We really enjoyed our stay at Junjungan Serenity. We were there with our family for Mum's 60th, and had a great time. Mum stayed in a one bedroom villa overlooking the rice fields, we stayed in a 2 bedroom villa with our 2 small children, and there was plenty of room for everyone else in the other 2 bedroom villa. We didn't realise that we'd booked the entire place with this arrangement!
We all arrived on the same day at different times, and were greeted with fresh lime & mint drinks, and Budi personally showed us around the place before introducing us to her sister who was amazing, and took care of us with anything we needed for our stay.
The location is away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre, but really convenient to get around - either hiring a scooter, or taking a trip to the main areas in a taxi. (They provide a shuttle once a day which is really all you need). Any closer to the town and it wouldn't be as peaceful, so it's a worthwhile trade-off.
There's a kitchen with a chef who will cook anything on their menu for you at any time, and bamboo hut eating area that overlooks the rice fields, although they also brought drinks and food to us while we were in the pool. Also, with breakfast included we could order whatever we wanted and it was never a hassle. Really nice food as well! Occasionally there would be visitors from other surrounding places just to eat there.
Surprisingly, there were no problems with mosquitoes or insects considering we were amongst the rice fields - With 2 small children we came prepared just in case, but never had any issues.
The rooms were clean and new, the beds were comfy, and the serenity... yes, it lived up to it's name. We had massages in the spa area which overlooked the rice fields, listening to the waterfall in the creek at the end of the garden.
The hospitality was wonderful, they provided us with toys for the kids, movies to watch, and also made us a cake to celebrate Mum's birthday as their gift to us.
Overall we have great memories of our trip, and our stay here was definitely a highlight.
