A Tip of the Hat to our Hosts
My family's stay at Lantau Lodge was like a dream! And no, I am not given to hyperbole. From the moment we arrived, Michael and his wife were the perfect hosts. Michael even had warm, homemade bread waiting for us! He then prepared a welcoming dinner of pork chops, pizza, fruit, etc. We were overwhelmed. My family was so enthralled by their experience at the lodge, even when we went out to Disneyland, New Year's Eve fireworks, et al, they were always so happy to return to the lodge! We are already talking about going back for next year's New Year's Eve...

Relaxing hiking getaway on Lantau
Michael and Michelle are welcoming and thoughtful hosts who go the extra mile to ensure their guests have a wonderful stay. We appreciated the homemade bread and essentials in the fridge, and the tips on local hiking, restaurants and beaches. It was great to be able to bring our dog to enjoy all the hiking with us.

Great host! Superb location for clamming at Shui Hau!
The lodge is superb for clamming at Shui Hau Wan and exploring Lantau Island. Very clear instructions and images were given which helped us find the lodge easily. Michael was a wonderful host and graciously offered to make dinner for us which we accepted gratefully. The pizza was very yummy and the best I ever had! He gave good recommendations on nearby trails too. We went on one of them to visit a nice secluded beach at Lo Kei Wan.
There is also a convenience store next door which serves breakfast. Bread, eggs, milk, bacon, etc were also provided in the fridge for those who prefer to cook their own breakfast/meals.

Fabulous time in a fabulous City.
I spent ten nights at Lantau Lodge and had a very pleasant comfortable stay with a very nice family. In spite of difficult times I was kept safe and still managed to see what I wanted to see especially WW2 sites and Macau via Bridge. Thank you Michael J and hope to return again.

Relaxing escape close to the action
We chose Lantau Lodge so that we could visit Hong Kong, and avoid any disruptions that may occur over the weekends. What a great spot. The travel to the city was easy and interesting. The bus stop is at the bottom of the hill. The bus service is excellent - pick up an octopus card at the airport, when you arrive. Taxi from the airport was only 30 mins or so. 150 hkd. Taking the bus to the ferry, then across to Central, is a great way to start the day. Going the other way you can visit the Big Buddha, and take the cable car on the way home definately recommended.
The apartment is on the 3rd floor, so you have some stairs, and also a floor up, a roof terrace to have a cool beer at the end of the day. There are 2 bedrooms and more space in the living room. The aircon is excellent and required, not having visited the area before, the heat took us a bit by surprise. There is a small kitchen, if you want a cuppa or a quick snack. The bathroom is very good, excellent shower. They also have a washing machine if you're travelling light. That's the nuts and bolts. Its a perfect little escape. The massive plus is the generosity and service of the hosts.On our arrival we were treated to a lovely meal, which was very appreciated. They gave us the confidence to enjoy our visit as any information was immediately available, we didn't have to work things out. There are places to eat locally, or have a long day out and eat in the city, and marvel at the lights, before a well earned rest in the peace and quiet of Lantau Lodge. I'm back in England now, but having written this want to go back now !! Lovely.

Great Place, Great hosts,
Same as pictures, with great hosts,
Very clean !
Very easy to find,
We were even offered to enjoy diner !
Since we were hiking the day before and the day after, we sadly did not have time to fully enjoy all the stuff that this place has to offer !
We'll come back !

Something out of the ordinary
Only 45 min away from Hong Kong, yet so different. In a very calm area of Lantau Island, close to beaches, the fishing village of Tai O and the Big Buddha in a small apartment which fits a large family.
Situated adjacent to the only eating place of the village, with a very limited menu, one gets to know the Island and its inhabitants.
Michael the owner is a true host, and he helped us a lot with transfers, competent guiding and hints to get around smoothly. His family is charming and even cooked for us. The Lodge may not be a true hotel but it offers something out of the ordinary. Something to remember

Perfect place for exploring Lantau Island
We stayed at Lantau Lodge at the beginning of our first visit to Hong Kong. It is the perfect place for exploring Lantau Island. For example, it is possible to hike to the Tian Tan Buddha on beautiful hiking trails in two hours. There are frequent bus lines to the fishing village Tai O, the Tian Tan Buddha as well as a MTR station and a ferry station. From the latter there is a beautiful 40 min ferry ride to Hong Kong central. The lodge is a 30 min taxi ride from the airport, which is about 160 HKD. Hosts were most hospitable. They prepared a delicious dinner for us on arrival and what was most remarkable: they offered a lot of advice for trips on Lantau Island. Thus we were able to visit many amazing places, which are off the tourist tracks. Also they accompanied us on a hiking tour and gave us a lift, which saved a lot of time. Furthermore, Michael gave us a guided tour of Tai O with useful tips and insights into its history and local cuisine. Last but not least, the accommodation is very clean and also worked for my daughter, who has a dust allergy.

Excellent stay & great host!
Had a great time staying at Lantau Lodge with my fellows. Michael contacted us and made sure that we got on the right transport to get to his place. Hosts made us great dinner on our arrival and we definitely feel very comfortable with our stay. Place was clean and neat. Michael even drove us to the bus terminal and ensure we got on the right bus. Michael and his wife deserve the best host and tour guide. I wish I can rate them more than just five stars!

Recommended !!
We were a group of 8 and we had a great stay at Michael’s place! The house is conveniently located, close to the beach and hiking trails. Bus stop and convenience store are close-by. The house itself is well equipped, with a private rooftop and bbq. Best of all, Michael is a super nice host, very helpful and friendly. He has an extensive knowledge of HK and plenty of tips for your stay in the area. Thanks Michael & Michelle for having us ! We’ll happily come again !
