I cannot rave enough about how much we loved our stay at Villa Santai. We are a family of 5 and we were travelling with another family of 4. We stayed for 3 nights and I only wish it could have been longer. The Villa itself is absolutely charming, the open plan lay out capturing the magnificence of it's setting perfectly. The Villa is built high up above a forest canopy and has stunning panoramic views from wherever you happen to be, whether lounging by the pool, enjoying sunset drinks from one of the cabanas or simply lying in your bed. The pictures on the web site do not actually do the villa justice, it was actually far superior to what we had expected. The bedrooms are huge and beautifully presented with good bed linen and lovely en suite bathrooms. The staff were wonderful, so helpful and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. We actually ended up eating in the villa two out of the three nights and both meals were superb. The kids would highly recommend the spring rolls! In fact two of my three kids had their birthdays when we were there and the staff were so sweet taking the time to write happy birthday in flower petals on their beds. The driver too was amazing, always on hand to take us wherever we wanted to go and always back at the designated time to pick us up and take us back to the peace of our hilltop oasis. On behalf of all of us I would like to say a massive thank you to Made and all the staff for looking after us so well and making our stay so enjoyable. I would not hesitate to recommend Villa Santai to anyone, it is affordable luxury! All in all a wonderful experience and one none of us will forget.

ウブド滞在時は渓谷を望むプールがある所を好んで探しています。 そこでぴったりだったのがこちらのヴィラ。 ウブド中心から車で15分程度の奥にあり、周りは田んぼに囲まれた静かな環境で、なによりも絶景ビュー！しかもプールは温水？で快適に入れました。 スタッフも親切で、レストランの予約、買い物、いろいろな要望に応えてくれました。 バリは素敵な宿が沢山ありますが、またリピートしたい素敵な場所です。 ウォーターサーバー、ベビーチェアとベビーベッドがありました。

Eight ladies arrived at this luxury villa and thought they had died and gone to heaven. Graciously sized villa with four bedrooms and an entertainment area to only dream of. The infinity pool was invitingly fresh and crystal clean. All bedrooms were huge with dress rooms and private bathrooms looking out into the rainforest. The only downside with this villa was the untrained staff. We felt that the quality of this villa deserved outstanding service. This was not the case. Wine recommended on wine list was not available. Breakfast condiments ran out during our stay. No pool towells when you get out of the pool. Tea and coffee mix ups and waiting times not acceptable. Communication with staff was limited. Attending to our everyday needs seemed to be neglected. We found ourselves asking instead of being asked. This was a frequent occurrence. The staff were very polite but did not attend or try to offer assistance. Hoping owner will take this review on board. The staff are lovely but have to be trained.

Villa exceptionnelle dans un lieu magique avec un personnel irréprochable, disponible et discret. Une attention portée sur le moindre détail qui donne un ensemble parfait. Ce lieu invite au partage et au repos, tout y est magnifique : la maison, la piscine, la végétation, la décoration.... Surtout, profitez des repas sur place et de la cuisine balinaise proposée par le staff et ne manquez en aucun cas les springrolls ! (les meilleurs de notre séjour balinais)

Forget reserving a pool lounge before breakfast, fighting for a table near the buffet or sharing the pool with 100 people - if you are looking for luxury, comfort, friendliness and serenity, this is the place for you. I travelled with my parents (70's) and my sister and her husband and their 2 girls +1, there was more than enough space for people to mingle with each other or have some quiet time. Rooms - just delightful. Large with plenty of space, surrounded by fly screen rather than glass which allowed beautiful air flow from the valley to keep everything cool and fresh. The bathrooms were huge with everything you need and then some. Living areas - so many different areas to sit and relax, watch a movie, enjoy the peaceful surroundings or have a intense game of cards. Pool - clean and refreshing, spectacularly placed overlooking the valley so you can swim and watch the monkeys play on the other side of the river at the same time. Food - coffee and tea each morning served wherever the group congregated, breakfast was simple, fresh and well presented, a delight after a week of the big hotel buffet. Lunches and dinners are pre-arranged each day and were fresh and delicious. Staff - couldn't have asked for more from them, all incredibly friendly, welcoming and attentive without being intrusive. Made ensured all ran smoothly at the villa and Wayan drove us whereever we wanted/needed to go, just a fabulous, careful driver with a great smile and personality, nothing was too much trouble. Overall - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Santai, not far from Ubud but far enough away that you feel detached from the chaos. No question, we will be back (hopefully next year!). I was asked if I had any recommendations or criticism, which I discussed with my family and we came up with the following: - the sun needs to rise earlier and set later in the day; - the river needs to be quieter at night; and - the farmer across the river needs signing lessons!

As another reviewer said on the site, the photos really don't lie. Absolutely stunning villa, with spectacular views. Staff were so friendly and accommodating. One of the best villa experiences we have ever had, and could not recommend it more highly.

I found booking this Villa very easy, the owner was very friendly and responded quickly to my emails. We travelled to Villa Santai in May 2013 along with close family members & friends to get married in Ubud. The villa was a spectacular setting for our wedding day, the pictures really don't do it justice. The open plan living area and pool are designed so that whatever time of day it is there is somewhere comfortable to sit either in the sunshine or shade. The villa manager and staff helped make our stay extra special and nothing was too much trouble for them. Made, the villa manager helped us organise the flowers, decorations and wedding cake which were all supplied at a reasonable price from local businesses and the staff decorated the villa with traditional Balinese decorations for our wedding ceremony. The villa chef catered our wedding dinner and the food was delicious. I cannot rate Villa Santai highly enough, I was so sad when we had to leave, the beautiful setting and the wonderful staff really helped make our wedding day very special. I would recommend this villa to a couple or group of friends and family who want somewhere luxurious to relax on holiday. I really hope I can go back there one day.

After witnessing my friend's proposal in April 2012, I was so impressed with Villa Santai that I had to go back there for my own proposal. During the planning stages, the owner and his staff were very helpful in planning my proposal, giving valuable advice on how I can execute my engagement to my fiancée. During my proposal night, I was really impressed with the arrangement that was made for my special event! The villa was transformed into one of those romantic scene you see in movies – complete with candles lighting up the place, words floating on the infinity pool and a spectacular fireworks display to celebrate the moment my fiancée!! For top quality service, Villa Santai is the place to stay when you go Bali.

I had never booked a holiday rental overseas before this and I was somewhat nervous about it. However I am so glad that I did. Villa Santai was magnificent and the staff and service was absolutely incredible. We were a party of five aussie mums looking for a bit of peace, relaxation, adventure, culture and luxury and I am happy to say we were not at all disappointed. Made and Dedy organised everything from day spa's to a visit with Ketut Liyer (eat pray love). They had arranged for the wonderful Ketut (a private yoga instructor) to come to our villa and we even did silver making classes and a trip to the volcano. The food was sensational and we never wanted for anything. Being out of the centre of Ubud (A$7 taxi fare) we felt like we belonged to the local village. From walks along the rice fields to a very special visit to the temple with the beautiful Ayu, we were completely enthralled. We would never have had such an amazing experience if we had of booked a hotel. Thank you so much to all the beautiful staff at Villa Santai, leaving felt like saying goodbye to old friends. We look forward to visiting you soon.

A voir uniquement des avis positifs sur cette villa, je pense important d'apporter avec plus d'objectivité certaines précisions à destination des personnes qui seraient tentées d'y séjourner. Le village de Melayang est tout proche de Ubud, à 5 mns de voiture ou sccoter. La villa Santai dispose d'un terrain restreint mais son emplacement en bord de vallée avec une vue imprenable fait qu'on ne s'y sent pas à l'étroit. On accède directement au grand salon salle à manger ouvert sur la piscine et la terrasse. De chaque côté un escalier dessert deux chambres situées en dessous. Les chambres sont spacieuses, celles situées plus côté vallée disposent en plus d'un vaste dressing. Voilà pour les points positifs. Nous y avions déjà séjourné en 2009 à melayang au Tanah merah et à la villa Awang-Awang voisine et nous nous étions fait une idée finalement fausse de la villa Santai qui nous semblait d'après le site web un cran au dessus. Il faut surtout savoir que les fenêtres de chambres ne sont pas vitrées mais équipées de grillage façon moustiquaire. C'est à priori sympa surtout qu'à Ubud on peut en général se passer de climatisation, mais avec des trous comme poing il faut aimer les insectes et autres bestioles car on est en pleine végétation. Peut-être que comme nous, après l'explosion d'une lampe de salle de bain colonisée par les fourmis, vous passerez une partie de la nuit à évacuer de la chambre crapauds et araignées (Ne regardez pas sous les lits, vous dormirez mieux) et au petit matin, vous aurez le plaisir d'être réveillés par les odeurs de brûlis environnant car à Bali chacun incinère ses déchets. Bref, c'aurait été sympa avec des vitres au fenêtres, une clim dans les chambres, un peu plus de pression d'eau car il est préférable de se synchroniser pour les douches, et un personnel (super sympa au demeurant) plus sensibilisé à un entretien minimum. Une nuit nous aura donc suffi et, pour terminer sur une note positive, je souhaite souligner que Mr Perry le propriétaire que nous avons joint à Chicago dès le matin a pris en charge notre relogement à l'hotel Alam Ubud pour les 3 nuits suivantes. C'est tout à son honneur et nous l'en remercions. J'espère que ce qui fut à l'origine de notre grande déception aura été corrigé depuis et que de nombreux autres amoureux de Bali pourront profiter dans d'excellentes conditions de cette pourtant très jolie villa. Si tel n'est pas le cas, vous pourrez maintenant prendre votre décision d'y séjourner avec un information plus complète. Bon séjour à Bali Avec le temps que nous avons en France, je suis déjà pour ma part en préparation de notre prochain et 4ème trip balinais.
