places were still not open. Unfortunately the Rojo Beach bar just steps from the house is one of them. However, after just a few more steps on the beach we were able to have lunch, dinner and great frozen cocktails at the Mambo beachfront restaurant. We also enjoyed Blue Bayou at Secret Beach, Estel's Dine By The Sea, The Tipsy Lobster and Truck Stop.

We were a party of 8 (two families) 4 adults and 4 children. The house is wonderful for two families, each getting their own space with plenty of room to congregate together as well. We enjoyed sitting by the pool while the kids played in the water. Each morning we were delighted to be able to buy various breakfast burritos from the local brothers who walk the beach selling them. We ate these down by the dock with our morning coffee. Diane made us a wonderful welcome dinner, we chose the fish BBQ and were not disappointed. We rented golf carts to use around the island and explored San Pedro as well as Secret Beach. The resort just a few steps away, Matachica, had wonderful drinks and food. We spent one day on a fishing/snorkeling excursion, one day on a scuba/snorkeling trip to Caye Caulker. We saw so much marine life; sea turtles, sting rays, loads of various fish, nurse sharks and even an hammerhead shark. To top it off we were able to spot two Manatees at the end of the day. Alfred arranged Covid testing for us the day before our departure. It all was so easy and smooth. The clinic came directly to the house and Alfred picked up our results later that day. Bajamar is truly an oasis and we were not disappointed with our second trip to this home. There has been quite a bit of development in the past 5 years with more dining options within a 5 minute drive of the house. Make sure to try Tipsy Lobster. We look forward to returning.

We stayed here in January (4 couples) and cannot say enough about how great of a time we had. Alfred and Dianni are the best and set up diving, snorkeling, golf carts, food, alcohol, etc. We got there and there were groceries already in the frig, cold beer and golf carts so we could go back & forth to town. Alfred suggested we use Coral Reef Divers for a joint snorkeling/diving day and they were amazing. Everything about our stay there was exceptional and I would go back here another time without hesitation. Dianni cooked a few dinners and lunches for us and everything she cooked was delicious. Cannot recommend this place enough!!!

This place is clean and we always felt safe. From the dock, you can find pelicans, sting rays, nurse sharks, conch and so much more. Our family of 10 stayed there over Christmas 2020. COVID made things a little strange but everything seemed to work out. The beds were comfy and the property is immaculate. Alfred really makes this place happen. We asked if we could go on a trip where 4 of us could SCUBA while the other 6 snorkeled. No problem, he set up a custom tour for the next day (through Chris at Coral Divers Belize). How about a plane trip to go see the Blue Hole? No problem, he set it up for the next day. Can we get fresh fruit delivered? No problem. Golf cart rentals? No problem, they were there waiting for us at the airport when we first arrived. Restaurant reservations for Christmas? No problem, the restaurant will pick you up at the dock. Alfred is such a friendly guy and really does everything to make you vacation stress free and relaxing.

We had a group of 8 adults and the house was perfect for our group. Anthony was amazing answering all my questions regarding booking the house. Dianie and Alfred couldn't have been more helpful. Dianie's cooking was amazing. We had a welcome dinner which was perfect as our flight got in later in the afternoon. The beach and the pool were amazing. Will definitely stay here again.

We booked Bajamar to celebrate a milestone birthday with a girl’s to Belize and we could not have been happier! We were greeted upon arrival (just after sunset) by a smiling Alfred right on the Bajamar dock with his sidekick Po (his dog). The house was all lit up for us and looked so inviting! The crew of the Nautilus Express (which we highly recommend) and Alfred helped get luggage for 10 women from the boat up to the house. That was no easy task! After we all got settled in, Alfred said that he and Dianie would be serving dinner in just a few moments. That welcome dinner was absolutely AMAZING and so convenient, given our nearly full day of travel to the island. It was one less thing we needed to worry about – so if you stay here be sure to get Dianie to cook some of her delicious food for you! The house was absolutely perfect for our group. It had everything we wanted and needed for our getaway: beautiful blue ocean, kayaks, great kitchen and common area with all the amenities, private pool with in water seats and pool floats, lots of outdoor seating and convenient to a couple of restaurants/bars within walking distance. The bedrooms are very roomy and airy with air conditioning; some have kitchenettes with mini fridges. Bathrooms were good sized and had everything we needed. There are large balconies on both the ocean side (east) and west side of the house. If you go up to the top balcony on the west side, you can see so many stars, as there is very little light pollution on the island! It’s quite beautiful there at night! The property really has so much to offer. I highly recommend it, especially for a group of people traveling together. The photos are great, but the breathtaking views and house was even better in person. This is a perfect place to get away and relax and enjoy being in the moment. And Alfred and Dianie are the best! Alfred was so helpful in helping arrange golf carts and excursions for us! He is such a nice guy and gave us great advice on what to see and do while we were visiting. All around 5-Star experience at a private home that we could all enjoy together and yet still able retreat to our private suites whenever we wanted. I feel like we are in an exclusive club being one of the ones fortunate enough to stay at this wonderful property. We have collectively agreed that we will all go back again to Bajamar for a future vacation!
